Many, many years ago, when I was a piano performance major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, I turned the pages for my piano professor Nigel Coxe at a recital of his. Let me say it was more nerve wracking than performing myself. I mean, if I mess up at my own recital, hey, I can deal with it. But if I mess up the page turning, I mess up someone else's recital, which is way worse. After the recital ended, the other professor of piano, Estela Olevsky, made a point of complimenting me on my page turning, which was very gracious of her. And yes, Nigel thanked me too.
HOW do these two VERY POWERFUL INDIVIDUALS play together and not do agogic accents..rubati in their own style and thereby upset the balance: I AM SO SO impressed.

I have played the four hand arrangement back in high school. All of the hard sledding is in the treble part, played here by Kissin. Trifonov plays oom-pa in the bass part. Not surprised if Kissin masters it in 30 minutes and Trifonov can sight read his part. One 30 minute rehearsal to get together on tempo.
Kissin, the greatest living pianist, and Trifonov, the second greatest right under him. We know Gnessin is doing something right. Only thing I don't understand is why does this not have at least one million views?
you are reight, the camera is more focust on Kissin. But as you know Daniil Trifonov does'nt need to be in the foregtound. Easy to see when playing tougether with Babayan, ( waths far more exiting as this Video here) or in Chambermusic. He id not only an incomparable Pianist, he is a charming ,very modest Person ! ❤

@@Prometeur ha! true enough. I have mostly worried about his seeing the piano keys with his long bangs that always fall over his eyes. But it would appear that since he got married he has gotten regular haircuts.

Helps when it is a piece with 2 pianos, you know, to know where the other one is and to be able to go along with any tempo changes, they can defenetly play this by memory but its better to not do that
@@johnnytg1 well its a piece which requires grace and humor, two things Kissin never had (not a criticism, I think he has other things at top), he plays it like automate, he rushes, he emphasizes the rhythmical accents instead of softening them, and so on. What a great performance by both of them! I like how Kissin thanks the page-turner before bowing for the audience

He seems to be a really nice guy

Sight reading ??? No way
They probably aren't sight-reading. They just didn't memorize it good enough so they need some form of queue to know what they're playing.
This is too ez for them 😂
An early work by Rachmaninov? Certainly could have been used in a Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny cartoon.
A strange pastiche, more Offenbach than Rachmaninoff
