Beautiful ride! Makes me almost want to drop local and come back out OTR. As for the trailer gap, I always ran with the fifth wheel up so that the trailer nose right was right at the front tandem guard. Easier turn radius, and the ride isn't as bouncy as it is when it's all the way back. I never really had issues scaling loads, either.
Looks exactly like my 2018 579.
Check the lines for the bunkheater its facing toward fuel tank. Good luck on your journey.
Omg the cupholders next to the bed are god tier but the ones up front are subpar. In a freightliner you could store just about anything in those 3 big ass holders; headphones, wallet, phone, snacks, coins anything. These ones look like they would have stuff falling out
Yes 100%! The new body style addresses the front cup holders.
For a 2022 truck the switches and dials are still very old school.
thats a "peterbilt" thing they are trying to hang on to the old ways and still intergrade the new tech under it to try and appease the old dinosaurs that are still truckin'
Keeping the trailer tight to the tractor saves on fuel.
That "fan" is the condenser... doesn't blow air into the cab
Truckers with a fridge, I found an ice cube tray at WM that makes (8) 2" square cubes. Two work great in my Yeti, last all day.
Nice
Nice looking truck. Definitely agree it is a big improvement.
I think you will find that it rides a little better slid back
started out in a kw cabover no ac spring ride short wheel base no radio and just enough heater to keep you warm as long as it wasn't cold out
Trucks have come a long way
@@captain.john. yeah not all of it for the better same goes for the industry
congratulations on the new truck
Nice job on the tour….enjoy the new ride👍
Ordered mine, will pick it up next November. Funny my current purple freightliner is named calypso
That's awesome 😁
@@captain.john. quick question, is the mattress size still a twin xl?
@@nyflo718 yes if I remember correctly it is
The front guard is more than just for deer collisions. It is also designed for Brake-Checkers!!!!
I wish. Unfortunately I can see 3 seconds into the future so I never have that collision 💥
Nice rig!
Nice truck Trucker John
Thank you for the tour. I'm looking at a new company and they have a few different trucks to choose from. I've never driven modern peterbilts so it's nice to get a good look at the inside. I've mostly driven first gen Freightliner cascadias and the Kenworth T-680. I like both of them but the T-680 doesn't impress me with it's braking power or headlights. I would love to know what you think of the brakes and headlights now that you've driven it for a while.
So far it's great. It has disc breaks which is way better than drum. The headlights are not as bright as the freightliner.
@@captain.john. Thank you John. I had disc brakes on a couple of my Cascadias and they are impressive. I'm happy for you to have that upgrade. I always felt very safe with those brakes. I don't know if anybody has headlights as good as Freightliner's right off the production line. Thanks again for your response and be safe out there.
Sweet looking truck!!
Nice truck... drive safe 👍
Can you make a video on how to disable the "lane disparture" feature. I just bought a 2023 579 an I couldn't see the nob that shows for lane disparture
I'm not sure about the 2023, but the 2022 has a Bendex button to mute the function for about 10 minutes only.
@@captain.john. question does the 2022 have espar for heat an air conditioning? Or just heat? My husband an I bought a 2023 579 80in. It's been warm in Texas an we been trying to read an figure out how to keep cool since it has the idle shit down after idling so many minutes..appreciate your help..
I had a thermo king APU for when the truck was off. Not sure if you have one but that's how I used power with the truck off.
Maybe on the ladder you said it didn't go to the floor. Maybe on the left at the bottom that black foot peg might pull down to touch the floor. Maybe.
Doesn't look like it does. But it holds weight very well.
Beautiful truck
Nice truck. I'm interested in the idea of super singles on the drive axles. Don't see that much in New Zealand.
Hard to believe they still don’t offer a table setup and bigger fridge like the Volvo trucks. Nice truck though!
Agreed! Even the freightliner has better options.
Beautiful truck bro… 👍🏾
Thank you sir
No steering wheel button for phone answer or hangup? Seems like a safety issue if you have to goto the touchscreen for that.
Yes you can answer and hang up on the steering wheel but I never use it so can't remember which buttons.
Nice Truck !
Same as my 2018 Pete. Not impressed! They haven’t improved anything in 4 years? Lol… Peterbilt needs to improve storage and layout of convenience’s. As well as catch up with technology and comfort inside the cabs of their trucks.
Agreed. The new model 2022 has some improvements but not much.
Hi I have same truck how can adjust
Fahrenheit to Celsius
Sorry I don't remember
Why is your 2022 truck has the same looks just like the older ones, even the mirrors are still on the door and not on the door post?
They didn't start the new body style until July of 2022. I got mine in May.
@@captain.john. got you.
