Thank you for making it easy to find
Really appreciate the way you educate, from one to another. You talk about using india ink the way I teach blacksmithing, for what that's worth.
Oh, and from a past life in the print industry, and my regular work in the forge, the various industrial hand cleaners -- Orange, Gojo, Goop, etc. -- do a pretty good job with even dried India ink. I tend to go for the pumice versions, but I have blacksmith hands.
Thanks Timothy! Blacksmithing sounds exciting. Always great to meet other teachers!
Light rubbing with a pumice stone while washing hands is pretty effective at removing inkstains.
My drawing professor played your video in class. We use slightly different vocabulary in the classroom but other than that he thought it was great enough to show us. We appreciate the thorough demonstration and explanation!
I’m so glad it could help your class 🤩. Thanks for the encouragement and gratitude, it means a lot!
Most my favorite teachers where art teachers.
Your students have a great teacher.
Enjoyed your personality.
Fantastic intro - learned so much in 20 minutes. Looking forward to actually trying this out. This video is a playlist keeper! Thank you
So glad you learned something and enjoyed 💕 thanks for the encouragement!
i....i already know how to use ink, and there wasn't anything new to me in here, but it was an absolutely wonderful refresher, and i wish i started off watching this video a couple years ago when i began using ink. if any of my friends get into using brush/dip pens and inks, im sending them this video
Laen Laen thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Thank you - thank you. So much info for a beginner. Clear and concise. Fun.
I wish I saw this sooner! It's just what I needed!!
Your words are like honey in the mouth of a bear. :D Thank you!
Thank you. You're a superb communicator.
Fantastic info reviews and great examples all along the way. Thanks!
aww thanks Datt! Kind words are like love glitter on my weary soul! :D
Awesome video! Can't wait to play with my ink.
Awesome I used india ink for a while now and still learnt some cool new things!
Awesome content, subscribed
Thank you! This was very helpful. I haven't used India Ink since HS art foundations classes, so this was a great way to get back into it and learn what kinds of tools I prefer to use with it.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the encouraging comment, I love to know my videos are useful to you!
Another technique which creates a beautiful effect is stippling. Awesome and informative video! Thanks!
Wow wow wow. Great information and I enjoy your style.
This is such a great tutorial! Love your style of instruction. TFS 🙏🎨🙌
Great job. Awesome info thanks!💜
This video is super helpful! Thank you so so much :D
Thank you for the tutorial. Was looking for information on pre-filled Pens but this was useful.
I subscribed straight away. Informative and fun.
Thanks for Sharing! Im teaching my own class on India ink next week, I won't be using your worksheet but I still going to pay for it as its a really good resource :) and it's helpful to see how others explain things
Valuable beginner information! You are a great online teacher, Thanks!
Thanks Andrew 🤩
Educational and entertaining!! Great video🤓
Thank you for this tutorial! The quality is amazing, and the video it's very relaxing and funny :). I love it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very helpfull.
Thankyou for your values
This is such an EXCELLENT tutorial video!! I can tell you spent years and years perfecting your teaching skills, and many hours and thoughts making this video. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. 🤗
It hasn't just refreshed all the basics for me in a relatively short time span while keeping me engaged throughout, it also taught me a lot of wonderful new ideas and tricks to use in my own teaching efforts.
And I can tell from the comments that many others feel the same way. Have you ever considered doing teaching workshops, where you provide other teachers with helpful creative tools to improve their educational efforts? Because I'm sure that would be super well received. I feel many people teaching non-creative subject matters aren't quite as well-versed in making the learning experience enjoyable and engaging, and aren't quite sure where or how they can obtain these ideas and skills.
☘️
Thank you so much! I enjoyed these tips as my ink is very thick and you said I can add water!! Yeah!
This was excellent 🙏🏾
Great tutorial
I just found uoue channel and I enjoy your content. I like how you said maybe you can buy a car that doesny sound like the apocalypse or pay off your school loans if we buy the template to print . i feel ya! My car has a whole in the exhaust currently that i keep trying to patch weld. Ive got to break down and hopefully find a way to make the money it takes to fix the muffler.
