I met Randy Travis in 2002 at a small venue of 250 people @viejas casino in San Diego. I was only 28 years old at the time and he was one of my idols. I shook his hand and spoke with him briefly, he's a genuine kind soul. I am honored to have had that opportunity. God bless you

Everyone makes mistakes in life and I really wish all those negative videos of Randy were removed from the internet. I admire his life and all he accomplished. Thank you so much Randy for giving us your awesome voice and acting. I remember throwing in many Randy Travis cassettes cruising around in the 80’s-90’s. His music will live on forever!!!! Thank you for a look into his life.

I'm 51 years old and I remember clearly the first time I heard Randy Travis on the radio. The song was On The Other Hand, and I stopped what I was doing to listen to this incredible voice.
Here I am 39 years later saying, "I love you Randy, and I hope you're doing well."

One lesson all of us must learn is we are not doing right when we are doing wrong. When we do right we please God. When we do wrong we please the devil. We must be strong. Life is not about fame and money. Love for God, faith, wisdom, and hope are very important.

My Dad first introduced me to Randy Travis. I've listened to him since his first release in 1985. My mom and he had a tumultuous relationship from the time they met, when my mom was just 15. There were 22 years between them in age, and her parents forbid they marry. Through many ups and downs, failed relationships and marriages for both of them (and the birth of a few children including myself - sadly none together 😓), they finally stopped listening to others and married in 1988, 22 years after they first met. Because of their past experiences, they were emotionally connected to so many of Randy's songs. They would dance in our living room, holding each other tightly and singing his songs to each other with tears streaming down their faces, sorrowful for all their missed opportunities for happiness with each other.
My dad used to sing in a men's a capella group and [I believe] in the church choir when he was young. One Christmas we bought him a karaoke machine. He would spend his days singing and recording himself singing all the various harmonies of Randy's songs and layering them together, and I would sit and listen to him. They were gloriously happy for 22 years, until he passed suddenly in his sleep. We played his recordings of Randy Travis at his Celebration of Life.
Randy was like a dear friend in our home and away.. while driving back and forth to Sick Kids hospital in Toronto, our son would cry, "Digga Bone, Digga Bone!" if we turned on the music and it wasn't Randy Travis. The day my mom passed a few years ago, I played that same compilation of music from my dad's service. She was in a medically induced coma (for pain control - she could hear, but couldn't talk or move), but I saw her brow go up and she squeezed my hand ever so slightly.. and took her last breath not long afterwards.
The memories of a beautiful love and life come flooding in whenever I hear his music. He has touched my life in so many ways, so many times in the past 40 years, I will be forever grateful for what he has done for his country music fans.
I was lucky to see him once in concert at Rama Casino, Ontario, Canada. He told some amazing stories of his life and of course, his beautiful smile, baritone voice and heartfelt songs had me singing, dancing and crying. I sooo wished my dad could have been there with me. I shared the experience with my best friend, and we rushed the stage afterwards for autographs. She got her ticket signed, sadly I didn't.. but knowing what a HUGE fan I am, she gave me her ticket to keep, Forever and Ever, Amen. Thank you, Randy Travis. ❤️

I am from Marshville, NC and we have a festival every September. It used to be the Boll Weevil Festival but has been the Randy Travis Music Festival for a while now. He comes out and takes pictures with fans every year. His health is really poor due to strokes and he has been confined to a wheelchair for a while. A person’s achievements should be what they are remembered for, not their mistakes. A man ain’t made of stone.
FYI though, there is no such place as Monroe County. Marshville, NC is located in Union County. Monroe is a town located in Union County.

I started liking Country music around the time of Randy Travis and others popular in the late '70s and early '80s. "Hard Rock Bottom Of My Heart", "Better Class Of Losers", "He Walked On Water" - some of my most favorites. And "3 Wooden Crosses" later. Then I married a guy who somewhat resembled Randy Travis - and this is the most common observation of others who see him or his picture. My husband would have that deep singing voice, too, and could imitate Randy, but he was shy about singing for anyone and didn't seek an audience. Interestingly more so, my husband had a massive stroke, as well, in 2019, suffering such similar afflictions as Randy Travis - the aphasia/appraxia, loss of the use of his right arm/hand, and need of his wife as a caregiver. I am fascinated with the videos of Randy and his wife as they tell their story, praying for them as they mirror our own path.

