Thank you for this extremely realistic outlook! I totally agree 👍 that it’s a huge adjustment with many frustrating situations. I have been coming back and forth between the states and Milan since 1987, since my Italian dual citizen son prefers to live in Italy. As a single woman of 62, there are no opportunities and socializing is more challenging since our habits change. I have been back for 2 years and I’m considering France… Returning to the US would be a huge expenditure
I have to say I think Italy is an easier place to live for students, men with independent professions and comfortably retired people. If you are a woman, especially an older single woman looking to work, the vibe is not good aside from it being extremely difficult.
Refreshing, pragmatic view of everyday life in Italy. I am close to the retirement stage of life and looking to kick the tires on the Southern Italian lifestyle next year. It may only end up being a European vacation base or a new home. I sense there is less ethnic diversity in Italy.
I’ve heard that prenatal and delivery doctors and nurses are horrific in Italy. Rude, lacking in empathy. Too bad since I understand the medical system there is excellent.
It very much depends! personally my delivery team was amazing and I loved them, I also had half and half before, some gynos were absolutely great and very calm with me, others were rude and constantly told me how much weight I was gaining and how I shouldn't wear short dressed. So it's a mix.

I am considering to go for retirement especially if I get dual Italian citizenship. How would a person go about getting good tax advice?
