Funny thing is when speakerbox/ the love below came out I remember a lot of people including myself didn't like it because he only had 1 or 2 real rap song on it & folks wanted more rap. But over time people understood it better, this is the same thing, folks just don't know what to do with it yet because it ain't what you wanted
I don't know where y'all from, but The Love Below was an instant classic. We expected it to sound like 'Hey Ya' but were pleasantly surprised at how soulful it was. Speakerbox was disappointing though.
Engaging with Andre 3000's flute album is quite delightful. Taking the time to revisit Big Boi's albums and then immersing myself in Andre 3000's work offers a richer understanding of their collective creativity. The intricate artistic elements found in OutKast's albums resonate with me. Personally, I appreciate the depth that unfolds when I analyze each person's contributions to the album of the past.
Ignorant criticism, they critiquing it from a rap perspective. That’s the problem with hip hop culture it’s always about competition. 3 stacks just felt like making a flute album he’s not trying to be the best flute musician of all time.
@@AD-wg8ikno they are critiquing from a MUSIC perspective, the guy clearly said that he enjoys several different types of music, but the shit was trash.. that’s his opinion and I share the same opinion.. the melody had no direction whatsoever on any track, I could record my 7 year old nephew and get him to play random notes and make something similar, shit was wack as fuck, and I love 3 Stacks but keep it real man..
@@FoolisH409 Wicked named a few _mainstream_ artists in _mainstream_ genres. Then he explained all the things Dre "should've" done to make it sound appealing… to the mainstream. That's not what this is. Yeah, calling an obscure amateur jam session "André 3000 on Epic Records" is somewhat false advertising. So those expectations are valid. If you know the composers he named in that GQ interview, the sound may be less confusing. People comparing it to Kenny G aren't even on the same page (and that's okay). I would like the names Brian Eno and Aphex Twin to mean _something_ to folks if they're gonna tell me what this music is failing at.
@@rollerboychrischristopherj134 imo It's still way better than some other mythically hyped albums that tried to be different like "To Pimp A Butterfly" , that was a real creative dud for me with almost no redeeming good songs , but I like multiple songs In New Blue Sun , almost every song has a portion or passage that I get creatively Immersed In and vibe with. I already liked ambient and trancelike electronica to begin with In addition to Hip Hop and many other genres , so this sound was easy for me to click with. I'm not saying this still can't suck to some people but In general think alot of peoples musical tastes lack diversity and they're not as open as previous generations were to anything outside mainstream trends/sounds.
I love the flute album, it’s called high frequency music, I listen and meditate on this type music all the time, he gone blow up even bigger especially in places like India where they love this music.
You don’t have to like the album, but realize that 3K is an ARTIST. True artists aren’t confined to one medium of expression. I’m glad he was able to express his art the way he saw fit

