I've put together a few of these but I still had to put power in the form of a battery or solar cell etc. So no free energy apart from the solar but that still cost money and needs a constant light source. Please don't lie.

Important research and military sites abandoned solar power a long time ago. Because they know how to use free energy. The grid itself is also a source extracted from free energy. Articles about fuel scarcity or new coongngheej are all just an act.

Can be improved to create a large source of energy for the family. Did you do that?

    That was... entertaining... sort of.
The circuit shown is a pretty basic switch-mode regulator.
It does NOT "produce free energy".
In that configuration it does deliver a higher output VOLTAGE than the VOLTAGE you put in.
But, in order to do so, it requires more current at the lower input voltage...
You use low voltage at high current to "charge the coil"...
Then you extract the energy you put into the coil at higher voltage but lower current...
So it is acting as a "voltage step up device" and NOT "creating free energy.
The OVERALL ENERGY you get out is slightly LESS than what you put in.
Yes, "we are all surrounded by various energy fields"...
These include the Earth's electrostatic potential and magnetic field...
As well as leakage from power lines and the power being broadcast by various radio devices...
And, in theory, with proper equipment, you could extract or tap some of that energy...
But the amounts of energy involved are VERY TINY over any given area or distance...
(You can probably light a single small LED using an antenna a few hundred feet long.)
(You could also theoretically light an LED, using a proper antenna, by holding it near your WiFi router...)

      Where did you copy this?
I read it and it felt familiar. It seems like the slogan for suppressing free energy has arrived?
Please reply to the copied content:
      This is not a transformer.
The reverse induced emf will be blocked by the Diode. Take a look at the electrical circuit. (you haven't seen it yet?).
You are just a Bot, or a parrot that has learned to speak in some way.

I'm sorry - but YOU need to go back to school.
This is a slight variation on a basic "boost regulator".
(I didn't analyze the exact details because they just plain don't matter.)
Assuming that it works at all....
When energy flows in through the wire it generates a magnetic field...
This energy is then stored in that magnetic field...
Then, when the current is "cut", the field collapses, and the energy exits via the other wire...
The induced EMF exits the system through that top diode and is used to charge the output capacitors.
It cannot go back the way it came in so it exits through the outgoing diodes and charges the output capacitors...
HOWEVER the bottom line is that YOU DO NOT GET MORE ENERGY OUT THAN YOU PUT IN.
Not only is this stated by the laws of physics...
But nobody has ever demonstrated an ability to break those laws...
AT MOST you could pick up a really tiny extra bit of energy from things like the Earth's magnetic field...
And maybe a really tiny amount from the Earth's electric field and the 60 Hz noise all around us...
But that amount will be really REALLY tiny... to the point of being negligible... and far less than the losses in the system itself.

      @@ultimateenergizerguide467 That person's not a "bot".
the reason it sounds "familiar" is because what he wrote is literally textbook.
Any inductor that uses more than 2 ends to it is automatically declared a "transformer", the reason is one or more aspects of the inductive load is "transformed":
      Current transformed into voltage,
      voltage transformed into current,
Magnetic flux transformed into a feedback signal (for 1:1 transformers).
Note I have a Tw@tter account under the same handle and I also have a neocities website under the same handle (albeit I mainly perform activism against a particular bully and their "comrades" to prevent medical misinformation from them destroying my access to medical help that I and others rely on).
This means clearly I'm not a bot.
I too lit up an LED with nothing more than a long piece of wire, the ground pin on a plug, capacitor, germanium diode, custom adjustable 100-turn coil and tuning capacitor, much like what OP is describing.

@@keithlevkoff8579 The induced electromotive force goes backwards, into a place where there is no resistance, passes through the diode, then into the capacitor to charge, or into the battery to charge.
That's old 9th grade knowledge: Current will choose a place without resistance to pass through first in a parallel circuit. Middle school knowledge.
Voltage transients will give greater energy.
If you are an engineer, re-read the works of Charles Proteus Steinmetz to start learning again.
I think you are a paid opinion columnist or someone who has been deeply brainwashed by shallow education.

I really wish I was "a paid opinion columnist"... money is always useful...
But I'm afraid I'm just someone who actually PASSED all my science courses.
Voltage transients DO NOT "give more energy"...
That circuit, when set up properly, will allow you to input high current at low voltage and get out lower current at higher voltage...
You can also choose values and timing such that you can put in a smaller amount of energy for a long time then get it all back in a short burst...
However the OVERALL NET ENERGY that you get out will NOT be more than the TOTAL ENERGY that you put in...
It will be the same - minus some small loss due to the efficiency of the circuit itself.
Just as the various "perpetual motion machines" using flywheels... in the end you DO NOT get out more than you put in...
If you REALLY think you have found a way to get "free energy" then you should probably start a power company...
Right after you win that Nobel prize...
