No doubt its easier and high quality but in PC I also struggled with the same issue like you, then I took mentos 😂and I looked at my video recording resolution, it was 1920 x 1080 and my video timeline was also 1920 x 1080. So when the timeline resolution and recording resolution is same and when you zoom, it starts to pixalate. So the short answer to fix this, is to record at higher resolution and the thumb rule is to record at double the resolution of your timeline resolution. There are two ways you can do this. First, If you have a higher resolution monitor its easy and Secondly, in OBS Studio, Settings > Video, set 'Base (Canvas) Resolution' and 'Output (Scaled) Resolution' manually, double the resolution of your timeline in this case 3840x2160. Thats one solution. The other way is to change the recording bitrate which will help the most regardless of resolution whihc is under 'Output' > 'Output mode' to 'Advanced' > 'Recording' . Generally mac uses dynamic bit rate for recording, rate changes depend upon which application you use I guess! So the best bitrate settings should be between 6000-10000 Kbps. Remember, bitrate is proportional to filesize, you can try which settings are best suits to you.