I will definitely be a new viewer. I got back into India ink and watercolor recentlt and my ink came in the mail today. So i am watching refresher videos. New supporter here
Good luck with the car Adam! It is my prayer that we both get new ones! And I'd love to see some of your ink drawings.
fantastic!
Awesome tutorial, thank you!
Hey, where can I download the worksheet for this?

Great video, humour mixed in, my kind of video
YAY!
I am an adult grown up person living in the Faroe Islands and I found this really helpful :) Takk Fyri (Thank you)
Takk Fyri! I really appreciate the encouragement and am so glad you found it helpful! 💕
I'd be so happy to buy your work sheet but don't see the place to do so. I think you're an incredible teacher and LOVE your style! Your students are SOOOOO fortunate. Press on! :)
Thanks Kathleen. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for the support!
thanks for your efforts
It's my pleasure
Great information sharing, thank you! Love your (sarcastic) humor too! 😁
Humor is the only way to sustain teaching as a career 🤣. Well, also love... but mostly sarcasm. LOL.
Awesome! Thanks!
So welcome 💕
Great video
Love your humour.
Excellent, thank-you
You are so welcome!
I teach high school art and i loved this. I wish we were coworkers, you could teach me so much :)
I would love that!
@@MissLinneaLark ohh man! You're cool! Loving your vibe. New sub.
What a great tutorial! Simply explained. No unnecessary talking . Thank you.

Thanks 😊 so much!!!
What a fantastic video! I am so happy to have found you here and find you teaching style clear, detailed, easy to understand and inspiring. Subscribing now.
I am homeschooling 3 kids, ages 10-14 and have for almost 10 years. Oldest is attending a local art school (virtual this year). Last fall we made ink, using poke berries from our yard, and we have India ink on hand, too. We’ve stored the poke berry ink away from UV light and it is still a beautiful deep purple-ish color.
I am wondering if you have any experience working with homemade inks, or know if I need to add gum Arabic or anything to it if archiving our work, or if spraying with clear spray paint or anything like that may help lock in the color, to keep it from turning brown. Any tips for using organic or alternative inks welcome.
Thank you for sharing! I am so excited to watch this video again with the kids and to try all of these techniques.
Wild Rose Tea first of all, THANK YOU 💜. Second of all you should know that my mother is Canadian and I grew up on wild rose tea (red rose)💜 we could never wait to see what ceramic animal figurine was inside! I’m so glad you found me, but I have no experience in making inks although poke berry ink sounds like a BRILLIANT lesson plan and so many of my students are environmentalist! We would have so much fun. Good luck and sorry I wasn’t more help!
@@MissLinneaLark what a cool memory! It turns out that while the ink in the well is still a beautiful deep color the test pieces I wrote out a few weeks ago have turned a lite brownish color. I think I may try a few experiments with fixatives and see what happens.
I watched a few more of your videos and found your 10,000 hour illustration goal stood out especially since my youngest set a goal for herself to become an illustrator and set her mind to getting a few hours a week two years ago, and is still going strong.
Then I was checking out your playlists and saw “Windows Down” and was like, that is familiar, what a coincidence!!! I opened my Apple Music just to check (as it’s been a while with us being home mainly since March) and one of my favorite music playlists I titled on there “Driving with the Windows Open” haha!
(Edited to fix a few typos, oops! 😆)
Thanks ❤❤❤❤👍
excellent tutorial
Glad you think so!
AMAZING! Thank you. Subscribed and liked. Have a beautiful day :)
YAY! Welcome to my channel and YOU have a beautiful day!
Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Hi hannah. Can you see my drawing too.😊 hope you will like it
Nice once I tried these Inks on a shirt turned out good how do I stop the ink from bleeding on fabric
I am not sure... I would imagine the fabric and how tight the blend would effect it’s bleeding. Similar to the different types of paper, you could test different fabrics. I seam to remember denim works well. So maybe thick and tight fabrics??? Hope that helps.
Thanks for showing a lot of things you can do with ink. There's a specific black and white ink drawing I was wondering how the artist got the very subtle shading on it that they did. I could tell you what it is, if you think you might have time to try to answer the question?
I could give it a try ;)
"I now take a moment to reflect on my values" - a mood for 2020
Melissa Nathalia ah hahahahaha
Cool video, I really like it. [p.s. btw it's "bristles"]
THIS IS SOOO HELPFULL.
