Actually, their entire fight plan WAS to use their athletics and they are some of the greatest fighters to ever live, so no, your statement of, "None of the greatest fighters ever in the sport were athletes", is completely false and untrue.
It’s obvious some of you are Mayweather fans. You’re also trying to redefine what a fighter is to suit your argument. Let’s take Floyd for example. He’s a hell of an athlete. No doubt. He’s no fighter though. While a fighter might try not to get hit, he doesn’t run away from it either. Combat sports are a thing because it’s exciting watching two combatants try to inflict enough pain and/or damage to one another until one has had enough. If it wasn’t about that then it would never have become a sport. The very beginnings of boxing was people wanting to watch two guys duke it out. It drew crowds. Slowly more and more rules got introduced but at it’s core boxing remained a competition between two men doing combat and that’s what people expected to see. Why did boxing start to die out when Klitschko was sitting atop the heavyweight division?! Because nobody wants to watch a boring point fighting match. Again that’s not what boxing ever was. I think that was his game plan, end it soon shock the world, but Tyson's chin was ironclad, example when Razor hit him with an uppercut then followed with a left hook, Tyson's response one of the best left hook counters you'll see which dropped Ruddock. Mike Tyson's chin was never a subject matter prior to this fight, obviously he destroyed everyone before him. Razor Ruddock hit him with all his might several times and Mike ate those shots. Donovan's a very sincere person. Having met him in about 2006. I was working on some customization of his truck. He told us that Iron Mike was pretty gracious after the fight andd told him personally, that was the hardest he'd ever been hit. Not that it did Razor any good but it was profound coming from the former champ. So much so that He and Mike still remain friends to this day. George, not so much.

If Tyson had stayed disciplined and fought Douglas, Holyfield and particularly Lewis like this, he'd have retired the undisputed champion. He showed he could take a punch and counter punch in the Norton class. Great fight here against a much bigger and equally powerful fighter.
If Razor had contacted that first home run attempt that fight may have ended much differently. Both fighters had enormous power in those punches. This fight is one for the history books for sure. They were both trained and ready for this fight.
I always thought this was a most underrated Tyson fight (or any HW battle) just monster rocking shots, great energy, both with BAD bad intentions although yes it was stopped wrong (in most opinions) and I loved the rematch too. Great upload!
What an unbelievably beautiful stoppage. Wow. Not a punch more was needed. Beautiful! Mike was amazing. He was that good... he needed refs to stop him while his opponents where still standing.
Tyson was completely shot and finished as a fighter when he fought Lewis. Waaay past his prime, Tyson became a flat footed 1 punch brawler at that time. Money and nothing else was his motivation to step in the ring. Not taking anything away from Lewis he was a great fighter in his own right.
I can remember watching this live on Sky. U have to give Tyson credit for taking this fight because Ruddock at the time was probably the most dangerous contender around along with Tyson. But he beat him well...twice. I'd actually forgotten how good Tyson was in this fight, although I think Steele definitely stopped it too early!
The Smash. A left uppercut/hook mix that was Ruddock's signature punch. He got an incredible amount of leverage behind it. So much so that when he missed with it he would often go stumbling forward.
Its what made mr TYSON a true warrior,he might brake you bones .but not the desire to kill someone in the ring.,but Thats my personal opinion.just the ass whipping and K.O. said it all.thats what boxing as a sport is all about.Till this day, iron Mike Tyson is a gladiator maximus, and with His come back,my hat is off to him.Sir ( Wise as a serpent but harmless to the sport.) God speed mr Tyson.fz
Razor was such a better fighter than given credit for. Lots of power, good speed, could take heavy punishment and recover ( how the hell that man got up after Morrisons' left knocked his soul out, is beyond me ), stood toe to toe with Mike and dished it back. Mike too had a great chin, often overlooked. Miss those days.
When Holyfield defeated Buster Douglas, he was supposed to fight Razor Ruddock next but opted to fight George Foreman instead. A prime Holyfield against this version of Ruddock would have made for some explosive action. Ruddock is probably the greatest heavyweight of his era to never win a world title.
Ruddock was a goof who didn't know how to use his height and jab. If he did he would beaten short Mike by keeping him away until it was time to unleash the big right. This is how Lewis beat Tyson. But Lewis was also a smart fighter.
Watched this live in Brooklyn NY as a kid. Routing for the homie from Bed-Stuy but given mad respect to my man from Jamaica 🇯🇲. Still an all time great fight.
No it wasn't because when they had a rematch Tyson broke Ruddy jaw in the 2nd round and the ref didn't know so the fight continue but Razor was never the same after that fight than he eventually retired

