This was honestly one of my favorite fights of the season. Both bots gave it their all but there could only be one winner. Both were aggressive as hell, both had control (ironically after Shatters drive and weapon got fudged Beta was climbing up those forks a lot more) but Beta won out on damage by crippling the drive and disabling the weapon. Looking at the damage to the wheels and batteries I'm amazed it didn't just die completely. > If you look at both our bots combined, we are 0-4, with 2 of the losses being KOs. It's almost the worst possible way to start a season. (from the post-fight report blog) From purely a statistics view maybe, but Emulsifier has so far given us purely slugfests and Shatter!'s fights have been highly entertaining, even though the wins aren't there. I'll still keep rooting for both bots!
It's ironic that Shatter! should face manoeuvrability issues when confronting Beta. I remember criticising John Reid's choice of steering design way back in the Robot Wars era; his famous/notorious "Wait for a good hit!" quote was all about his otherwise excellent series of hammer- and axe-bots' inability to drive sideways and thus focus attacks. Even with tank-style skid-steer positioning, 1" of over-rotation at the wheels meant that the hammer or axe missed its target by almost a foot. So when Shatter! showed up with its mecanum (?) omni-wheels (or whatever they're called), it looked like the perfect combination. Total rotational control, effortless parallel striking capability, a brilliant hammer design - what could possibly go wrong? Er... Forks. Forks? Aww, poo. Thanks for the update, chaps, and nil desperandum: the good ol' BattleBots Fight Selection Committee has arranged for Beta to be demoted to Omega by another hammer-smashing horizontal spinner. Really? Gosh. What a surprise. Vengeance will be thine, I think. Possibly. Maybe. Allegedly. Perhaps.
I really enjoyed the fight, did feel bad for you Adam after the post-fight interview but you should give yourself credit for letting the fight happen and that you survive the full three minutes well done
Amazing fight, It's always such a joy to see people making a success of machines that don't utilise spinning weapons, looking forward to seeing your next fights and in the tournament, which I'm sure you'll make.
The forks really did you in :( Noticed as soon as the fight started they did more harm than good. Hopefully you can still make it into the playoffs because hammer bots take precision. Spinners are boring to watch :(
Definitely looked like the forks were what did you in. Was hoping you'd have done better, but you take those risks, and sometimes they work, right? Great job anyways!
Love to see Beta doing well, sad to see it against one of my favorites! Really hope the season turns around for your bots!!!
This was absolutely my dream fight, and it lived up to it. Hard luck it didn't work out, seeing those smushed batteries was wild!!

Thanks for this follow up video. I'll always root for classic hammer designs.

This must become one of the best fight ever in modern Battlebots.
Always enjoy your pre and post fight content. Shatter's one of my favourite bots.
This season is SOOO GOOD so far! Loving your bots with their awesome designs!

So Beta beat the slag out of Shatter?
I NEED to see this fight for myself.

Did you do the signing and exchanging of parts with the Beta team at all?