I’m not a new truck person with the urea on it and all that safety junk give me a 379 extended hood with 550 cat and 18 speed with 6 inch straight pipes with 250 wheel base
I was thinking about buying the Volvo Globetrotter.. This set up that you got kind of catch make me rethink. Do you mind giving a ballpark figure off the price
The Volvo is nice too. I like the table set up. I didn't see the figures for my truck but I'm guessing 170k.
Thanks

What motor ?
Nice…..at least it doesn’t have the Peterbilt “classic coffin” interior. The fake leather and button covers went out in the 70’s.
Peterbilt used to have a good looking truck and it was this, the current one is just a cheap Freightliner copy.
Did your 110v outlets not work when you got the truck? We just picked up a 2022 579 and none of the four 110 outlets work and cant seem to find a reason
Everything worked on my end. Check the fuses.
@@captain.john. worth a shot thanks anyways love the videos
@@teambeard8562 thank you so much
I have a question. My wife and I drive team in a freightliner. She hates that lane assist “feature”. In our truck if you push the off button for that system it turns itself back on in 15 minutes. Does the Peterbilt do the same?
Yes but it's more annoying in the peterbilt. The speaker for the system is right over your head and is way louder than the freightliner.
Hi John. How much does your truck cost to buy? Im think of becoming owner and operator something to add more to my nest egg and not have to draw funds from my nest egg for a few more years
I'm not sure because theo bought it
nice video
Thank you
Whats the price tag for one of this trucks ?
I didn't pay for it but I'm guessing 120k to start
What dash cam is that?
ua-cam.com/video/IeEDwf7ZPMs/v-deo.html
Since when do our truck tires “automatically inflate”?
Not sure since when. Maybe I meant the trailer tires?
Have you thought about starting your own outfit and running with Prime's advance fleet?
Never heard of their advance fleet. Theo and I are working to build a fleet.
Weren’t you with Pam about 3-4 years ago? If so, what happened?
No sorry that wasn't me. Prime Inc is my first truck company.
nice truck but those switches look a bit 1990s
😅
So all the new technology for the truck but the fifth wheel still hundred year old technology. I think engineers forgot to come up with new rear.
Way to much black for me (not a fan of it). All the woodgrain trim just showed up black in the video.
They have purple too
There are no such trucks in Europe or Turkey.
You got ripped off, 2022s come with digital dash and hid headlights. That’s not a 2022
Sorry to say but I can't take drivers seriously who claim to be truckers and drive automatic.
It's ok I understand
@@captain.john. it's a nice ride though. That noise cancelling effect is on point.
@@WEBBER_ yes!
More and more companies are going with automatic transmission trucks for fuel economy. I personally would prefer to still be driving an Eagle Pro with a 13 speed transmission but the company I drive for only has 1 standard transmission truck in its 30 truck company fleet and its been driven by the same driver for more years than I've been with the company. Now that being said the companies O/O fleet does have a number of standard transmission trucks, but I'm not an O/O and at this stage in my life I'm not looking to take on another $250,000 in debt.
Why auto not manual
Prime only provides automatic
Nice truck Trucker John
Interesting technology in the truck. It has come a long way. I was surprised to see a lever on the steering wheel column for drive and reverse. Reminds me of driving a forklift. I would have expected a regular shifter on the floor or dash but I understand the lever would save room to move around in the cab. Nice looking truck and seems very comfortable to drive.
Always keep your fingers and thumbs out of the spokes on a steering wheel.
The side doors in the sleeper are primarily for an emergency exit, just so happen that you can also get to your storage under the bunk from outside.
Eeesh. Drivers don't make any decisions.
Very good that’s my next truck
Dude. Beautiful truck.🤩 Super nice. Have fun with it. Be safe. 😎💯🤙🏽
Am looking for a Job, I have a CDL Class A, this is my first year. I want to build myself with a reputable truck company. I can relocate if possible, 😜am still single. Currently am in Albany NY. Any leads please?
Definitely check out prime inc if you're looking to stay in trucking. If you're thinking motorcoach I work out of California.
Thank You, Sir.
When your boy gets on the truck with you get him
Set up with a Prime “guest” ID... this way he he get himself in and out of the terminals on his own when you’re there.
I’ve heard of drivers having their kid’s allowance put on their ID cards
Who do I ask about it?
@@captain.john. should be able to get him through any of the years like SlC, SpringMo or Pittston. Let your FM know and they should get him set up with the card
@@americanfreedomlogistics9984 Thank you for the info. My twin brother is signed up is going to the Prime training program. I will have to ask him to get me a guest ID card. I will most likely go through the same program when the time comes.
Great video for a beautiful truck.
I wish the weather had been better as I would have liked to hear you start it up, and hear it outside and from inside.
I have to wonder how much Freightliner likes being compared to a Prius !
Too funny, but then I have a Navigator, myself.
