Went to see Taylor's movie last night, took my friend's 32 yo daughter who's been a Swifty since day one ... We went to VIP to avoid the crush of younger fans but I had such a good time im going again next Sunday in a regular theatre FYI it is straight up a concert, there's no behind the scenes stuff, no narrative other than the Eras themselves. (I would have liked to see some footage from other venues, and especially the ones where she performed while it was pouring rain and the earthquake one😊) Still had a great time. But when Grace said about buying it and keeping it on in the background is very valid! ❤
I avoided the theater this weekend. I couldn't do it either BUT I'm waiting for Beyonce's documentary! Got my tickets right away for IMAX Nov. 30th. 🎉🎉🎉 I don't want a concert experience in a theater. I'll take a documentary of the concert like This Is It from Michael Jackson and Beyonce.

I get the "taylor is over exposed sentiment" but people really don't seems to understand that she is just LIVING her best life right now. She spent 6 years hiding and being bullied by the media and the public, now she is just in a place in her life where she can just be free and enjoy life, is not her fault that she is just this famous and her image generate so much click, people love her, amd love to hate on her.
Lol what? Her fanbase has been huge since a looong time ago, and the few media that dares to criticize her is immediately flooded with fans defending her. Did you forget all the praise and awards she got for folklore in 2020? Why do Taylor fans have the need to paint her as this poor underdog who's been wronged and bullied by the whole world?
On Friday night, I saw the Eras Tour as a newcomer being a Swiftie, and it was an Experience. I mean it, this was the best theater experience I’ve ever had, it was great, many of us were dancing around and singing, it was amazing
Heyyy Grace, as a Swiftie I would agree usually but she’s releasing 1989 Taylor’s version at the end of the month. Something that made the original release so huge was that Taylor was literally EVERYWHERE and she would be out every night w her celebrity friends etc. The album was about having fun and going out. Next is Reputation Taylor’s version (hopefully) and I assume she will once again copy what she did with that albums role out - adapt to a more reclusive stance. 😊😊
I think Taylor swift has become over exposed and recovered from it numerous times. She always comes back from it. This time will be no different. She's just that good.
i saw the taylor swift movie saturday in iMax and was so moved and impressed by it- yes biased i am a fan BUT i went to the concert and being in the theater made me feel like i was there again and it felt unbelievably real and euphoric and i have to experience it again in theaters i just loved it so much
The problem with Ahsoka is that this tease so far hasn't attracted the same audience as the Mandalorian, or the same response online. So if they make a Thrawn movie, it will still have to cater to a casual audience that doesn't have a clue what's going on.
at my local cinemas they are selling the Taylor Swift tickets as a "special event" and charging over double the ticket price... I was considering joining the hype but nope....
I saw Taylor’s concert movie twice. I much prefer this experience rather than spend so much money on the actual events. I will probably buy this movie too.
I personally realized this over the pandemic when lots of concerts had online streaming options. Much more enjoyable viewing it in comfort rather than spending hundreds to thousands on a crap seat where you have to watch a screen anyway in godawful weather. The next evolution is even better where in theaters you can do the same with others
Next week will be interesting, going up against Killers. I think TS will still outperform it, though. My dad wants to go see Killers but that 3.5 hr run time is daunting to him lol. But we sat through Babylon in theaters....so we'll see.
16:20 is Taylor over exposed? Idk but I’m nervous. The winds are strong at the top of the mountain. When she dated Tom hiddleston the paparazzi were snapping pics of them constantly. Kinda like how it is now with Travis kelce…. And back then after hiddleston she retreated and was gone from the public eye. She’s a good person… I’m just scared she’s gonna come crashing down like in 2017…
I went to see Taylor Swift's movie with my wife because she didn't wanted to go alone. I wasn't' into Taylor's music before the movie, I kind of am now, Would watch it again if it was priced as a regular movie.
I went to the Eras Tour movie in Dolby and let me tell you that felt like I was actually at the concert so much so I had post concert withdrawals hahahaha that was a once in a life time event for sure!!
16:07 I don't really see this happening, Taylor is releasing an album on the 27th of October, her rerecording of 1989, which is predicted to be HUGE, bc the original is one of her most successful and critically acclaimed albums, and its probably goingto come with a couple music videos.