George Jones, Randy Travis, Ralph Stanley, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, just to name a few off the top, (God knows there are so many more) all tasked with the painful, holy burden of carrying all of our human souls, our pain and love, our prayers and regrets, all in the very sound of their transcendent voices, all to be our true mirrors. That’s what i think about whenever i hear about or learn about any breakdowns, any suffering, I think how most of us would crumble under that kind of weight. I don’t know who I’d be without any of them to guide me through, from my speakers. I thank Randy Travis from the bottom of my heart.

This man’s beautiful voice is the first voice I can recall being able to easily recognize without being told as a child and only bc everytime I’d go to sleepover at my grandmas and make cookies & big batches of puppy chow or just to help her vacuum or run a garage sale- no matter what we were doing she would have a cassette tape playing and it’d always be a Randy Travis tape (she had them all)! When I’d get in the car to return home with my mom if she wasn’t already jamming out to her new cassette tape by Janet Jackson - which I never minded either bc I’m a fan of all good music by all talented musicians- I’d get permission to turn the radio on and would turn it to a country station anf altho I could sing the majority of the right lyrics to most of the songs played even tho I couldn’t tell you who was singing them but the moment that any of Randy’s songs would play- I’d get excited and look at momma and tell her ohhh this is a good one- that’s Randy Travis!! ❤ When I turned double digits and got my very own first boombox From my parents so i can still remember the excitement and the emotion that ran thru me when I opened up the gift my Grandma- an old shoe box that was full of all of her Randy Travis cassettes that the two of us always enjoyed singing and listening to together. 30 years later I wish I could admit that I know where all of those cassettes were today- I can’t actually say- but one thing I can say is that the love and emotion that I feel listening to Randy’s music has never changed! I still love to hear his music just as much as I did as a young child if not more actually. Randy’s coming to indiana to perform here in a couple of months- if I am not able to get tickets to go and enjoy hearing him and his music live & be able to show all of the love and support i have for him and his strength while also celebrating his determination and willpower to overcome his heath scare and challenge- I swear I’ll be so upset! Besides my daddy- Randy is the first man I actually would say I loved as a child 😊 today I love him still and would love for him to know that in every up or down of my life that his music was there for me and helped me get thru the worst times. Of my life but also was a reminder to me of how blessed and loved I am during both those hard and good times too!! He’s my all time favorite artist forever and ever, amen!! ❤❤❤

@ashley1994 really? Allan Jackson I’ve always liked. He’s country. I’ve liked Garth Brooks, George Strait was ok, but Luke Combs andJason Aldean are not country. These newer so called artists starting around the late 80’s early 90’s are absolutely garbage! If you’ve been paying attention lately, Alan Jackson has been speaking out about how country music has gone down the sewer 😝😝😝

I commend Randy for his determination and strength to get through such hard times through his life. God does not promise a life with no suffering, in fact he clearly says there will be suffering in our life on earth. what God does promise is if you believe and accept Jesus as your savior and believe the God sent him to die on the cross to save us from our sins and you do you best to keep his commandments, he will be with you through all your hard times and suffering and you will be with him in heaven when he calls you home. I commend Randy and Randy for their deep faith and trust in God. I am so thankful to God they have made it through this tragic eventing their lives and are thriving now, despite Randy's ability to talk they are still thriving and trusting God to continue to show them the way and his plan for their lives. I love you Randy and Mary and I will continue to pray for more healing and hope for your very own voice to come back. Just keep loving and trusting God and Mary and everything with be wonderful. Never give up Hope, God and Jesus work miracles multiple times a day and every single day.

Two songs Keith Whitley recorded that was remade, On The Other Hand, which Randy released, and No Body In His Right Mind which George Strait released, all because Keith did not release them as a single, otherwise Keith would have topped the charts with them both imo. Randy and George cashed in on them and released them as a single. Imo, Keith did them both better even though I did like Randy's version of On The Other Hand.

There, but for the grace of God, go any of us.
With a full grasp of Travis' step-by-step descent, it's reasonable to assume that dementia was at the center -- and the alcohol excess didn't help a bit.
This is one of the saddest cases of the mighty falling to rock bottom I've ever seen -- just glad he was able to keep breathing.
