Good day all. Regarding gloves, I prefer the light mechanic type gloves, however I do still use leather gloves as well. All of my leather gloves get the same treatment to prolong their longevity and that is done by simply oiling them with any oil including bar oil to used motor oil. The oiled gloves not only last so much longer but are also more supple. The drawbacks are oily hands if you go overboard with the oil treatment and it also takes away from the leather's insulating properties , a definate negative in cold climates. Thanks for the many videos Chris.
Chris...Great content! Even worse than firewood is asphalt shingle removal and re-roofing. I go through a pair of Thomasville leather palm and finger gloves on a single roof job. When my fingertips wear out I cut patches of Carhartt dungaree material, rough up the leather on the finger tips with my Dremel wire wheel, and epoxy the patch in place. I can get 3-4 roofs out of a pair using this fix! My big problem is most glove manufacturers don't make gloves that fit my hands...2-3XL. I got a pair of the Kinco insulated gloves at your suggestion several years ago. They not only insulate against cold but are the best anti-vibration gloves I've ever worn and wear like iron. The Forester brand of anti-vibe gloves aren't too bad for holding up but their 2XL gloves are for Chinese men 2XL hands. I really need a 3XL which they don't make.
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 The best gloves for handling firewood are calluses. Back when I did firewood and cut with a saw full time unless it was cold weather I always worked bear handed and half gloves most of the winter. Take care my friend!!😀💚 Logger Al
Al I was the same way. I hated cutting and handling firewood with gloves. Now that I am older my skin is like tissue paper and a small bump on my hand will now bleed. It’s crazy how our bodies change
I am not one to wear gloves but I have my reasons. But with that said there are times I have no choice like when there is about 3 feet of snow and 20 below zero. Like most products everything is great till it no longer does what it should be doing. Truth is Chris you are right they always wear out at the finger tips and they never do anything to fix that problem. There is a reason for that. The sooner they wear out the sooner you must buy a new pair of gloves. The best pair of gloves I ever owned was a pair I bought from L.L Beans store in Maine.
I've used the same style of gloves you have. Kincos heavy duty ones in the winter time. Full leather ones and the mechanic style gloves. I agree with the cuff style to keep out the chips.
I have found that I try to get the most use for the money. I seem to go to the Hardy gloves from Harbor Freight because of the cost of the cost for the leather cloves. I do find that the cheaper nylon with the coated palms and fingers from the box stores are as good to me as any. I've tried about all gloves and will get any that are available when I need a pair.
I bought some Uline super gripton gloves a couple months ago. Real tough coating on them. They might be a little warm in the summertime, but for $11 a pair its quality merch. It's a good pair for splitting wood as well.
Nice overview of gloves for firewood. What works best for me are the Wells Lamont leather work gloves from costco. The finger tips will eventually wear out though. When the finger tips wear through, I wrap them in duct tape. That gives me about 2 to 3 times the life out of them.
I really like a leather glove the best. They never last very long. I started wearing some gloves with rubber palm. They last about like the leathers but at 14 bucks for 12 pair so lot cheaper. In winter I almost need mittens on. So if can that what I wear. Keep up the good work.
Have you heard about the carnivore diet? I am on that. (primarily) NO ARTHRITIS symptoms, I do not get "stiff and sore" anymore......I also take turmeric daily. I have always ate meat but now that is about all I eat, plus eggs and cheese. (and lot's of butter) Have a great day!!!!!

Hi Chris: For handling firewood, I found the Showa Atlas latex palm gloves hold up the best. For cutting I found Ironclad impact gloves are inexpensive and hold up well. I have a pair of Husqvarna Technical gloves that I’m getting ready to try. I definitely like the Velcro closures on my saw gloves to keep saw dust out. For winter- you can’t beat the Kinco’s. Last year, I waxed the Kinco’s gloves with beeswax and then used a heat gun to melt to let the wax soak in. I found they were more waterproof and they held up to wear much better- almost like a tin cloth glove.
Nice video Chris. I usually buy cheap, any brand, driver gloves for summer. Heavier, sheepskin lined for snowblower operation. I’ve found that my old age skin has become sliver magnetic. GNI
Hardy goatskin gloves both the riding work glove and the mesh back, I am in the right side of mind and little Jim is a righty so the right left gloves tend to balance themselves out for wearing out😉. Safety glasses I have come to favor the ones with built in cheaters 😁available in clear, amber and dark.
The ONLY gloves ive seen with doubled up leather are barbwire fencing gloves ive had the one pair for just over a year, i dont use them every day but often
Have you tried the Husqvarna basic gloves they are $6.00 and they are very good for handling wood especial wet wood. And they do wear out like any glove. I think they are a good value over all.
Iv been wanting to try the super cheap cotton gloves that are really popular with west coast timber fallers. I’m still using worn out atlas gloves I saved from the mill from 2-4 years ago lol I used to wear white ox gloves which are awesome but wear out fast and then I’d just Flip the left or throw an atlas glove under it, the generic white ox seem to last longer
I have problems with the tips getting holes and getting slivers in the palm. Doing yardwork kills my gloves off my gloves also. In pa. We have a weed with thorns like rose thorns but about 1"long. You can pull them up very easily but you have to use a shovel, then pick them up by the roots. I'm just going to get chainmail. 😊
Like you said Chris none of the gloves last very long but try the Harbor Freight HARDY A5 Cut Resistant Work Gloves. They hold up pretty well and very inexpensive. Much better than the nitrile dipped ones.
I have not paid for gloves in years. Between my mother-in-law and the wife, they load up and give them to me for Christmas. I don't remember what they are, but i know they get them from Costco 😉👍
Good morning. Are those dobbers sticking off the left side of your handle for measuring? I’m new to your channel. Thanks for your videos. Really enjoyable to watch.
I've grown to dislike wearing gloves when running a chainsaw. I wear them doing different firewood work but rather have bare hands when using a chainsaw
I have tried them all too and can’t find “the one” for stacking, doesn’t exist. My saw gloves have no finger tips left but the leather palm is fully intact and grip the handle very nicely. Velcro wrists keeps chips out. I wish I knew the brand but that’s worn off too. Sold at Ace Hardware and are bright orange and black. Good topic, thanks.
Definitely need cuffs i hate all that crap getting in the gloves! I wish i wore out the lefts but my rights always go out right away too! I have a mountain of left handers

