The guy was not okay in his head. While all the his trauma explains his behaviour but doesn't excuse it. He was full of shit. I can't believe the FL would pursue him. Also, I feel he didn't love her as much as she loved him. Because she seems to grow soft towards him and be jealous of the other women even when she was under the impression that he cheated on her. He asked his friend (client) for help because he wanted to divorce his wife (the woman in black with the shocked expression).
If I remember right the two lawyers were married and he divorced her saying he had an affair with the woman he's working this divorce case for, his long time friend. The lawyer ex-wife is acting for the "affair partners" husband as they are divorcing and arguing custody. Ex-wife lawyer was like "give my client custody because that woman had an affair with her lawyer", and the ex-husband lawyer had to admit his affair was a lie just to secure a divorce. She had a lot of resentment for her cheating ex and now she knows he never cheated, he just wanted to divorce so badly. They're both pretty awful together and he had a lot of childhood trauma and it's a whole mess.

But to my surprise the series ends as it is started with both of them going their separate ways what a waste of time
