You know you made it UA-cam golf when Titleist comes to you for a custom fitting ! Last month I sold my TM wedges and got SM9’s bought from 2ndSwing in barely used 9.0 and 9.5 condition. 52 deg was in excellent condition and my 56 and 60 still had demo stickers on them. Hardly showing any wear. Saved about $100-120 over all 3 wedges compared to buying new sm10’s. Awesome wedges
I always like the reviews. That said, I think a wedge review/test is best done on fairways, bare lies, fluffy lies, deep in the rough, in the sand, etc. I am a bad golfer, but beginning to learn that the lie dictates what I can do, and what I should not attempt.
Yep. I play in my simulator, like ricks, gcquad ect. Then come spring, I can’t make a chip or pitch anywhere other than from the fairway. In my sim, no exaggeration, I can hit 20 shot with 60’ and at 80 yards 18 of them shots are within 5 yards. Outside? It’s 3 out of 20 inside 5 yards lol. Only outside on a course can actually be a real test.
Been a Cleveland wedge guy my whole life. Just tested the a few Vokey 60s recently. They are really good. I like them prob about just as much as the Cleveland
I have these wedges in the 48, 52, 56, and 62 degrees, replacing my mix of used random wedges. They definitely helped me feel more confident in my short game!
i just recently bought a set of those, love em. Had to upgrade my old vokey 6's, plus, as we all know, the more money you spend on your golf equipment, the better you will play.
I tried them and absolutely loved them. However, I also tried the Mizuno T24s and loved them more. Went with Mizunos ❤ Could have easily went with Vojeys and been happy. Fantastic wedges
Hey Rick I would like to get the Vokeys, but I was told that it would be better for me to get same type wedges as irons. I play P790 irons, more of a cavity back club. I am an 11 handicap with decent short game. You feel I would be ok for the Vokeys, or maybe better for CBX or S23?
I was going to buy some SM9 now that they're on sale, but the new nickel finish of the SM10 is gonna cost me a lot of money. It's so nice. Reminds me a lot of the Cleveland's "Black Satin", which is almost like a gunmetal. And is by far the best wearing dark iron or wedge on the market, if wear marks bother you.
Vokey only offers the 46° and 48° Pitching Wedges in 10° Bounce F Grind. The 50° and 52° Gap Wedges are F Grind with the choice of 08° or 12° Bounce. Along with my 46°, I carry a 50°- 08° with a 54°-10° S Grind and a 58°-04° T Grind (which is very much like a Low Bounce M Grind.) When I feel the upcoming Stroke requires More Bounce, I can add Bounce to the S Grind by reducing the Normal Forward Shaft Lean, which also Adds Loft. The T Grind allows me to Spin from Tight/Firm Lies while I can also get Height from light rough and/or "Flyer Lies".
I have the 48 10f, absolute weapon. I don’t even use my other wedges now as I can play almost every shot type with this one club. Spin is outrageous as well.
Awesome video! I’ve been playing a Titleist 60° for a long time and love it! By the way - how long is the lifespan of wedges? I play about 20 times a year and practice in the backyard occasionally.
hi Rick what grind and bounce do you suggest if I frequently play at the St Andrews Links golf courses? thanks love you content especially the Hit Channel Keep it up!
"Vokey is one of the only wedge brands that add an additional manufacturing process to improve groove wear and durability. The process is called case-hardening or carburization. Vokey “heat-treats” the grooves on their wedges after the club head has been formed and the grooves milled into the face. (Fun fact, that little “toothed wheel” logo on the toe of some older Vokeys is actually a depiction of the carbide cutter that mills out the precise groove.) Case-hardening or “heat-treating” the metal takes a relatively soft 8620 carbon steel from around 62 Rockwell hardness and increases it to 85 Rockwell (Diamond tops the Rockwell Hardness Scale at 100 HRC). However, this process only hardens the “case” of the wedge to a depth of 1-3mm, leaving the “core” relatively soft. If you were wondering why Vokey’s feel so good…now you know."
I'd like to see how these blend in with your new Wilson Staff CB irons Rick with the pitching wedge being more traditional lift if around 47° and your new gap wedge being 50° 👍👍
I got a 58 degree sm10 coney in a silver/ nickel finish about a month and a half ago, and i’ve noticed that the face has started to rust a little. I keep them dry and i was wondering if anyone knew if this was normal or not, i just have no clue.
I almost got the sm10s but chose the mizuno t24 wedges instead there so much nice to hit on full shots. Vokeys felt clicky and hard next to the soft mizunos
That's because the vokey harden their grooves on the face further than other companies like Mizuno. They do this so the grooves don't wear down as fast and so the grooves get more grip on the ball. So they will feel slightly harder but thats worth it if you're paying this much for clubs.
I still play original "red" Vokey Spin Milled (1) and they still work very well. Techinally they are illegal, but I'm pretty sure that after 14 years grooves are not illegally deep anymore 😂
Was playing the MG4’s moved across the country to tight lies and Bermuda. The only left handed low bounce options are from Titleist so I went with a 08 and 04. Would’ve rather stayed with the MG4’s because the Vokey head weights feel super heavy but, TaylorMade doesn’t offer lefty low bounce stuff😢
Absolutely love Vokey wedges. Nothing else works for me like Vokey or fills me with the same confidence. I don't get worked up though about the new releases and simply replace when I need to. Most of the time I'll be the previous generation to save a few bucks and carry on. They are simply the best wedges out there with best grind and bounce options
I like my Vokey’s honestly. But i feel for a new golfer they don’t fit the bill what so ever but for someone who knows their game very well and their specs they might benefit more from a more tailored wedge especially with the amount of bounce and grinds.
Hey Rick love your channels, I look forward to the new videos coming out. Just question/Suggestion: Id love to see reviews or you talk about some more of the DTC clubs, more of the high handicap clubs and super budget clubs.
Definitely could use a new wedge/s due to my gap from 52°-60°, but I think I should work on being able to hit a wedge semi-full before trying to add a wedge to fill the gap.
Why would you go with such a low bounce with the struggles you have with wedges especially around the green? Having a bit more bounce would help you quite a bit I would think? I accidently bought some 6 degree bounce 56 and 60 wedges. I ended up swapping out the 56 to a SM9 with 12 degrees of bounce and I have a lot more confidence around the green.
I found an older Vokey 60 degree in a bargain bin for 5 dollars. It was way too long and had 4 degrees of bounce. I couldn't hit that thing to save my life.
One of the guys I played with a long time ago suggested to have a high bounce in the SW which I had at the time was 54-14 and the lob wedge 60-04 with low bounce. He was telling me that you will have more versatility when around the greens chipping. The SW and LW won’t be too much different with chipping but with different turf and lie you can see what will be better. That last 25 years I’ve kept the same spec basically
Vokey is by far the best wedge out there. I have 3 in the SM6. Looking to upgrade but at $329 AUD per club there isn’t much change from a grand, makes it really hard to justify.
rick you really should try and use higher bounce wedges for your 56 maybe like a 12 degree bounce and make it your go to club for standard chips. the higher bounce may really help you as its much more forgiving than a 8 degree
Bounce Choice is as much a Function of Delivery as it is Turf/Sand Conditions. Higher the Angle of Attack equals Higher Bounce and vice versa. Path Direction is also a consideration. Out to In (cutty) is helped by More Bounce. In to Out (draw bias) benefits from Less Bounce.
Review the Vice golf clubs Rick!!! They just dropped, brand new and first clubs the brand has ever made. Don't get me wrong, Vokey are cool and all, but everyone with a brain knows Vokey is one of if not THE best Wedges in the game. So it's not necessarily that interesting of a video confirming they are indeed as great as we all knew they were.
vokeys are the most overrated wedges on the market. other than bounce and grind options, which are tremendous, they significantly lack in every other category, whether it be spin, wet and dry conditions, launch, and mostly feel. they feel like cinderblocks.
Let's face facts. We've all watched and love,Rick. Doesn't matter bounce, degrees of loft of wedges. His wedge game won't change. Will still be horrible. 😂
Same bounce on all? Why not give yourself more options? I like medium, high, and low bounce options for my gw, sw, lw (respectively) and feel it gives me more versatility. Can play lw for tight lies and hard sand. Sw for soft sand and rough. Gw is fine for fairway and semi
There’s not much difference with wedges honestly vokey just had more grind options. Realistically a brand new sm 7 is probably more viable (not necessarily better) than a worn sm10. If u like the looks of the mg4 than it will work not much improvements in wedges and blades in terms of tech over the years tbh
I was fitted for and bought the new SM10 wedges in April and they are great clubs. IMO significantly improved from prior models by the spin rate and trajectory.
In Australia , SM10’s are around $300 Aus. I picked up a brand new sm9 (after k owing a guy at my local shop, member discount, etc) for $218. 60 deg, 08m in black. And everyone lay of ricks chipping game, I wish I was good enough to suck at it like he does…. 😂😂 #PrayForRicksShortGame
I'd like to see the new Vice golf wedges and putters. They look sweet. Great video, as always, Rick.
And the irons too!
They look expensive, not sweet