I went twice to see Taylor’s concert, great experience, I loved seeing young people having a great time and making new friends it seems, I stayed in my seat though. Taylor is THE business woman to learn from, such an amazing artist, business woman, boss, and overall great person and a positive influence out there.
I’ve seen concert movies in theatres before, usually being one of a handful of people in the theatre. I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like seeing The Eras Tour movie in theatres. As someone who has been a Swiftie since her debut in 2006, it was an overwhelmingly joyous, dare I say euphoric experience to not only witness her on the big screen, but also to share that experience with a room full of about a hundred other Swifties, all of whom were acting as though they were at the actual concert, singing along, dancing, screaming (when appropriate). For me, it served as a preview for when I see the actual show next June and made me even more excited than I already am. And some of the shots in the movie were genuinely breathtaking. I do tend to agree with you about Taylor being on the cusp of overexposure. As a fan, I can never get enough of her, but the last time she reached close to this level of superstardom was the 1989 era, toward the end of which she did reach overexposure, causing her to go into hiding for a year. This year, she has reached even higher heights of stardom and success, far surpassing that of the 1989 era and I’m genuinely concerned that this will lead to an even bigger implosion. Or she could just keep going up and up and until she just straight up becomes God.
I went and I loved it! Everyone was signing along or dancing and the experience is quite different than a regular movie….it’s more engaging !! Such a beautiful experience ❤
I took my daughter since I couldn't snag us tickets for this tour. Had a great time, and saw it on the biggest Marcus theater screen available. We had fun and the audience was in good spirits. 👍
I used to work for Cineplex in Canada as a VIP theatre server. one year we showed the Super Bowl with everyone ordering food and drinks right into the theater like a giant Super Bowl party. Cineplex also shows a lot of arts and live performances. I also love that they show a lot of anime movies and anime concerts. One time they showed an anime concert Aqours first live. i’m assuming it’ll be similar to the Taylor Swift concert as we are all up in our seats with the light sticks and doing call and response to the screen just like a real Japanese concert.
Back when it didn't seem possible for game of thrones to have the ending it did I thought how awesome it would have been if the finale was a big movie ending event. Considering how many people were watching the show with friends, at bars and other gatherings a movie seem like a no Brainer to me.
I saw Taylor's concert this summer and the movie this weekend! The thing that set it apart for me was seeing Taylor's view of the audience from the stage. It was a great point of view, but I would not see it a second time.
Well but I felt the camera was on Taylor & performers practically the whole time. And so many times when I was impressed by the camera work, in fact. The whole production was... well, a great cinematic production. I loved the film, as a casual fan.
So in regards to overexposure with Taylor Swift I think it’s a different story with Pop Stars. Shes always gonna have haters but her fans will always combat that. I think the problem is the NFL, there was a story about a week ago or so, how the NFL really wanted Taylor Swift to perform at the Superbowl but she keeps declining and it just so happened that she started dating Kelce. So I think the NFL is always panning to her cause they are getting some of the highest rating when she shows up. Like you said she has a specific demographic and right now her current relationship is playing into a demographic that’s not really hers.
Taylor is the new Madonna in that she’s learned to use the machine and play the game better than any of their peers. Actually, like Madonna she reinvented the game. Beyonce is very good too, but not since Madonna has anyone been able to exploit the machine like she has. And incredibly she’s even better than Madonna.
I wanted to watch "Dumb Money" in theater, but it was out of my local theater by the time I was in town to see it 2 or 3 weeks after release. Regarding Swift, I would hesitate to make any earth moving changes as theaters or as Hollyood. Fathom Events has existed for everyone besides Taylor Swift for ages. I think the larger problem is movie companies pulling movies to digital after 3 weeks. Like Dumb Money, there are many movies I've missed in theaters the last 2 years.
I think it could be done again, but it'd have to be the biggest names out there to come anywhere even near a 100M opener. Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest pop star there is currently. It'd have to be The Weekend and artists of that caliber. But even then, I think the fandom aspect of Taylor Swift works in her favour. People might want to go watch a Drake concert, but would they be convinced to watch a concert movie of him?
I saw the twitter posts of the movie screenings lol yeah.. I’ll wait till it’s released on Disney + or Netflix. Theaters should have had “bestie screenings” where audiences are dancing and jumping and “casual screenings” for people who wants to just enjoy the movie sitting down
I don't know why, but Loki isnt sticking with me after finishing the episode. Ep 2 didn't leave a huge impact on me, also felt like they wasted this episode trying to make X-5 talk and some of it felt like we skipped over an episode.