I've had a calligraphy ink pen for ages but never dare use it. I always get blotts of ink... No matter what I do
So glad you enjoyed it! Have you seen the the glass tipped nibs? Maybe you'd like that!
How do you keep your dip pens clean? I use speedball India ink, and it dries onto the pen while I’m writing. It doesn’t interfere with my writing, but it’s very hard to clean off.
Claire I usually dip my pen in water and then gently rub with a cloth. If you are still having issues wash it more often, not just when you’re finished. Hope this helps!
Does the cleaning with bowling vinegar is working with the brushes that have ink in the glue?
I have never tried this! Interesting idea though.
You’re a hoot - you’d be a fun instructor
Question: how many times did you have to edit out laughing? This video was amazing. 😆
🤣 it is a lot of editing out laughing… sometimes I leave it but I try to make the videos as short as possible so most of it gets cut. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks
hi, for removing ink, you can use rubbing alcohol
What do you do with the water that was used to wash out the brushes? Do you just dump it down the sink?
Yes. India ink isn’t hazardous. But if you prefer you can always water the daisies.
@@MissLinneaLark Thank you for the reply!
I have a small bottle of india ink that’s over 6 years old… it seems to still be good… but wondered… How long does india ink last before it goes bad?
I have had some crack and crust and dry out… but as long as your bottle is air tight, it’ll prolly last a long time.
Very demanding. But I like it... Do that now. !!!
Can you fill the ink into a waterbrush with water?
Yes! I have never done it but I believe you can. And there are preloaded ones that you can buy with straight ink inside.
bristles... for future reference
Hahaha, I had literally just asked Siri how to spell barrel and was self conscious that the long gaps between drawing would look bad in the video. Oh well, the secrets out, I am a terrible speller! My students already know. Anytime I teach on the white board I usually end up asking the kids to sound it out and stop interrupting me every other word 😂 and then we have a good laugh. Thanks for helping a teacher out! 😉
funny and educated. :)))
WOW, I thought I had a lot of nib holders...
NomeX haha that’s the classroom set. 😉 If it was my personal set, there would be slightly less rusty bent ones. Haha
I think you mean the “Ferrule” not the “Barrel”. A barrel brush is a type of hair brush
Bless you Pamela!
I watched this video in art class
I hope you had fun with India ink 🤩
You should totally lend your voice to animation. It’s so listenable.
LOL that would be awesome!
you sound like the everdrunk art teacher
Polly Woggy you might be shocked, but you are not the first person to suggest that. But it’s 100% joy. I’ve never even had a sip of alcohol.
@@MissLinneaLark that's my goal in life, to sound drunk without drinking
Not me here because I need an excuse for my parents to buy me India ink so I can give myself a stick and poke 💀
lol, I highly recommend professional tattoo artists. I had a student come to school once with a giant, self-made, hand-drawn, badly proportioned kermit the frog tattoo on his forearm... lets just say regrets were strong. Talk about a conversation starter :'D
@@MissLinneaLark I was just going to make a small tiny one lol
Indian ink from China bruh
Like so many wonderful things :D
@@MissLinneaLark You are right
i don`t want to do it NOW ;)
LOL. The "now" is because I know that if I put a specific period on there my kids in the other periods will get jealous and think I like that period the best, LOL. Teacher life.
Do that now
G'head
I can't begin to express these phrases made me want to impulsively throw my computer out the window every time you said them.
Stop telling me what to do. I'm here to learn, not be ordered around.
I don't even have India ink. I'm not even and artist. Why did I watch this whole video? I should stop procrastinating.
Haha it was a long video too 🤣 I say you get some India ink and give it a go! Everyone starts at the bottom! You don’t have to be an “artist” to try it out. Just play and experiment. Maybe buy the worksheet (🤣 no pressure) and see if you like it. Good luck, just a guy!
@@MissLinneaLark You're too kind. Really commend you're work. We need more teachers like you. Especially since you're a public school teacher.
Instead of me trying it I'll introduce your videos to my sister instead she loves art and wants to make a career out of it. Messing around with inks and paint isn't really my cup of tea. But she might enjoy it. ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