It's completely amazing to watch people not understand that he's just doing his own thing and finding what works for him. As if artists owe their audience something.
Artist usually do owe their audience something. It's understood by most artist who become famous and rich.. they usually feel indebted to their fans because without them they wouldn't be rich.
@@renderserHe was famous and rich because people liked and payed for what he was doing. That doesn't mean he has to keep doing it when doesn't want to or when he wants to do something else. Album is dope! Dude had said Dre isn’t know for playing the flute, he’s known for playing multiple instruments. Once in a lifetime talent, man can do it all musically!
As much as I don't care to give the project a listen it's sad how badly people coming at 3k for his newfound love for something other than rap. I don't think he's pushed it out to be critiqued next to some good flute players, he's just passionate about what he's created and done it for himself and his creativity.
These same types of people have come at Dre across his career trajectory, for repeatedly stepping outside of their limited expectations. Aside from his anxiety situation, I'd like to think he's prepared himself to not give af that it's happening again. Or at least focus on the people who have legitimately found healing in this work.
For all of his genius he has displayed for 30 years this is not what we needed from a man who is probably the definition of quality over quantity. This is not what was needed
@adamrushd8096 as a "first album" I think he will, although...as something he'll compare to later work, probably not. Artist tend to always cherish their first work. That's why he labeled that last track "....dungeon." Because he never forgets where it all started.
Y'all still don't know Dre? Or, y'all forgot about the wrong Dre? Andre 3k is 100 years ahead of your understanding. Thankfully he's out of this world.😊
Please...PLEASE EXPLAIN how this makes him 100 years ahead. Tell me ONE track that proves that and I promise you I can point to another jazz song better then every track on his album
Dre has been LIVING and that’s what a lot of people don’t do. He’s been experiencing life and vibrating high. His art is just an expression of where he is in life.
I respect everyone opinions but i get the impression that he wants to take his music in a different direction. I can see him bringing out a kinda of hip-hop indie album in the future but as for now he's thinking outside the box working on something that is personal to him.
This podcast episode totally describes the problem with music fans especially black fans and our community in general. They are so upset with Andre because he did exactly what he wanted to do. Isn't that how he's always lived his life and conducted himself as an artist? Why is this such a surprise? He did what he wanted to do on the love below, basically a singing album from a rapper way before Kanye. An artist has to expand to remain a true artist. He doesn't owe anyone anything but his artistic integrity.
Smh, People be letting their biases influence their opinions. If Kanye released this flute album they would say it’s trash and that he’s lost his mind. But Andre releases it and it’s “great art” Why? Because Kanye is an asshole, and Andre is a likable dude
Everyone talking bout it being this huge accomplishment comparing his sales to other artists. Let me ask you guys something? Do you really think some random artist with no fan base could pull that off. NO it’s only popular because it’s Andre 3000. If any small or upcoming artists tried that it would be a totally different situation, it would flop hard in comparison. This just proves that social proof is everything. Not hating either. Just an observation.
I believe the album is an experimental experience and isn’t a typical album that one would be “jammin” in their ride. This is background relaxation music. I think the man is 48 years old and doesn’t wanna be famous. He just wants to enjoy life outside of the rap world. He doesn’t owe anyone anything!
The funny thing is 99.9% of everyone saying they like the album is that they don’t got no instrumental music at all on their phones before that. Let’s be real none of us have gotten in a car or went to a house this was playing at. I respect it though. I can smoke a joint and be creative to it.
“They would have told us to go to hell, and stay there” “MJ playing baseball”. Never heard B-High speak this way of 3 Stacks before lol. Damn man. I support 3K. He already did the job. He don’t have to do another rap album.
You two should get a band director on the show to talk band culture, the flute and this album. Get an old school director like a retired director from FAMU or Jackson State. I listened to one song, and as a former band student, it wasn't as bad as you make it seem. P.S. Andre out here looking like a WuTang Kung Fu Master with a giant bamboo flute. 😁
Band students and real musical instrumentalists will understand and appreciate it. I wish black people would respect and appreciate other musical genres, such as Classical. A lot of black composers from the past have been given their respect.
I really wish it did. Roy has classic melodies and rhythms. He even sprinkles in some Vocals - "Everybody Loves The Sunnnnnshinne!" I do give credit that the "Frequencies" are soothing and the Vibration seems to activate the Chakras, but "Rhythmically" not on the scale of the great Roy Ayers.
@TheJblack89 Gotcha! I just wish he added a little bit more "Vibe" like Roy. Give me a lil something to tap and nod my head to. Sounds like a smorgasbord of random sounds in an empty space. I love Andre, Big Boi and OutKast. Huge Fan! I actually met them in Atlanta at Freak-Nic in 1994. Andre handed us their Cassette Tape Southernplayalistic. He actually put the tape in my hand directly. We had no idea who or what it was. It wasn't out. After about a hour of riding around Atlanta we "popped" it in and were like Holy Shit!! We assumed it was just some locals handing out Cassettes. It was the entire Dungeon Family. I looked at the back and saw LaFace and we were like damn, this is Historical and getting the cassette from them directly was even more consequential being it was before they were known!! I'm with Wicked - it could have been a dope Instrumental Album just like back in the 70's but EWF, Parliament with their many instruments they brought "Funk" and "Rhythm". I'm such a huge damn fan though I'm going to play this damn New Blue Sun until I know every Flute Chord by memory 🪈 🤣🤣🤣🤣. After 1,000 more Listens I'll come back and change my opinion if needed 😊. It's definitely much needed!! M.C.'s aren't saying "much of Anything" these day's so I think they all could be QUIET for a while and just let the music play. - Respect 👑

