Thanks for listening. :)
Chords, chords, glorious chords
Well done sir. I am a 63 almost 64 year old jazz pianist. However I didn't begin playing jazz till my mid 40's. Studied jazz piano in college. Back in the 70's when this was hot I wanted to play it so bad. Now I can thanks to you and this awesome cover.
this performance took me down an avenue of time when music was better.
Music is just as good as ever, even some of the popular stuff. Look at Kendrick!
@@mycatis4257 rap is a genre is just so mediocre now compared to old stuff because it's so monotonous. Same 4 chords same song progression and nothing new. Kendrick however is a light in the dark imo he's brilliant.
@@elijah9253 Not all! Check some more underground stuff! JPEGMAFIA is insane and Busdriver to. Check out Veteran and Electricity is On Our Side respectively. Great albums with super different and interesting styles.
God bless Donald Fagan and Walter Becker. This is a magnificent rendition without extra instrumentation
Wow! Talk about throwing out the hardware and doing it right. This video proves your residence is truly up on the hill.
Wonderful comment Joseph. Thank you. :)
Please do a tutorial on this if there is such a thing. You are absolutely phenomenal!!! Thank you
Love.
Excellent cover, and Aja is no mean feat. Beautifully played, surprised it doesn't have more likes.
Awesome!
4:50 those chordzzz
I could listen all day long.... very nice!
Aja is a tour de force and almost a peak for Donald Fagen.
Who would have thought that he would pull another trick out of the bag by following it up with 'Gaucho' his final masterpiece.
Thanks for this amazing version.
@Pat McCann Of course, The Nightfly. Probably Fagen's last great work. I'm still listening to that one.
I needed a challenging, beautiful Steely Dan song to learn instrumentally during covid-19 stay at home. Found this. Thanks so much. Inspiring!
Beautiful playing. Your rhythm was done so accurately and beautifully.
Thank you. What a nice compliment. 🙂
Stunning chord changes. Songwriting at its finest.
I do believe Donald Fagan would approve! Well done, captured the nuances beautifully.
really instructive, Michael. It pulls back the curtain on the magic and, it turns out, it really is magic after all.
Thank you Mark :)
Those chords! Beautiful.
wooooww
Chills....
I have no words for this! Best steely Dan cover ever!!! Please do more Steely Dan covers
Perfectly played.
Moved to tears.
Not only a great rendition in terms of covering the material, but your playing is very musical. Very satisfying to listen to.
I see those left-handed 10ths! Great job, it's inspiring to hear and see this song on solo piano.
Thank you! That's a learned compliment I very much appreciate. 🙂🙂
Couldn’t be done better really….a benchmark!
I have been mourning Walter Becker for a week now by listening to 11 Tracks of Whack. He was terribly underappreciated. Thank you for dedicating an absolutely fabulous version of Aja in his honor. Well done.
I've been wanting to re-record "Down in the Bottom" off of that album for a while now. The song gives me a feeling of melancholy, very moving.
Great stuff it must have taken you months to get this down
Great record
lovely job , thanks 👍
Shame this is at 12 k views. Great job!!
Wow! Loved it! Thanks!
This is amazing, and deserves 100K likes!
Thanks Bryan!
Beautifully done. All the subtleties and colours were presented clearly.
Stellar performance! You really did the song justice… impressively done! Thank you for sharing!
Pretty much note perfect and all from memory. That is a complex piece played brilliantly.
Amazing dude! Thankyou.
I played the drum solo in my head...
Well done. A classic. Final Fagan wiz a genius at the keyboard.
Thank you John :)
so good
Amazing!!!!!
This song has sooooo many moving parts. Wicked.
Such a beautiful rendition! Your arrangement is brilliant too! If you make a transcription of this arrangement, please let us know.
So good to hear you play Mike- Thanks
I can't express to you how much I enjoyed that. I have a dozen or so steely Dan songs down but this one is a step beyond my chops. Babylon Sisters also gives me fits.
I'm a rank amateur on music and keyboards, but I've just started a journey into learning Babylon Sisters. The song is stuck in my head now!
Fabulous! The only thing missing is the gliss into the chorus but perhaps that’s an overdub?!
Great job!!!
wow...very nice
wonderful
Very nice cover indeed 🎹🎶 Bravo!
excellent!!!
Excellent. One of the best piano covers on UA-cam. Thank you.
lovely
Wow. Speechless. Well covered @4:30
Great player you are, great energy... speechless regardless
Smh u killed it man Great Job
Oh, my! Very nice!! Thanks!!!
Wow.Terrific job playing this one. Really makes me appreciate Steely Dan's songwriting just hearing the piano and the chord progressions.
What a beautiful, and perfect tribute!
Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands simply because the piano parts are too difficult for me to just sit down & play. EXCELLENT job - I look forward to learning from your great video!
Well done Bro! RIP Walter!
How did you learn that. The phrasing was great.
beautiful.
Well done. All the nuances are there it seems. I was adding the other musical parts in my head as you were playing. When you get to the first Steve Gadd solo part, then after Wayne and Steve's tight groove I heard that "recovery" keyboard playing that Donald does. You know, the big crecendo then the calm. I'm not a keyboard player and I don't know how some one learns to play Aja. It does not seem easy. If it were me, I would send this to Donald, see what he thinks. BTW, that Yamaha is a great sounding keyboard. Tonally it sounds so close to the piano Victor Feldman played on Aja. Victor and Wayne, both have worked extensively with Mile Davis. What a lineup of musicians on this classic record.
Excellent commentary Rick. I appreciate it. Yeah that is a once in a lifetime lineup of musicians.
Wasn't it Michael Omartian who played the keyboard on Aja (the track)?
Wow!!!! I need a tutorial
Beautiful!!...Brava
Focus and effort pays dividends. Well done..... Bravo 🎼🎶🎹
Great job!

Very nice indeed. Do you have a transcription. ? Would like to get this up. Several months work but worth it!
Beautiful rendition, true to the original. Do you offer the sheet music for this cover?
Thank you. I don't have sheet music but I do plan on doing a tutorial. Thanks for your kind words. :)
@@MichaelBroeningMusic I only read music, I am looking for a true rendition (like yours). Any recommendations? Thx and I look forward to the tutorial.
When I am looking at UA-cam, half the time I am wondering why people post such crap videos that have no talent or are in anyway interesting.
Your wonderful rendition of Aja is to me, one of the finest Videos I have ever enjoyed. Thank you.
Thank you for the nice words Charlie :) :)
would have been nice to offer a tutorial...
You Got it. I'll be offering tutorials on this as well as many others in the near future. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
Michael Broening Piano
Yes please make a tutorial
Is this piano the Yamaha s90es?
It's actually a M08 triggering a Native Instruments sampled grand.
