Reviving the Entongooli: Getting things Dung!

  • Excuse the pun, but there is no way around this part of the process which is fascinating! To protect the base of the Entongooli, they are smeared with cowdung, coated entirely and then left to dry. This process is to protect the wood from cracking, and also the protect it from weevils and insects destroying the wooden base. This method means the instruments can last for upward of a hundred years.