Speaker Box carried the joint album
@@OzonebxGaming negative, speakerbox sucked actually to me
the love below is a dope album. lots of good tracks on that and its only gotten better over time.
I don't know where y'all from, but The Love Below was an instant classic. We expected it to sound like 'Hey Ya' but were pleasantly surprised at how soulful it was. Speakerbox was disappointing though.
That was hot garbage and quite fruity
Didn’t he say in his interviews that he wasn’t rapping on the album but y’all are upset about it?😂😂
Engaging with Andre 3000's flute album is quite delightful.

It’s coming but not when we want it
I doubt it
Man I love b-high. U kno how u can jus tell when someone is honest authentic and just an all around good person? *THAT'S B HIGH!* ❤
What!? Dre did grow. Y’all saying this man shouldn’t be himself?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 .... I DON'T TAP DANCE FOR NO DAMN BODY!!!
I laugh everytime he say that lol
People wanted this album the same way they wanted Tyrese’s rap album.
Ninja always brings down another black man. This is very sad
This ain’t hate, it’s hardcore fan criticism. #Salute
Exactly and all these people saying it's dope if full of shit I love dre but this ain't it
Ignorant criticism, they critiquing it from a rap perspective.
I said the same thing. I didn't hear any technique in Dre's flute.
This album will be the spark that lights the flame.

High Frequency on lo-fi music? That's an oxymoron
Clearly y’all don’t know what high frequency means y’all just throwing the words around

Big Boi & Z-Ro should do an album together. A Big Boi & Z-Ro collaboration or even a Big Boi & DJ Quik collaboration would be 🔥!!!
There's no way to compete when you're your only competition!!!
Thanks for keeping it real and speaking up
You don’t have to like the album, but realize that 3K is an ARTIST. True artists aren’t confined to one medium of expression. I’m glad he was able to express his art the way he saw fit
I listen to music as a whole, but here we are talking about a Rap icon. A poet.
Andre never fit the mold of a typical artist. He was always different. F**k what the critics say. An artist is an artist. A rapper is just a rapper.
Y’all fanboys are hilarious… he could have released an album that had no vocals or instrumentals and yall would hype it up.. pathetic

Garbage as a 80s baby I'm so disappointed cuz now my kids looking at me now saying "this the guy u said was better than drake" "this the guy yall say is in the top 10 or 5" SMH I'm lost of words and it's disrespectful to put Kenny G and this album in the same sentence
I ain't mad at 3 stacks at all. I respect his musical and spiritual explorations. I ain't really mad at the album either. There's just a time and place for it. Maybe you could play it while relaxing or sum. But we really wanna hear you spit again, 3000. ✌🏾
It's completely amazing to watch people not understand that he's just doing his own thing and finding what works for him. As if artists owe their audience something.
Artist usually do owe their audience something. It's understood by most artist who become famous and rich.. they usually feel indebted to their fans because without them they wouldn't be rich.
EXACTLY!!!...
@@renderserHe was famous and rich because people liked and payed for what he was doing. That doesn't mean he has to keep doing it when doesn't want to or when he wants to do something else. An artist is not a slave of his fans expectations. I'm glad he doesn't treat his fans like babies by feeding them the content that they want so they don't cry about it
So he only good for rap??? Wick wouldn’t understand because he’s not a real musician
😂😂 please
Thats not what he was sayin, he sayin hw tf could we really kno if its trash or not lmao we not well versed in the genre to even digest it critically. Now hw it makes u feel or if u like it is personal but to actually analyze it would b difficult for hip hop fans jus bein real.
How you gon say "I'M NOT HATING" and then proceed to HATE? okay.. IT'S NOT HIPHOP! but that's the most hip-hop shit you can do!! its called "DOING WTF YOU WANNA DO!" & that's HIP-HOP!

How yall acting like THE LOVE BELOW wasn't a solo album? He produced it, played instruments, rapped & sang, and did what he did.
The album is perfect to ride around to also It's perfect to meditate to.

