I love your channel so much, and I can't believe you haven't absolutely blown up yet! I love how you explain why you do what you do, not just show us. Thank you for making such educational and entertaining content, and please never stop!!
@@ChainBaker I made a test batch yesterday, and they turned out almost great. I will have to cut a little deeper, so the spikes are more pronounced, but they still look as good as they taste. :D
I'm loving this channel also. My family all bake and I am starting to get interested in it as well. Even my highly experienced baker of a mother is learning new stuff from this channel.
Impressive! Beautiful! This is so unique! Thank you for sharing it :) definitely gonna be on my holiday list of baking items :) hope it turns out like yours!
This looks absoutely epic! Interesting how you use the scissors, I'm sure you could do a hedgehog too! Completely watched to the end and enjoyed. Great explanations, voice overs and visuals, this is incredibly inspiring. Keep up the great work. James ?;^D
The pinecones have cooled - I did cut a small piece to try (as I'm still snacking on Poppy Seed rolls). This is delicious - more like cocoa bread with a sweet sticky/crunchy shell. Photo has been posted. Thanks for sharing a wonderful and fun recipe. I think maybe hedgehogs next time.
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 sorry, that’s not the first thing I saw 😂😂😂 please forgive my sense of humour 😂😂 I’m sure they’ll be very nice! Thanks for your recipe. Have a lovely Christmas 🎅🇬🇧
Thank you. I do have a few different cinnamon rolls/buns/knots. I think the first one is the one you're after. The best ones are made of chocolate dough indeed, tried this. Simple, delicious crispy, light and yummy! But I cheated I used more sugar and added a little nutmeg and cinnamon because why not!!!! Great recipe and even greater video, thank you so much. Why the h*** you have not exploded all over UA-cam yet is beyond logic! P.S: Thank you for adding more weight on my waist xD. I REGRET NOTHING, because I am baking this one again this week.. just to have another taste test of four pinecones :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed them! :) One thing about nutmeg and cinnamon that I only found out recently - they both slow down yeast activity so you may need to ferment for longer. Hey as long as you can get back into shape it's no problem :D Over the last two years of making videos for this channel I gained a lot of weight. It was not easy to get back in shape. Took me 6 months of training and intermittent fasting to lose 15kg! Stay healthy my friend ;)
In the middle of making these right now, so far so good. Just bought something using ur affiliate link, I hope your working on a cook book because I know I already want to buy it. Lol
@@ChainBaker haven’t tasted them yet, will later today though! But they look great! A few of the pointy bits fell down but enough stayed up to keep the look lol do you have an Instagram for the channel?
Good question. I guess it may work. It would be like adding more fat and sugar to the dough, so it would make it stickier and harder to work with. The yeast should not die unless the chocolate is extremely hot.
I guess you could spread a thin layer onto the dough when doing the final shaping before rolling it up or perhaps add some pieces of chocolate at that point. But it could also end up in a mess :) What I would personally do is fully bake the buns, cool them down. Slice them horizontally and spread with some Nutella or any other chocolatey spread to make pine cone shaped chocolate sandwiches. Then at least there is no risk of failure.
I baked this. they taste amazing, altough my dough was a lot more stickier than yours, with the exact same ingredients and temperatures(maybe my flour wasnt very good with the amount of milk and fat that goes into it). That made it harder for me to cut it precisely like you did, so I ended up making either little poops, or cockroaches. Still gewd 10/10

Outside storm Eunice is raging. i am cozy inside watching your amazing bread baking skills. Thanks!
I just flew back from the shops 😆 they made me go home early from work because of it 🌬️
I can't help smiling when I look at these enchanting pinecones. I'm sending this video to my husband who is taking a bread baking class soon.
I haven't expected that it could be possible in life to make such pleasantly looking and similar to Christmas toy bread! Fantastic idea!
Having a dip back into cold temperatures after a few hot days, and these sound perfect! I've been craving chocolate things lol.
Love this bread, i have to try it. Never seen these before. Very cool

These are super cool! Love Christmas! Making these this year and I have all year to practice! 😂👍🏻
You can do it! :D
“About 23 minutes”. That’s casually specific. 😂👍🏻
😆
Remember me when you hit a million subscribers! Not gonna stop until I eat all this bread.

@chainbaker Looking forward to seeing your pinecones 😁
Can this be done with melted chocolate. And how does it affect hydration. Will it still be a bread or does it become a chocolate brownie.
Also, had another thought. Pouring melted chocolate into the kneading process, will it kill the yeast in the dough
Good question. I guess it may work. It would be like adding more fat and sugar to the dough, so it would make it stickier and harder to work with. The yeast should not die unless the chocolate is extremely hot.
Hi Charlie, is it possible to replace sour cream with yogurt in the recipe
Hey! :) Yes, you can definitely replace the sour cream with yogurt. Just use some thick full fat yogurt for the best restul.
Do you think you could swirl in some kind of chocolate filling to make them even more desert like? How would you go about doing that?
I guess you could spread a thin layer onto the dough when doing the final shaping before rolling it up or perhaps add some pieces of chocolate at that point. But it could also end up in a mess :) What I would personally do is fully bake the buns, cool them down. Yeah could be the flour. Try adding less liquid next time and it should work 😉
Wonder if infusing the sugar water with some juniper berries will get the pinecones to taste and smell a bit more like pine 🤔
Definitely! 🤩
I think those chocolate pine cones need chocolate chip "pine nuts" hiding inside.☺️
For sure! 😁
I almost didn't click, thinking the thumbnail was roaches 🪲🪲
