  • BBC The Traitors star Andrew Jenkins is fronting Headway's A Life Re-written campaign, exploring how brain injury can affect anyone at any time, focussing on how it throws plans into disarray, changes life goals, and can even alter people’s sense of identity.
Andrew is a familiar face to many after appearing in series 2 of the BBC TV reality show The Traitors, where he was a popular finalist and shared his personal experiences of being a brain injury survivor following a catastrophic car crash in 1999.
As well as sharing his own story as part of A Life Re-written, Andrew has spoken to brain injury survivors Alison, Liz, and Liz’s daughter Justina about how all their lives were rewritten after brain injury. He has also spoken to brain injury survivor and professional photographer David Baker, who has provided the photographs for the campaign.
    Andrew said:
“Headway - the brain injury association is an amazing charity doing amazing things to help people rebuild their lives after brain injury. I’m delighted to support this year’s Action for Brain Injury Week and help tell the story of others who have had their lives rewritten by brain injury.”

I had a serious accident in 2004 whilst cycling when a bus went straight into me on the wrong side of the road. I was unconcious for about 48 hrs and woke up in intensive care. I am now deaf in one ear and have a kind of pain in my head when under pressure. My thinking seems alright thankfully but the pressure of certain social things does cause me concern. I have adjusted life to suit my situation. I still swim and play tennis but have a slight balance infirmity which I have to watch by concentrating on the task I am doing.