Good Tuesday morning Chris,, thanks for sharing the type of gloves you use, it's definitely hard to keep glove around here in the wood yard..
Yes, they all wear out to fast!
I've got to hand it to you! You are thorough in this episode. Seeing you wear safety gear is outstanding 👍👍👍
Thanks!

Good morning! Nice!

Gloves are important😊
Thanks for watching Rick!
Hardy goat skin leather gloves with mesh back from harbor freight are my go to gloves. Low price but they are very durable without being too heavy.
Thanks for the tip!

I like leather gloves. When I end up with 2 left gloves I found I can turn one inside out for my right hand.
I have done that but it is not ideal.
For the light nirto dipped I love the maxi flex. They have lasted the longest from what I have found. Also love the kinko buffalo fencer glove
Thanks for the tips!
I had a nice pair of Stihl gloves, but I wore holes in them too, they all wear out so I get the cheapest I can to protect myself.
Yup, they all wear out eventually!

The Husqvarna gloves with the hand pads. They are anti vibe gloves. A ppe with Husqvarna when you field test saws. They work.
Yup, they are nice.
I use the thin leather gloves like you had on the left of the tilsatec. I turn them inside out, they last twice as long
Yup, I tried that too!

Yes I have, they work!
Hopefully Chris you’ve found the gloves 🧤 that hold up the longest 😮😊❤
I hope so too!
I just bought a pair of Wells Lamont cowhide hybrid gloves. So far I'm liking them. Just have to see how long they last.
Good luck!

I'll cast my vote for rhe Kinco mesh back pig skin for summer. I do try to go without and toughen up..but gloves are sure nice.
Thanks, I will check them out!

Wells Lamont -“White Mule” model
Wear longer and still very comfortable
I watch for sale and coupon for local Ace store
Yes, I have tried them they are good.
Btw I’m in Northern California with a 1/4 cord sells for $200 delivered mixed hardwood or $250 oak and almond from central CA
I have not paid for gloves in years. Between my mother-in-law and the wife, they load up and give them to me for Christmas.
I don't remember what they are, but i know they get them from Costco 😉👍
Nice, I wear them out as fast as I can buy them!
I just use the cheap ones like your gray and black ones. They don’t last long but they are cheap!👍👍
Yup, they all wear out!
Hardy's has a pigskin glove. Ive used them changing oil and stuuf, the oul seems to help them last a little longer! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks for the tip!
Uline Dyneema Diamond Flex Cut Resistant. Best I have ever used, they hold up for months!
Thanks for the tip!
My favorite glove is Kinnco buffalo skin, like you say nothing last forever
Yup!!!
my Dad lost his left arm in a combine accident back in 1991, he always had unused left gloves he took to his VA visits
Ouch...that will save on glove wear but not in a good way.
Good morning. Are those dobbers sticking off the left side of your handle for measuring? I’m new to your channel. Thanks for your videos. Really enjoyable to watch.
Those are cable/zip ties and yes it is for measuring the cut to 16" ....I have several videos showing how to do it on the channel...THANKS!!
Allo Jean ( Hi Chris yes hard to fine cloves with big hand we like made buy Grant those last long time but hard to fine ( Ty Ron
Thanks!
Great collection of gloves 👌I like Nitri-Dex light weight gloves made by Viking getem free from work!😅
Free is a good price!
I have a black fingernail right now😂 Kinco pigskin for me in winter and Kinco thin in the summer! 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
Yup, they work well!
Gloves, chaps, saws, trucks, chains etc. What kinda razor you use Professor?😊
None. Just an electric trimmer!
Buffalo hide seems to do a bit better than cow pig or deer hide. But anything cheap and flexible and comfortable does well.
I will try buffalo some time!
I've grown to dislike wearing gloves when running a chainsaw. I wear them doing different firewood work but rather have bare hands when using a chainsaw
I have tried with out gloves but much prefer with...but I do cut more in the winter so...
I'm a Hardy kind of guy.
Cheap, tough, did I mention cheap!
Yup, as long as they work!
Удачной работы

Hello Sir Stanley!
I just wrap the fingertips with duct tape to make them last longer. Until I get annoyed and buy another pair.
Yup, that helps!

Yup, lots of lefties out there!
Any left handed guys out there we got you covered lol!
Gloves ain't cheap...duct tape over finger holes will keep u loadin/stacking long time
Yup, it helps but longer lasting gloves would be nice!

Whatever is cheap or free. None of them last very long
