We had an entire movie focusing only on karna (Daana Veera Soora Karna) an entire movie focusing only on Krishna Arjuna yudham (Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddhamu 1963) an entire movie only about the marriage of Abhimanyu and Sasirekha(mayabazar-1957).
We had the story of ramayanam in 1958.
That doesn't mean bollywood didn't do anything (the very first mythological movie in India was Raja Harishchandra after all). I am just saying respect all languages and the cultural impact they produce.