I have a 56 HT that I just put in the bag, love it!

I just bought three Wilson wedges off Amazon for £87 and they've been brilliant.
I got a similar deal. They are great.
I was going to buy some SM9 now that they're on sale, but the new nickel finish of the SM10 is gonna cost me a lot of money. It's so nice. I love the sm10 wedges. My 54 is a workhorse and I can do so much with that club. And I love my 60 for those nice tight flop shots
I went with s159s the loft and grind options are better and no up charge for shaft options
I’ve just got fitted for these and in the bag for last few weeks. They have changed my game. Incredible wedges the 60 out the bunker is money
I have these in 50, 54 and 58.
Best Wedges Evers I don’t use the 58 much per Dan Greaves video.
Vokey only offers the 46° and 48° Pitching Wedges in 10° Bounce F Grind.
The 50° and 52° Gap Wedges are F Grind with the choice of 08° or 12° Bounce.

I have heard wedge grooves are good for about 100 rounds of golf.
i got the sm10s in 50F,54F,58S they all feel really good. and the 58 for bunkers shots feels amazing, not a single bad shot from the bunker yet.
I just picked up a 50, 54 & 58 SM10's, I've played 2 rounds with them so far and love them. Only the Ping S159 comes close,
I had vokeys a few years back. really liked them, but nothing really different from the other OEMs. always thought they were a little overrated.

got these recently, 60,56,52. I love them
Worth noting that American Golf do deals on wedges sometimes. I got 3 SM10s for £135 each (you got more money off the more you bought)