Thanks
Nice. I watched you guys to gain knowledge when I start branding on UA-cam (for Real Estate). Plus I love trucks!! :). I like the side door for storage.
Awesome!
Wow calypso is a beauty John. I personally think they could made the fridge bigger. Also the editing on this video is legendary, some of your finest work John
Thank you! Yes I agree the fridge is a fail in my option.
its looks Good and u might want to Get a flat screen Tv in there for him u no kids likes to play Games unless he uses his phone if he got one yet or he will be bord with dad when its sleep time u no i no a lot if dold timers not a TV person u no iam i got one in my freight liner company Truck iam good with that and a wave in there to iam set for the night jack ha ha ha
Nice Video Trucker John keep safe and drive safe always
Just great 👍
Nice tour of a nice truck! Enjoy it👍
John
Good morning
Congratulations for that beuty truck
Lots of luck
Have a nice day

What is the storage between steps
Battery and air tanks
Love the new truck and tour of the truck.
Keep the gages on the dash. No cyber screen. Hello “Western Star”😁🤗🇺🇸
It’s cheaper to replace the deer guard than it is to replace the sensor for the collision mitigation system
Yes,that sensor is more important than a radiator.
be a big boy and get a truck without that radar junk
Can it be turned off?
@@majedalmawri the CMS? nope. you can temporarily turn off the lane departure warning system though
Looks great
How much is the engine power of 500 750 horsepower trucks in Turkey
Thanks for the great video John Nice to see your family involved as it will give you a chance to see your son and show him what you go through at work
Nice interior.
Very nice truck thanks for information god blessed
Nice rigg John!!! Does that have the 573 Cummins motor !!!??? I found with the navigation system screen display !!! If you leave it while driving!!! The actual NSP adjusts itself !!! Too the places you drive !!!! Like training a computer !!! All the best travel safe !!! Take care godbless you an your family!!!
Thanks Philip. It's the Paccar motor.
That’s not a 22… 22 come standard with a digital screen unless you got a late 21 model which is considered a 22…
Ventilated seats on a big rig is a must.
Yes!
👍👏✌😍
it should have a button for closing the door when you get in.
Can you share more about your dash cam? I tried googling the name you mentioned, and didn't find anything specific....
ua-cam.com/video/IeEDwf7ZPMs/v-deo.html here's a link to a review I did on it from my other channel.
Peterbilt and Kenworth are good looking trucks.
Great video, tons of information thank you!
Congratulations, you talked me out of buying one
Does this truck turn easily, i know the Cascadia has a shorter turn radius
💯👍👍👍 Excellent truck. So, what option are you able to add when you ordered it? Is it like buying a new car at a dealership or are you limited to a few options pre-determined by Prime Inc??
There's quite a few options but nothing crazy just basic stuff
so if you drive for theo"s trucking is Theo leased to Prime then you drive a theo truck ?
Yeah, he left hes own truck . Basically buying the truck for he's trainer.
I see people do that. To me its waste of money and time. You can run same load on your own. You both work for prime still.
Theo owns the truck and runs under prime authority.
@@captain.john. Success Leasing owns the truck until he's paid it off. After that, he owns the truck, but until that day he doesn't have the title and therefore doesn't own it, in fact he has zero equity in it and its a walk away lease where if he misses payments, or something unfortunate happens, he gets nothing to show for any payments already made. It's the same lease purchase as anyone else is getting at Prime.
A lot of people outside Prime say that PRIME stands for Pretending it's my equipment, just for the reasons you're unfortunately perpetuating here.
@@WillCarter1976 ok thanks for the information
I thougt the 2022's were the New Gen 579s. This one looks like the 20-21 Ultraloft. I drive one...Love it!!!!
The new generation came out in July 2022. I got mine in April. Missed it by a few months 😪
How the heck do you intsall the bunk harness for the bottom bunk!!!! I'm completely confused!
I've never tried doing it
So cool you have your channel on the side of your truck.
I bet that's a smooth ride.
Great video thank you!! Thorough tour very helpful! I'm trying to choose between the 22 KW and 22 Pete .
Thank you! This is the older body style, maybe you'll like the new style? Either way they're both great trucks and it will be a tough decision.
@@captain.john. yes its tough...researching alot to help me make best decision .
Nice video
I really like your watch
Liking the Mercedes s-class style shifter
Curious what engine engine the truck came with and mpg your getting with the 579. Best of luck its a beautiful truck.
It's a paccar engine and right now I'm averaging 8mpg
@@captain.john. that’s awesome. I really am impressed with what they have done with the 579.
@@captain.john. Is it speed governed?
If yes,at what speed?
@@pep5772 yes at 65mph
We have one with the new digital dash in it. We got as a test truck. I sent pictures to your Facebook page
