I lost 1 month worth of footage that would have been added to this video but was able to put in some work, capture more footage that can explain some key concepts when lurking in the passing lanes. Combine this style with your ability to play on ball and stop the bow by drive (explained in my last defensive video) and you will definitely have a more stressful defense to go up against! The same concepts explained in this video can easily be adapted for man to man/pick and roll defensive scenarios. Good luck out there! PS: This style of defense is NEEDED due to the lack of IQ that the AI defenders display in game. No matter the settings, cpu will often get beat back door, help when not needed to, or just get caught out of position often. You may swear by staying on ball at all times, but to take your game to the next level you must be able to switch off and play the passing lanes.

Great video. This is the kind of defense which is the nightmare of most players especially for those who arent using play. I think its easier to anticipate the pass if you bait your opponent by that. However if your opponent is good in utilizing the play and read& react style its going to absolutely different outcome. So fastbreak lovers style of play this is your kryptonite.

Yo, so are you spamming the square in the passing lanes or trying to time it? I struggle with the fact I’m keeping my eyes off the ball to fill lanes and I don’t see the passing motion start with the ballhandler and I mistime my steal attempt. If I spam square I feel like it slows my recovery time down too much. Appreciate your help bro.
If you hit square like 1.5 seconds before the ball is thrown, the steal will still register. If I'm dead set on the ball going to that area, then I'll hit it 2-3x. But sometimes it's just once, then I switch to another open area, hit it once, then go back to defend the ball and stop a blow by, then move someone else into a lane and hit steal etc etc etc. Watch guys like Tydebo, TJErrday, Goggles etc. They are very good at passing lanes.
ironically i just pulled this video up as i matched up against a guy with a bunch of galaxy opals and he plays exactly like what this defense is meant to stop
It doesn't work anymore when they did an update I noticed it..you also notice it once you play 2-3 zone I was winning so many games playing this defense and then after the update I noticed that the center will just sit there and let the opponent score you will notice it to let me know
Couple questions on execution. Do you tap square, and when do you press it? I heard you say you can press square before he passes it?!? and When is it to late to press square?
Yessir. So about 1 second or so before a pass is made you can register steal and switch elsewhere and you player will still begin the animation if a pass is made in that direction. There is no too late really. If the ball is in the air you can still time it. But your player will obviously react late if the ball is already passed you.

Not really. Off of a missed shot this defense would have to be set up. But playing the passing lanes I'm general will help with fast break. If you miss a shot, learning how to get in the lanes to stop passes from.advancing up the court. Good efficient offense is the best way to stop fast breaks. Missed 3s lead to transition baskets.
Really this defense is so good because it gets you more possessions. It’s almost impossible to actually “stop people” I been wrecking people through . I done beat da landlord on Xbox and only lost by 3 the other 2 games we played

Depends on my opponent. But usually don't run it much with man. Sometimes though. Meeting that at half court can help your pressure. Especially those that use the explosive behind the back alot

Just got slaughtered twice trying to run this defense my players would let them run right in the middle of the lane and those corners were wide open I could barely ever steal it I’m gonna keep trying
Up to you. Sometimes I put deny. Sometimes I leave it. Toy with it and see what works best for you. I switch around so much that it usually doesn't matter
Why doesn't extended pressure not work for me bro? I put it on for point guard and it never presses, which defeats the whole purpose of the scheme lol. Get killed with open 3 if theres no pressure.

Does any1 else feel like some tryhards figured out a way to mess with your controls or kinda lagswitch you. I'm under the assumption that it is server based not host based when playing online, so they shouldn't be able too. But I swear when playing against certain tryhards, somehow some way my controls won't work, especially R1 to switch between players. It feels like I'm laggy but Everytime I check my internet connection im above 200 mps. I'm connected on Ethernet, I've bought new controllers multiple times just in case. Everything works great on all other online games. I'm just getting frustrated!😠 And no I'm not a sore loser I can admit when some 1 is better then me,but what I'm talking usually only happens against sweatys when I start beating them then like clock work all of a sudden my controls are wonky and it feels like my players are always a step behind theirs no matter what settings I use. I'm just curious if it's only me or if it happens to more ppl. I seen videos of cheat engines on PC but I'm on PS4. Plz help

Yeah I noticed when I switched to a 2-3 instead of the 3-2 I was locking up more cuz there was actually 3 on in the front court

Don't move and steak unless you are sure it's coming in the next few seconds. But standing still you can press it multiple

All depends. Sometimes the plays can get too jumbled. Need spacing in order to stretch the defense

Help defense. Make them use the weakest shooter/ball handler on the court. Can't just allow Tmac to go around the screen. It's a 3 every time

A bit unrelated: how do you stop the defensive rebound immediate-steal cheese? Some players do it 2-3 times a game.
Get the rebound and don't turn around to rush or go up the court like we all do lol.
