The game is set in an alternate reality of the series. The game's story takes place in Limbo City, a modern-day city secretly controlled by all-powerful demons, manipulating humanity through the comforts of life, with the demons themselves residing in a parallel plane called 'Limbo'. Living on the fringes of the brainwashed society is Dante, a young man at odds with the demons who constantly hunt him, and the civilian authorities they control. Dante is warned by a young woman named Kat that he is in danger just as a Hunter demon drags him into Limbo. Dante navigates the Bellevue Pier's carnival and kills the demon with Kat's aid, who can see into Limbo with her psychic powers. Dante returns to the human world and accepts Kat's offer to meet with her boss, Vergil.
The definitive edition is like a light remaster. Definitely looks better but it is only one generation removed. As always we used important gameplay, relevant dialogue and all cutscenes to create a fluid cinematic experience. We hope you enjoy!

Honestly despite the flack it gets I think the gameplay is awesome and some of the scenes are pretty hilarious
I like succubus scene despite all the flak it got. It's simple, Dante having a bit of fun at her expence but not taking her seriously enough to say something other than quips and "Fuck you". Gotta sting if you're hundred thousand old demon.

It was a potentially fun game with a vein of obnoxious cunty fun blockers ruining it every chance it got. Every time you encountered something and was like "hey these are pretty fun to fight" it was almost ALWAYS accompanied by something that is a fucking insufferable pain that made the whole thing an infuriating chore. The enemy designers had absolutely no idea what they were doing and likely weren't invested enough to care.
Let’s face it; DmC put the franchise back on the map. There wouldn’t have been DMC 5 without DmC
@@theignaciortega The only people who thought the series was "dead" were capcom. Not because it wasn't selling well but because it wasn't selling well enough. DmC was a gamble to try and make DMC more successful than it already was.
The levels in this game were so well made. I wish there was more games with this kind of rapid changing world that seems "alive "

I am a hardcore fan of the OG DMC series and I absolutely LOVED the reboot.
I still don't understand why this game still gets so much hate.
It's an alternative universe and a really unique addition to the series.

Now that DMC 5 exists I wouldn't mind having an alternate universe. Ninja Theory did a good job mixing lore from the OG. Plus you could potentially fight angels. I still want a Dante Nephilim Transformation. Even Ebony and Ivory could channel angel and demon bullets.
I cant believe this game was 9 years old now. Still holds up till today for a PS3 game. While the direction wasnt for everyone. I have to admit the combat felt smooth and creative.

I think this game is pretty good actually. Considering this is my first full play through with a Devil May Cry game. And also, the gameplay for this is so good. The combos are pretty straightforward. And also, this look of Dante is awesome. Modern day haircut, I should say. I'm glad that Capcom continued with the original series. But this one needs a sequel.

I fückîng loveeeeeeeeę thïs gāme, i løve the fact that they took the DMC universe intø å more “current” space in real time rather than it being more hell/realm dominant theme. The storÿline is so good too wîth it being based in ân “awakening” which i feêl went over a lot of pęopłê’s heads, thė gameplay is THE smoothest out of all DMC games and the replay value îs insane, the designs, the SOUND DESIGN, thė soundtrack and it being current to that year [2013 dubstep], the sheer fluidity of the fighting, the sïck boss fights ând weapons, EVERYTHING. Håd so many really fun run thröughs on thïs and it never fāiled to deliver 😌✨

It’s a beautiful game honestly. Ironically, this was my first Devil May Cry game that introduced me to the series lol I still want to see where this version of the story would’ve went should it ever be brought back someday. I actually prefer these characters over DMC 5 (except Nero and V who would’ve fit oddly well with this crew).
I'm still waiting for the possibility of a sequel. I really love this game.

I think most of the hate came from the fact that until DMC 5. Most people worried we wouldn't get a main sequel and instead end up stuck with this Dante and the rebooted series.

They didnt disrespect anyone. Yes, Ninja theory might have ansered quite rudely, but giving they were recieving a lot of hate and death threats, it had (for me) a pass. Actually Capcom was the one pulling the shots and controlling what Ninja Theory made, NT actually wanted to make the game more like the original, you can see that in the early concept arts. This game was an experiment for Capcom without having to get their hands dirty, because they didnt recieved the hate, NT did, and it almost ruined the company... It's kinda sad actually.

I like both concepts, both are good and I wish more people were capable of separating the art from the artist. It saddens me that this version will never get a sequel, especially considering I found the game play of ninja theory's game far more fun than I am finding DMC5 game play right now. As someone who never played the original games I had no issues with this game at all. I understand that some diehard fans hate this game. But I love it.
My only complaint was the very end of the game just felt so Rushed out of nowhere there was barely any conflict between them the whole game and then he just sorta decides "oh yeah I'm your enemy now."

The first time i played this was 2/3 years ago. I played dmc 3 too and that game is still one of my favorite in terms of replayability and story. As for DmC i'm actually hooked the first tine i finished this but i just cant seem to have the urge to replay this, i dont even play the vergil story.
Maybe i just didn't get the story and character chemistry like i did with other dmc games.

@@JackTheSt_Ripper I don't disagree with your statements, besides the last line. How is DMC5 "heavily based" on DmC. Keep in mind, heavily based means that it bears most similarity to that game. Sorry to burst your bubble but the only similar things are: Realistic visuals, killcams, morphing environments and announcer callings. Hell, even realistic visuals were used only because they knew that'd catch people's attention, so it doesn't even count.
A lot like Darksiders 2. The final boss fight, hands shooting fire, spark inside that they had to strike, nephilim story, even the guy with the eye. Multiple weapons, two worlds, flying and grabbing those hooks... Devil, Lilith...

Nice video and its bits of gameplay, atleast you guys used his arsenal than just relying too much on the guns just like what you guys did on the vid for DMC 4. All in all it is fun to watch as a whole.