Can’t believe ppl thought this will do Barbie or No way home numbers. Also, Beyoncé didn’t spend millions advertising and promoting her movie. She never does promo.
My attempt at an analogy - Hollywood is like a fine dining restaurant that keeps putting out subpar dishes and fans keep sending the dishes back or instead staying home for a TV dinner (streaming) Taylor Swift is like a food truck that parked in front of the Hollywood restaurant and people are flocking to it for an enjoyable meal and alternative to the subpar dishes. Hollywood needs to be confronted by more food trucks so that maybe they’ll be forced to change the meals they’re preparing.
You've mentioned in the past that people don't go to theaters on superbowl weekend. What if theaters play the superbowl, commercials, and halftime show, the same way that they did this Taylor Swift event?
If you think anyone (yes Beyoncé included) can duplicate what Taylor Swift just did. You’re both out of your mind and greatly underestimating the power of the Swifties. She’s even got people watching football again!
You people are overhyping this woman taylor , 96 million opening is not that big considering how big of a year she has had. Plus it is going to have massive drops in the coming weekends, She might end up not getting past 250 millon globally
I understand Dwayne Johnson over exposing himself with his social media posts about his films, tv projects, businesses etc. but JLaw was cast in two franchises - Hunger Games(2012) & XMen (2011) - and got an Oscar nod. She didn’t put herself out there she just was a girl on fire so everyone wanted interviews, magazines wanted her on their covers. She’s very personable but idk what else she could have done…
I’ll be seeing Killers of the Flower Moon and I didn’t go to the theater this weekend so it’ll be my first chance to see how many Swifties are in my area. When I saw Barbie opening weekend the crowd was very enthusiastic but still courteous. The fact that this seems to be skewing younger is concerning, but it’s the second weekend which should mitigate the likelihood of any shenanigans.
The Morning Show got its boost from the amazing acting from Nicole Beharie, since she joined the show this season. She had the show trending on Twitter (X) a few weeks ago for one of her scenes.

The Taylor Swift concert movie made me an even bigger fan of hers if that’s possible. That said… this movie made me want more intermissions in movies that length. Sheesh.
I personally see this type of showings taking more spots in the future The regular movies just arent bringing in the viewers, but this type of a showing would
Paw Patrol would be a LOT better off if they had some premium screens on opening weekend. I’m still annoyed I couldn’t take my daughter to see it in 3D 4DX. Would have been amazing!
Taylor Swift could release an album of her just breathing and it would go 10x platinum. It's fascinating her 15+ year popularity. I love the idea of things other than conventional movies playing in theatres as "events." Concert films can be exciting experiences that are different from the concerts in that they can include backstage stuff and other documentary footage. The problem with Taylor going first is everyone else will be compared to her box office. I think Lady Gaga's Chromatica Tour would've been amazing in theaters but its appeal isn't as broad as Taylor's.
I am really interested in the business side of movies because so much money goes into making a movie that it has to have a focus on business. But i like to keep business completely out of the music making process and since its a lot cheaper to make music then i think tne stakes arent as high
i find it very interesting that swift went to AMC for distributing her film....I wonder if other creative media, in my mind specifically animation with all the layoffs, can do something like this? artist making their own studio's and going straight to movie theaters and if a film does well, they can keep the profits??

I didn’t even want to go see this but I’m glad I did after the hype convinced me to get that experience . She has quite the discography and I heard a few songs that I’ll add to my rotation .
I would rather eat broken glass
@@josephblasko26 I wasn't talking to you

I just got out of seeing the Eras Tour movie. My screening only had 15 people total so it was nice and small to sing and dance in our seats, without being obnoxious. Would see it again in theatres but looking forward to a streaming/ digital release
Swift’s concert was the best cinematic experience of the year
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, I just dissagree like strongly 😭
I wouldn't call it the best one, but damn that really was absolutely fantastic
hugely disagree
❤😊 Glad you enjoyed it!!!❤😊
Across the Spiderverse? Barbie? Oppenheimer? C'mon bro 😂
Went to a 10pm show to Taylor Swift and it was one of the most fun theater experiences I’ve had. People dancing and trading bracelets before and after the show. Not to mention in eras merch with popcorn buckets and drinks in hand!
