All these years later and this is as fresh, vital and entertaining as it must have been when it first aired. No wonder Martin and Lewis were a sensation and what an absolutely superb dance act. To hold their own with these guys was no mean feat! Thank you so much for posting this outstanding clip,
You have to remember that Dean and Jerry were REAL entertainers. So, they had to look like they could hang with the Step Brothers, who were probably the Best of their kind during this era. This is also how Jerry ruined his back and became a Percodan addict. I've done a few of those myself. They're quite good....
He does that move over and over again in his act and I know he is young and strong enough to break the fall with his hands, but it is of little wonder that he did such skeletal damage to himself. As he himself said: "That's comedy kid"!
I never knew that he seriously hurt himself doing this. Woah, makes you appreciate him even more knowing the damage he was willing to endure for our entertainment.
Other people have that skit on youtube. I was trying to put on D&J skits I couldn't find much of on here so people who don't have the DVDs (or who are just casual fans) can see them.
jessie james Don’t forget that Dean was 9 years older, more heavily built, and was always a heavy smoker all of his life (in fact, it was the cigarettes that sadly caused the cancer and emphysema that eventually killed him, some 40 years after this show was aired).
@seajayaway There is more to it - it's about Jerry playing someone trying to get a part in a play. I didn't have it to upload & besides, Indy7888 had already uploaded it so I didn't bother. You might try asking her. Sorry & good luck.
Nothing racist here. The guys called everybody boys or girls, what's wrong with that anyway, like guys and dolls?, its affectionate. They were all great pals. Ps Dean and her both get dancers
AHH this is the same episode where jerry imitates brando. i've been trying to find the full sketch but IT IS NOWHERE. if you have it can you put it up?!!?
johnathan clark Oh, come on now, Dean clearly didn’t mean anything racist by his introduction. He often used the word ‘boy’ when talking to Jerry, and even later with Frank. He’s obviously using it here in the more general sense, in the same way you might say ‘four guys’ or ‘four fellas’.
Just remember how long ago this was. It was in an era when something like this was considered quite entertaining. Ever person involved seems to be having an "equal" amount of fun.
Not racist at all. The Stepp Brothers often appeared with Martin & Lewis and they said themselves that they got on well with Jerry and Dean. This was ahead of it's time for the era.

This segment is really good. You can tell that Jerry loved every element of show business. His whole life.
Most people don't realize that Jerry was quite the dancer! He could tap and Jitterbug too!
He was a superb dancer, taught via the Vaudevillians he watched and worked with from childhood and as the kid of performers himself.
Wow too much talent in one short clip!
Real entertainers with real talent.
Never saw Dean Martin tap. Very very kewl. Knew Jerry could.thanks Bev for turning me on to this
Outstanding footwork.. Brilliant
Mighty grown to be boys.
Fabulous!!!
Always loved the Step Brothers. The best accompaniment to tap is voice and hand.
The Step Brothers were great.

Dean could really move! Go Dino!
"There goes speedy! Don't hurt yourself boobby!"

Oh, I hate that. Okay, I'll try to put on that skit with Jer trying to get into Dean's show. I like that one.
Dude beginning at 2:28 was unreal.
Ah boooby I'm tired. Heart jerry.
I know!!!! How sweet!!! Little, cute Jerry
Is this from the first volume?
And...was this the fall responsible for Jerry having to take the pain pills? One major fall was.
Jan Corn no that was in 1965 on the andy williams show
No. In Las Vegas in the 1979s or 80s.
Jerry huges up the show from Dean.
Dean said four Boys

Very racist.

that seems true!!! Jerry is doing Stump from Stump and Stumpy.....not Cagney

they were probably younger than Dean and that’s why he said generally boys get off it already was nothing racist
