Thank you! Creambacks are the M12-65, and the poweramp is the Mooer Baby Bomb. I've since swapped the poweramp out for the Orange Pedal Baby though, the Baby Bomb had some issues with noise at anything beyond whisper volumes. -Kai
Yes, using a _real_ amp + anything is really convoluted, and I tend to get weird noises everywhere. I have questions about a real amp + IRs: Are you using a Torpedo Captor or a Captor X? Are you getting the signal into the interface/DAW from the LINE or XLR output (if using the normal Captor)? what is your Out Level? is it powered via phantom power, the DC adapter, or nothing? I get very different 'results' from different combinations of the previous parameters.
Typically, weird noises are due to power - changing power outlets might be all you need to get it noise-free. I'm using the Captor 8 powered, XLR out into the interface, output level is normally close to maxed out. -Kai
@@mlsoundlab Thank you for the reply! I have a Captor 16. I do think there might be some issue with the power, quite possibly a ground loop. If I use the XLR output (with Phantom power from the interface, as it doesn't seem to work without it) is when I get noises. If I use the TRS output, then I get some 'clipping' from the Out Level knob. My interface power adaptor does not have a ground, so maybe something is off in the outlet the amp is connected to.
I actually misspoke in the last comment - the Captor 8 is running on phantom power, my apologies. Have you tried the ground lift on the unit? That might help you out. -Kai
@@mlsoundlab Thank you for following with this. I found that I had a bad ground in the energy socket the amp is connected to. But some of the noise is actually coming from the FX Loop on the amp! Turns out it really does need some maintenance after 10+ years. Thanks!
Hey Kai! question, what would you say inside the pantheon of ML Plugins (Amps) comes the closest to a Peavy 6505? i think i might know the answer but i'm still curious. Thank You! great video...
It’s weird whenever a channel that makes their income by digital products talks about anything like real amps/cabs vs blah blah. I did not even watch it. Real amps and real cabs will always be the GOATs. Everything else is a copy of a copy
Totally understand that I’m coming at this from a point of inherent bias. In a perfect world, amp and cab would be the best choice - but you have to factor in a few major cons with that rig. This video is just a general look at four different ways you can run a guitar rig. I’m not specifically trying to sell anything here - that’s not really what we do on this channel outside of the specific plugin promo videos. -Kai
Depends on the sound you want or what suits whatever you're doing. Loads of bands (I'm talking bigger names, out gigging/touring) tend to use the big amp stacks still, and lots of bigger studios aren't exactly throwing out their beautifully maintained vintage amp collections I grant you, but that's not to say they all do, or do that all the time. And the other end of it (which is where this software is aimed) is the home/prosumer studio who can't have rooms full of perfectly mic-ed amps, and in those situations we're quite lucky we can get as far as we can with the plugins we've got now. I mean heck if you have an amp collection that suits you and wherewithal to make the best use of them then more power to you, good thing to be doing. But there are also people who just want the best of what they can get, and amp sims and software that get them further is a fine thing to have the chance to use.
The hardest thing these days is finding a bad tone. Looking for a real spider II plugin for that middle school death core sound
podfarm
Jzir has a free pantera ir that sounds badass
That Mega Djent IR is so versatile. ANGR plug-in sounds great too. Which Creambacks are in the cab? Which Mooer power amp was used?

Is that a New Retro Wave 80s paint job on your guitar? Looks rad dude 👍

@@mlsoundlab we need an Riviera knucklehead Plugin or a Engl Powerball
I can attest to ML Sound Lab cab IRs and Mikko2 sounding absolutely majestic