Michael Jackson was actually the 1st to really hit the big numbers with movie concerts with This Is It, not Taylor Swift, I'd say she's the 2nd
also Talking Heads' film "Stop Making Sense", which just had its re-release. Was hailed as the best
@@rafaelmanzo9497
How much did it make at the box office?
Madonna Truth or Dare in 1992 set the standard for concert movie/documentary film forever ✨
@@JoshPinder92
No it didn’t. Also “Truth or Dare” aka “In Bed with Madonna” isn’t even a full concert movie.
@@mabusestestament often quoted and referenced , it's legacy over 30 years later paved the way
Went to see Taylor's movie last night, took my friend's 32 yo daughter who's been a Swifty since day one ...
We went to VIP to avoid the crush of younger fans but I had such a good time im going again next Sunday in a regular theatre
FYI it is straight up a concert, there's no behind the scenes stuff, no narrative other than the Eras themselves. (I would have liked to see some footage from other venues, and especially the ones where she performed while it was pouring rain and the earthquake one😊)
Still had a great time.
She spent 6 years hiding and being bullied by the media and the public, now she is just in a place in her life where she can just be free and enjoy life, is not her fault that she is just this famous and her image generate so much click, people love her, amd love to hate on her.
exactly shes a person and and people should stop treating her like a product
What are you talking about? She herself and her obsessive fans bully people (her exes and such) all the time.
@@lorelai44
Because that’s how they want to feel.
I did not even think about this omg we're actually going to get rep era 2.0
REPUTATION is a very divisive album amongst fans.. it's funny. Always here for the queen of snakes 🐍🐍🐍🐍
I think Taylor swift has become over exposed and recovered from it numerous times. She always comes back from it. This time will be no different. She's just that good.
i saw the taylor swift movie saturday in iMax and was so moved and impressed by it- yes biased i am a fan BUT i went to the concert and being in the theater made me feel like i was there again and it felt unbelievably real and euphoric and i have to experience it again in theaters i just loved it so much
Coca-cola was #2 out of the gate. Moxy was first. It's not about who's first. It's about who is better on the business side.
The Cocain also helps
If Martin Scorsese went to the eras tour movie and praised it and invited Travis and TS to a special screening of KotFM, it’d help his film
Lmaoo
The problem with Ahsoka is that this tease so far hasn't attracted the same audience as the Mandalorian, or the same response online. So if they make a Thrawn movie, it will still have to cater to a casual audience that doesn't have a clue what's going on.
Taylor Swift is using theaters to break TicketMaster.
I love Taylor Swift & Martin Scorsese. Maybe I'll do a double feature.
at my local cinemas they are selling the Taylor Swift tickets as a "special event" and charging over double the ticket price... I was considering joining the hype but nope....
I saw Taylor’s concert movie twice. I much prefer this experience rather than spend so much money on the actual events. I will probably buy this movie too.
❤😊
I would love to go to the concert but the tickets are too much! It’s great fans get to see the tour who can’t afford concert tickets
She’s a good person… I’m just scared she’s gonna come crashing down like in 2017…
Saw Taylor Swift twice. Concert films are probably the best use of Dolby Cinemas
I went to see Taylor Swift's movie with my wife because she didn't wanted to go alone. I wasn't' into Taylor's music before the movie, I kind of am now, Would watch it again if it was priced as a regular movie.
What did it cost you?
I went to the Eras Tour movie in Dolby and let me tell you that felt like I was actually at the concert so much so I had post concert withdrawals hahahaha that was a once in a life time event for sure!!
Dolby is great! I always prefer Dolby over Imax.
YESSSSS FINALLY TAYLOR SWIFT TIME. THANK, YOU GRACE FOR THIS MOVIE MATH.
❤😊
I went, and it was one of the most fun movie experiences that I've ever had!
Couldn't name a swift song but was going to give it a shot until I found out AMC was blocking A-List user from using it as one of their weekly picks.
As a guy that has go to a lot of concerts, watching them on a theatre is a very acceptable substitute. Not the same, but not bad at all.
