One of my ‘satin’ finish necked guitars had a little bit of ‘lumpiness’. Not horribly disfigured but just noticeable enough to be distracting. I took a bit of 2000 grit wet’n’dry to the rough patch and that went. BUT I also gave a gentle smoothing to the rest of the neck and now it feels Luxuriously better all over.
John is a pro. The only consequence of "a lot of beers" from the previous night's pub crawl on the following day's 'Artist' first look was "unstable tuning".
I'm like you John, I think the Artist TC59 is great...besides the muddy Bull Bucker pickups! I spent a bit of money on Custom Hand Wound pickups (a lot of money for a cheap guitar, but it looks great and feels great!!), but it was worth it! I have 3 Tele's and now...maybe it's my favourite?!
Left the video playing while I went to make some tea... thought you were reviewing some high end guitar! Sounds incredible! Goes to show much of the time we listen with our eyes... Tom Murphy was going on, in that Andertons vid, about how poly finishes choke the sound out of a guitar, but any one of his guitars would choke the life out of me bank account 🙄
Wow! A lot to unpack here... Did I hear you correctly? You filmed this the day after RedcArmageddon?!?! 🤯 #RESPECT! 👊 Also... That neck humbucker sounds... VERY good. Not something I say often. Thought the split sounds could be a convincing Tele on both pickups. Looking forward to the full review to see the neck carve 😁👍
If you're going to get the 335 style one, I suggest that you get the one with the locking tuners (that also has the split-coil function). I got the cheaper one and it kept going out of tune. I ended up buying both and strung the cheaper one to Nashville tuning. Now I've got the equivalent of an electric 12-string for recording. Absolutely lovely!
Hello, everyone... Salutations, John... I just want to add to John's comments by saying that you can buy the guitar without the case for around £250... 'Artist' are an Australian firm, and like a lot of firms they design the guitars but have them made abroad (far east, obviously, various factories in various countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia I believe) but, although they are an Australian firm, they do have an outlet (a warehouse or whatever) in the UK, so you are not waiting for a shipment from down under. As I recall it turned up by courier in a couple of days. If you go for the guitar priced to include the case you are getting the case £10 cheaper. And no, no one is paying me to promote them. Thanks, John... Cracking video...!!!
Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome Guitar, I have one and find it amazing. A true Joy to play, stays in tune well. I find this guitar 'inspires' me to play at my best ever (Not sure if that can be possible but this Guitar is SO Special, I am convinced it does). Look forward to the Full Review/Demo video. All The Best. Cheers
That's great for the money, haven't heard of these guys before. As you say, out of stock at the mo, as well as a lot of other models. That case seems OK. I's no Hiscox or Carlton but it will keep it safe within reason I'm sure. I like the single coil sounds, they were lovely.
Great show Big Fella, very nice guitar sounds fine & exceptional value for money and a nice hard case too, can't go wrong. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
T op Tip :Remember to cover your pick-ups with tape if using wire wool on your guitar.

You need a new camera too ;-)
Love your work mate!
I quite like the sound of those pups, not bad for the price.

In single coil mode it sounds more stratty than most LP style guitars. More Tele on the neck than bridge? In a mix it would be useful.
Agreed. Can definitely hear the Tele tones in the neck split 👌

Really rather good, unbeatable at that price. Plenty of choices on the website. I'm tempted by one of their 335 styles.

@@NewFalconerRecords thanks, man. That’s really helpful.
I thought these were mainly available in SE-Asia and Australia.
The Artist formerly known as Les?

7:39 Some of us need words on our poker chip, John! 😉

Sounds like a LP copy. Switch is microphonic?
Really nice guitar, good price too 👍

I love LP styles without the pickguards. They make the guitar look cheap and plastic.
Would you say that if it were a Gibbo Cal B? 😉 See you tomorrow bud.
