Unfortunately scrutineering was the worst ive experienced in the 20 years as an entrant. The food and merch should have been in an accessible area, not tucked behind the scrutineering tents. Previous years we had minor waiting time. This year we had a clearly booked Wednesday time slot which was running about 2hrs late. Thanks for your insights into why it was a mess this year. Cheers.
Cheers Howard. In a large part for your efforts here, you got me off my backside to travel the length of the country to spend 4 full days. Mind blown, the days at the event were amazing but possibly underrated, I really enjoyed the Braddon stuff. Cant' beat the respectful community energy across the city. Huge regret for the missed 35 but am looking forward to the rest till I drop. [For the media only readers out there, was first time visit by chance less than 10 feet from the incident. Bit of reality, zero threat from/to the public. Bit of gawking and the crowd self-regulated back to 100% normal 20 mins later.]
Great video as always, would love to see your perspective on how summernats has evolved since you first attended to now, and hear about events that no longer run, and the experiences of being an entrant rather than a spectator. Looking forward to see what you do in 2024 and can't wait for more panel van content! Cheers.
Great event report , i have followed this online for a coule of years now and fancy a trip to australia at some point to check out an event . Cheers and look forward to more videos and van updates .
Great insight into # 36 , looks like the event has outgrown it's self. I believe the original concept may have been OK in the day! Maybe a new revamp is required! Thanks again Howard and crew! Bill Mc.
@AstillDesign why don't they kick guys out who stand on the road at 6pm Saturday onwards and entrants who do burnouts in that top area. It aint rocket science.
Went on Wednesday at 5pm at my scrutineering time. Took 1h30m to move off the main road and then 30mins to get through the to the tents for stickers. A problem I thought was having the street drivers and trailer cars going through the one area.. Keep em separate like they used to.
I have seen it evolve over the last 30 odd years, was worst experience was about 15 years ago with a trailer that took 6 hours. I think this venue works and I'm sure it will improve.
Has the Supercruise officially died? I remember crowds so jam packed around the course, there was no where to sit let alone stand. The crowd looks patchy at best.
The gates were locked for security reasons for about an hour just before it was on so that didn’t help. Plus the old Chic Henry extravaganzas Thame been replace with the bands
The crowd was massive on the grass as the supercruise was due to start, but the new format and focus on the grandstand and stopping cars for awards ruined it. Everyone on the grass walked away.

My record was with the coolmint Coupe, about 15 years ago and was 6 hours on Thursday arvo /night

I'm a Holden/GM man at heart but I like all types of models and manufacturers.... that bronze XE. Oh my God!
Something special
Thanks again howard. It was a big few days and taking the time to drag the camera around and share with us was great. Nice edit as usual.
You bet
Thanks for the relaxed insights. I've never been to the event.
There's a few builds I'd love to see in person so maybe Motorex in May, cheers.
Sounds great!
Thanks for the footage again

I think it is slowing evolving in a good way. Just need to stop the burnouts on the cruise route.

I haven't worked that out either.

2025 will never happen 😢 after whats happened, sad days, thanks for another awesome episode Howard Cheers🍻🍻🍻 KC 🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😊👍
I’m sure there will be a way with a few more changes
@@AstillDesign yes agree with you there 😊🇦🇺👍🍻🍻
The biggest issue I see is the same as it is in the states. People wandering around oblivious to anything around them.
True

@@AstillDesign True - plus now you have the Fringe festival competing as well.
No fireworks for the young ones and families wouldn't help I agree.

2750 entrants
Summernats? Family friendly? 🤣😂 Oh dear.
If you attend and do as we do in this video it certainly is no different to any other major event. keep your children close and enjoy the event.
This years summernats has hit the news for all the wrong resins
Unfortunately social media does that