""Has to go?" What do you mean? Pray tell
I went and I loved it! Everyone was signing along or dancing and the experience is quite different than a regular movie….it’s more engaging !! Such a beautiful experience ❤
Ill never be seeing this movie but glad people are enjoying themselves
I took my daughter since I couldn't snag us tickets for this tour. Had a great time, and saw it on the biggest Marcus theater screen available. We had fun and the audience was in good spirits. 👍
Harry Styles has been rumored to have been filming a documentary/concert movie for years now and I know that once it releases it’ll be massive
Grace there’s an album coming out in like two weeks, calling for a break is really funny as a fan knowing that
I saw the Eras Tour in theaters and really was an experience and totally agree with you, TS is the perfect combo or business and creativity.
I went to see Taylor swift Friday and it was packed and everyone was singing and stomping their feet. So much fun! 😃
Avoiding inconvenience caused by joyful Swifties is definitely a first world problem.
Definitely watching Killlers of Flower.looking forward.
Theaters should have had “bestie screenings” where audiences are dancing and jumping and “casual screenings” for people who wants to just enjoy the movie sitting down
6:27 most people who go to concerts experience it on screen because their seats are SO FAR AWAY from the stage. 🤷🏻
The demand is not there?! Lol you’re kidding right?
My attempt at an analogy - Hollywood is like a fine dining restaurant that keeps putting out subpar dishes and fans keep sending the dishes back or instead staying home for a TV dinner (streaming) Taylor Swift is like a food truck that parked in front of the Hollywood restaurant and people are flocking to it for an enjoyable meal and alternative to the subpar dishes. Hollywood needs to be confronted by more food trucks so that maybe they’ll be forced to change the meals they’re preparing.
Well said
everyone was so sure last week taylor was going to be biggest box open of the year 🤣🤣
You've mentioned in the past that people don't go to theaters on superbowl weekend.
Fr I love Beyoncé but she isn’t near tastier swift when it comes to popularity
Watching football again?🤨 Right, because no one watched the NFL before Swift & Kelce😂
@@DountHead2533 twas a joke.
You people are overhyping this woman taylor , 96 million opening is not that big considering how big of a year she has had. Plus it is going to have massive drops in the coming weekends, She might end up not getting past 250 millon globally
My Eras screening had a surprising amount of general audience (non-Swifties), some of which I heard say they checked it out just for the hype!
“Every fan is a consumer” something Doja should think about haha
AMC have been showing Met Opera performances in their theaters.
It seems like everyone is underestimating how rewatchable the Eras movie is. I'm betting it's going to have a strong 2nd and 3rd weekend.
It was 50/50 a movie experience and a concert experience. People dressed up, danced, sang and had a great time.
I'm both a Taylor and a Scorsese fan. To me it's a good time at the movies!
I think you would LOVE the Eras Tour film! My host-sisters weren’t super familiar with her music and they had a BLAST! 17:13
3% black! yup, sounds right to me.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol😂
Disney 100th special made me cry!
Nothing like the magic of Disney :)
16:34 Agree. She’s being overly exposed right now. Her team needs to warn her about this.
Muse are definitely the first who started this trend with their Simulation Theory tour in Cinema ! Taylor Swift didn't reinvent the wheel 😂😉
Nobody on UA-cam who covers nerd culture ever mentions both Sin City films. The most comic-book accurate. Marv (Mickey Rourke) is awesome!
I'd love to watch the Oscars live in a theatre.
❤😊
The Morning Show got its boost from the amazing acting from Nicole Beharie, since she joined the show this season. She had the show trending on Twitter (X) a few weeks ago for one of her scenes.
I came to say this same thing.
I wound up going to see the Eras Tour film and not only did I LOVE it, I’m now a Swiftie. The 2 days since I have been obsessed!! I never really *got* they hype totally but did like her music a lot but now, I’m all in. Gutted I’ve missed the boat with Eras tickets but damn I’d love to go
I saw it twice.. I didn’t know you couldn’t exchange. I am a swiftie but an over the top one. I had a blast in both screenings. Everyone was respectful of one another but we all still danced and sang along. It was very Rocky Horror.
The Taylor Swift concert movie made me an even bigger fan of hers if that’s possible. That said… this movie made me want more intermissions in movies that length. Sheesh.
I personally see this type of showings taking more spots in the future
The regular movies just arent bringing in the viewers, but this type of a showing would
Paw Patrol would be a LOT better off if they had some premium screens on opening weekend.
