Don't worry, I will absolutely get in touch with him, I am excited to find out more history about my car than just "I got it from this bloke for free!", I am just dealing with a lot of things at the moment!
I look forward to seeing your progress. this looks like a light blue beta HPE I owned in the 80's. I took a similar journey with a 1970 fiat 850 sport racer 30 years ago.
That's some CRAZY chassis work! Glad to see someone else putting a 'Big Larry' to use! Such a good video! Detailed break down of the starter too, let's hope you can fire it off in the near future :)
Its amazing with the amount of bodging and abuse the rest of the car has undertaken that the body is in such good condition. Plastic cars are the way to go!
Scimitars are one of the most underrated classics. Looks like this has a Weber 38 DGAS Carb on it as well, they're known for throwing the return fuel line off so when starting it make sure it's not perished and is well attached. The chassis looks interesting. There's a couple of guys who have done Scim resto's on Pistonheads, well worth a gander. Look in "readers cars" for "The flying banana" - He's currently doing the chassis on it. Looking forward to the future eps!!. Good luck :)
this was my Dad's car! Hahaha. I've messaged you on your page on fb. He's been watching your videos with a lot of interest. 😁

This is an excellent episode! Fantastic!
The body is good condition, that's a good start, mechanicals issues are much easier to repair.

Thats a 40 DFAV early Essex with the dipstick on the timing cover.
@@FirstOnRaceDayCapri2904Damn my infernally poor eyesight LOL!.
How far backwards did Reliant want when mounting the engine?
As far back as possible, better for weight distribution, safety and packaging. Even says that in some of their brochures for the time!
Go ahead! Paleeeze!
Are they Metro city front indicators
10 points to that man! Same with the gear knob too. The difference with the two is that I put the gear knob on for a laugh as it came with my mini!
