I actually bought this card as an upgrade from a EVGA GTX 1060 6gb and also swapped cases. It is honestly very impressive because now I have a card that is significantly lower in temperatures under load and I am able to play on ultra running at a minimum of 60fps in games like Witcher 3 next gen and Cyberpunk. Cooling is on the edge, barely engh. 2 fans for 170w tdp is ok at best.. Meaning, in future, running games that would load it to max(which it should and it will), with ageing paste and pads, if fan is set below 100%, cooling might not be sufficient at all. Get a good casing as well.
There is a heat plate (very simple) that covers the GPU and RAM. The RAM has thick thermal pads that do attach to the heatsink, but I am unsure how effective those are. The back plate does come in contact with some components, so those are passively cooled by that unit. Asus has cut holes for other voltage components that then use convection to cool. This is certainly not a high end card made for extreme overclocking. It is an effective card for the price though.