100% right. In my opinion the best ever.
@@theinformationbomber7102 I want to see Mike Tyson knock out Floyd Mayweather

Actually he said about Tyson fury
Then also he lost 😅
Wilder will be knock out easily on tyson prime... That's for sure.. 😂😂😂😂
Underrated comment
Tyson is 5'10 Wilder is 6'7 Wilder may be a bad boxer but he is way too big and strong for Tyson.
@@Mericaa47 wilder got beat by a costume and a gypsy with mostly natural skills, pretty sure the destroyer was smaller than Joshua too #noheightclass
Ruddock's lead hand uppercuts have so much back swing leverage to them that it's surprising that not one of them took Mike's head clean off. Just shows how much of a beast Mike was.
right
Yesss! So deadly and lethal, any other boxer would have been kissing the canvas if they were hit by such blows. But as we all know Tyson was far from normal lol.
Mikes neck is pretty thick. That helps
This video is a year old and I just watched it three times in a row. The damage these two inflicted on one another is what makes this Legendary.
Two of the hardest hitters in the history of the sport.
ur forgetting about jake paul bruh
George Foreman hit harder, and Sonny Liston, and Lennox Lewis, among others.
@@jimnewcombe7584
Ali fought and beat both Liston and Foreman, and never said anything about them being hard hitters. At least Ali had a better reference point than any of today's boxers to say whether Foreman or Liston were hard hitters.
@@RG-tt1ru Both fights with Liston look very suspicious to me, and plausibly rigged.

both of these fights were great. so underrated. as good as any boxing match any time anywhere. i have often wondered why nobody talks about these two fights. razor was a beast who is forgotten with time. everyone knows about mike but this man put him to the test of all the opponents in his prime.

Closest to Rocky you'd get in real life, amazing fight, took alot of heavy punches

The embarassment on Ruddock's face when he got knocked on his ass 😁 good chin though, probably only fighter to stand up to Tyson in his prime.
Yea, was thinking that.. hell of a strong guy.. but tyson was on Another planet
“Blood” Green went the distance with Mike in his undefeated pre-Tokyo era.
Ruddock was not in the class of Lennox , Bowe, Holyfield . Didn’t have the technique or chin
@@bobbyhulll8737 - Tyson wasn’t the same fighter mentally by the time he fought Holyfield and Lenox.
@@jwdathefax377 maybe but he didn’t fight many top HW during his reign so all you can really say is that he was very very good an all time talent but we don’t know if he was better than Lewis or Holyfield or Bowe .. @MrInvisible777 he hit tyson w hella uppercuts so wym
Tyson has a hell of a chin
@@edwinheredia3735 you mean helluva neck
I think that was his game plan, end it soon shock the world, but Tyson's chin was ironclad, example when Razor hit him with an uppercut then followed with a left hook, Tyson's response one of the best left hook counters you'll see which dropped Ruddock. Mike Tyson's chin was never a subject matter prior to this fight, obviously he destroyed everyone before him. Razor Ruddock hit him with all his might several times and Mike ate those shots. He may have rocked him but to say one of the greatest fighters of all-time would of been floored in the opening seconds, is a bit of a stretch to say the least.
The Tyson razor Ruddock 1 and 2 is probably the most entertaining fight
I ever seen
Tyson fights with Ruddock were his best
Ruddock hit like mule kick. Tyson hit like freight train.
One of the best fight I seen in the 90s
razor was amazing, but tyson lives through his nickname iron mike
Iron Mike was unstoppable back in the day then Don King got his hooks in him and toppled the guy.
Against diluted opposition. ...got slapped b c class douglas and we all know what happened when he fought elite fighters .....

