Dad of 2 kids here. Have to say, the "practicallity + performance" side of the car is undersold to audience like myself. Being able to send the kids to school on the weekdays and still have a fun drive on the weekend makes it and easy buy. Not to mention the easy buy in from the other half as well which is half the battle won. 😁

Edit: I meant the Mk5 is a 2.0 (not 1.8)and is the Spiritual Predecessor of the Mk8, (not the Spiritual Successor)

Awesome review, most people have just whinged about the screen and haptic buttons so much that they give the impression it's a bad car when in fact it's remarkable and significantly better than the previous generation. ps how do you not get arrested doing these on public roads?🤣🤣

Drive safe, please. Traffic in Malaysia may be different from USA, but it made me very nervous when you press motorcycles, keep changing lanes and navigating through traffics without watching mirrors, while talking and waving your hands. 😅

MK5 owner here, it's fast, super reliable with proper maintainence, DSG is fun (this year 200x car has launch control too!), and it's quite rare on the road THB. I always feel that I'm driving some kind of exotic on the road everytime lol.

yes i do have a Mk5 as well as a 2018 vw model, the steering feel is very sharp and a lot of feedback for the mk5, the drive is much more raw.