I can dig it...
Listen to a few songs last night, Help me relax, and got great sleep. Salute 3 stacks.💯
Album is dope! Dude had said Dre isn’t know for playing the flute, he’s known for playing multiple instruments. Once in a lifetime talent, man can do it all musically!
So 3000 is Prince now ??? 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 yea.....ok
As much as I don't care to give the project a listen it's sad how badly people coming at 3k for his newfound love for something other than rap. I don't think he's pushed it out to be critiqued next to some good flute players, he's just passionate about what he's created and done it for himself and his creativity.
These same types of people have come at Dre across his career trajectory, for repeatedly stepping outside of their limited expectations.
Aside from his anxiety situation, I'd like to think he's prepared himself to not give af that it's happening again. Or at least focus on the people who have legitimately found healing in this work.
I love the love for 3000! He was gracious enough to give us what we needed and when we needed it to make of it what we choose.
For all of his genius he has displayed for 30 years this is not what we needed from a man who is probably the definition of quality over quantity. This is not what was needed
Mr. Harris ain't funny
@adamrushd8096 no, its not what you WANTED. Know the difference
@@zod4365 I don’t think in a few years Andre 3000 gonna want to claim that album again just my opinion

FYI Flute music doesn't suck, it blows!!! 7:36
I respect everyone opinions but i get the impression that he wants to take his music in a different direction. I can see him bringing out a kinda of hip-hop indie album in the future but as for now he's thinking outside the box working on something that is personal to him.

Life is a journey, there is no stasis if you're not moving forward you're moving backwards. Some people develop While others evolve.
You are right. Andre is right. This podcast is also right. Just as he has the freedom to do what he wants. They have the freedom to criticize it

Because Kanye is an asshole, and Andre is a likable dude

First Kanye,. now Andre, when rappers start thinking or being "Free" it gets fucked 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Big Galaxy you tweakin OG!! Yeah the album ain’t “hiphop” but in #Andre3000 WE TRUST!!!
B High such a huge andree 3000 fan I can’t even be mad at him lmao
I believe the album is an experimental experience and isn’t a typical album that one would be “jammin” in their ride. This is background relaxation music. I think the man is 48 years old and doesn’t wanna be famous. He just wants to enjoy life outside of the rap world. He doesn’t owe anyone anything!
Freestyling the flute.. im straight 😂😂
The funny thing is 99.9% of everyone saying they like the album is that they don’t got no instrumental music at all on their phones before that. Let’s be real none of us have gotten in a car or went to a house this was playing at.
I respect it though. I can smoke a joint and be creative to it.
I knew 3000 was gonna turn his fans off…… 😢
“They would have told us to go to hell, and stay there” “MJ playing baseball”. Never heard B-High speak this way of 3 Stacks before lol. Damn man. I support 3K. He already did the job. He don’t have to do another rap album.
I don’t even know how to judge flute music
3K finally gave us some music you can recognize when you go to a spa and get a massage.
Wth, bruhhh😂😂😂😂😂💀
Exactly!!
This is why 3000 isn't really active anymore. I'm hurt he would be the one doing this.
How can people say this album is dope
Just being fanboya. I'm into a lot of instrumental music. This album is chaotic. He's no Miles Davis
Just because you don’t see somebody doing something doesn’t mean they’re not active.. wicked sounds stupid atp
Shout out to the Sonic Boom! Agreed though, someone with an ear for music can really appreciate it.
Some of use rap heads grew up. Too many in our community don’t. I love the new album.
So if I say it's just an average at best jazz album does that mean I haven't grown up?
I enjoyed it,very relaxing and calming
I guarantee if you put that flute on beats, it would sound nice
Actually his new album sounds like Roy Ayers type music
I really wish it did. Roy has classic melodies and rhythms. He even sprinkles in some Vocals - "Everybody Loves The Sunnnnnshinne!"
I do give credit that the "Frequencies" are soothing and the Vibration seems to activate the Chakras, but "Rhythmically" not on the scale of the great Roy Ayers.
@@Unplugged7007 I understand what you're saying but I listen to a lot instruments from him and just alil similar instruments sound wise