What did Don King do to "topple" Mike Tyson??
@Erich Von Manstein Well what he wrote was the truth!!

Both guys taking and giving hard shots. Mad respect to both fighters.
That was a bs stoppage. I respect dude for not backing down

I don't mean to be rude im just blunt he’s a boxer, not a fighter
He had heart but he could have DIED literally ‼️
The ref can actually hear how hard he is b'n hit. Good stop cus they fought again. He wouldn't have gotten another payday if his head was splattered on the deck🤷🏿♂️
Some have bleeding hearts for a blood sport. Let the knockout happen.
Bs stoppage? He had spaghetti arms dangling by his sides.. ZERO defense. I don't know what fight you watched lol
I remember this fight like yesterday! One of the best bouts that year.
If Ruddock boxed today he would be the CHAMP!!!!! The 90s was the best decade for heavyweight boxing!!!!
Tyson after every 10 sec - This isn’t even my final form
Powerful statement, after every 10 seconds
I think Richard should’ve gave Razor his just due to go out in his shield. Razor was landing good shots on Mike and he had a chance if he was allowed to. Respect to Mike for giving him another go because those two fights with Mike was some entertaining stuff
Yeah considering how well Ruddock was fighting up until that point I would have given him another minute or so before I stopped the fight..IF Rudduck stopped throwing punches..

If Tyson had stayed disciplined and fought Douglas, Holyfield and particularly Lewis like this, he'd have retired the undisputed champion. He showed he could take a punch and counter punch in the Norton class. Great fight here against a much bigger and equally powerful fighter.
0:36 anyone else feel that body shot lol
Lol man I rewound that hit about 20 times. Hellacious
If Razor had contacted that first home run attempt that fight may have ended much differently.
Both fighters had enormous power in those punches. This fight is one for the history books for sure.
They were both trained and ready for this fight.
Razor still had more in him..mike knows that was a close one
Most people are too dumb to realize that.
Mike dominated that whole fight?
I always thought this was a most underrated Tyson fight (or any HW battle) just monster rocking shots, great energy, both with BAD bad intentions although yes it was stopped wrong (in most opinions) and I loved the rematch too. Great upload!
Tyson knew Razor pushed him. I love how humble he was
Everyone talks about Tysons power but damn he also could take a punch
What an unbelievably beautiful stoppage. Wow.
Not a punch more was needed. Beautiful!
Mike was amazing. He was that good... he needed refs to stop him while his opponents where still standing.
Tyson threw some nice body shots here. When Tyson fought Lewis I was like “go to the body!!” but Tyson didn’t listen.
Tyson was barely training by the time he fought Lewis
he had lost interest
WolfsH0ok After that I lost interest in boxing for a little while.
Yeah... lol.. Lennox was a little better at punishing the other fighter’s aggression, than the Razor.. That maybe had something to do with it.. lol..
@@jacobjones5269 yeah
That's Pure Boxing.. Strength Vs Power.. #LegendTyson

Ruddok had an amazing left hook
Wicked hook
That UPPER CUT WAS HIS SIGNATURE THO
The Smash. A left uppercut/hook mix that was Ruddock's signature punch. He got an incredible amount of leverage behind it. So much so that when he missed with it he would often go stumbling forward.

Its what made mr TYSON
a true warrior,he might brake you bones .but not the desire to kill someone in the ring.,but
Thats my personal opinion.just the ass whipping and K.O. said it all.thats what boxing as a sport is all about.Till this day, iron Mike Tyson is a gladiator maximus, and with His come back,my hat is off to him.Sir ( Wise as a serpent but harmless to the sport.)
God speed mr Tyson.fz
Tyson (2:05): "C'mon, hit me again..! 💥 Ohh Crap that hurt."
