Her "no, no, no" genuinely scares me. I love his singsongy, sadistic voice. But dang that Hyde is handsome. I know he's a psycho, but still...the man can act. And she's fantastic. Not to mention the singing. THE SINGING.
Evil is supposed to be seductive which is why I never understood the need to make Hyde ugly or monstrous. The evil man does what the righteous man desires.
I think everyone agrees that they sound amazing, on par with the Broadway casts in terms of talent. What really stands out in this performance is that it's so classy even though they're basically singing about an attraction based on lust and violence. We've all seen that other version with Constantine, with the skimpy costumes and provocative choreography. But this... he just plays with her hair or touches her elbow and their acting is so good that it still ends up ten times more seductive. I love it.
MrMilou this scene is supposed to be pure luxury, pain, fear, anger, power...their version is just boring...awesome vocals...is great to listen...but boring to watch...
@ MrMilou, I agree with you! Not everything hast to be blatantly sexual, and I think this is a much better portrayal of the dynamic and relationship between these two. Hyde is a manifestation of Jekyll's primal side-- there is rage and violence in his nature, but also keen intelligence, and a wild passion for freedom he has tempered which stands out in the time that the original story was written and portrayed. Both Jekyll and Hyde respect Lucy, which is another reason the actions made here stand out more than the newer renditions of the more publicized show. He wants to seduce her, at times kill her, but he doesn't treat her like his other victims for a reason, because her character attracts him, and she is not afraid to stand her ground.
I respectfully disagree. I think sexuality is lacking here. It's tough for teenagers to understand sexuality to that extent. Plus, the boy looks like such a nice guy, and doesn't seem like a bad guy as Hyde supposed to be lol
Seriously when he has her cornered and she’s singing “no, no, no” my heart just breaks. Also terrified of Hyde. The acting is so GOOD. They both nail what the lyrics mean to their character and act them accordingly. I’m shook with their voices. The way he acts so predatory and sadistic, it creeps me out so much, and I love the fact that he is able to act that well. Her acting is just breaking my heart and it’s so clear what’s happening. Her internal battle is written all over her face. All of the not- so- subtle acting thrown in on the line “we don’t want to hear” is GOLD
Never thought a highschooler would give me my favourite portrayal of Lucy. I prefer Linda Eder's voice, however this girl convinces me more of Lucy's fear yet undeniable attraction towards Hyde and her inner conflict with that. They looked a bit stiff acting-wise at some points in the performance, but most of the magic came through in their voices anyway. So good!
Is it just me, or does it seem that he’s Every once in a while fighting against Jekyll trying to interrupt? Either way, I’m absolutely entranced by this AMAZING performance!
When Hyde sings the “No, no, no!” part, I always believed it was Hyde’s anger from Lucy trying to get away from him, but also Jekyll begging Hyde not to hurt his friend. It definitely works in this version too!
My goodness! I love how they move in to a dark corner at 4:46 It almost filled me with dread somehow? Again, Gregorio is a great Hyde! And I love Noelle!
How is it that I find myself wanting to be Lucy in this moment...? Maybe it’s just this particular Hyde but whatever the reason, this version of this song now haunts my existence in the best way possible. I literally can’t get enough of it ❤️
Wow. Jaw to the floor doesn't describe the state of awe I am in by this. I really saw the action of Lucy drifting under Hyde's spell. In the version with Coleen Sexton and the Hoff, it just looked like Lucy was trying to get away from Hyde, and in the version with Linda Eder and Rob Evan, I just didn't feel the Lucy; like Eder really didn't know the character of Lucy. But I am floored by this. Kudos to you guys!
Kia Burt well it's supposed to be thrilling because Hyde hurt Lucy and is extremely abusive, but she can't escape, she's afraid but still attracted, I didn't really feel this 100% throughout the piece but it was still amazing!
I find it hard to believe that Linda Eder wouldn't know the character of Lucy considering it was *written for her.* Linda has admitted that she's not the best actress ever, but she IS Lucy because she created the role. Coleen, I will say, is the better actress overall, but interpretation is subjective. Each actress has her own take on the role. Put it into perspective: Linda played the role of Lucy in various productions of Jekyll and Hyde from age 26 to 37, and most people are familiar with her Broadway performance, which was when she was older. So yeah, her interpretation is going to be a more mature, street-smart, cynical, and forlorn Lucy. Just because more interpretations of Lucy are naive Disney types, which works depending on the actress' skill, doesn't mean an actress, especially Linda, doesn't "get" the role because her interpretation is different.
Not only that but he turns back into Jekyll at one point and she recognizes it. You can hear the switch in his voice. She actually doesn't pull away from him as much during that part. He is Jekyll after he says "Loud and clearly" and turns back into Hyde after he says, "feelings I can't define. That's part of the reason you see the drawing in bcuz at some point she realizes it is Jekyll in that moment and she isn't as scared. There are quite a few songs where when Hyde is with Lucy that Jekyll comes out for a moment. You have to listen to how his singing sounds. It gives me the chills every time.
Coleen and Rob Evans from the 2000/01 run is an amazing pairing, as is Linda with Robert Cuccioli from the 1997 run. It really depends on who is being paired up with whom. And Jessica is very right, Lucy was a custom made roll for Linda. Lucy was meant to be Linda. Frank Wildhorn wrote it around her personality and her as a person, so Lucy is literally Linda and vice versa, mainly because she never acted before, but was well known for her singing, and so in 1987, Frank brought her in and made Lucy, putting Linda as a person into the character that became Lucy. She, thus, knows Lucy better than anyone ever will, because she is literally Lucy. Someone Like You was also a custom made song, and sort of a love song between Linda and Frank (who ended up marrying each other and had a son together, though are not still together, unfortunately.) and additionally, Frank wrote the songs for Linda's voice. Lucy would not exist without Linda.
THIS is how it should've been between Hasselhoff and Colleen Sexton. Like other people said, in that version, it looked like she wanted to get away from him. Someone actually animated this scene on UA-cam with the original soundtrack for this song and man I love that one too. The acting by both of them is phenomenal! Wow! Never would've thought this was a high school production. My heart broke for the girl who played Lucy, she did very well with showing emotional and physical conflict within herself. Freaking marvelous! If they choose to commit to an acting career, they'll definitely go far in life. 😁🎭
What can be better than a great rendition of this amazing duet? A great rendition of this amazing duet with a huge reference to another amazing duet from POTO!
I wish i could talk to Jekyll/Hyde face-to-face.....that was PHENOMINAL!!!! I'VE NEVER HEARD A VOICE LIKE THAT IN MY LIFE.....I HAD GOOSEBUMPS, AND I LOVED IT!!! HAHAHA!!!! 😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤
This is the best version of the musical hands-down. Everyone is so insanely talented, the lighting and set design is one of the best I’ve ever seen, it is so amazing.
She reminds me quite a bit of Carrie Hope Fletcher, similar tone of voice. I mean, Gregorio reminds me a bit of Ben Forster but with a slightly deeper pitch. Both incredible!
By the way, I was right about this version being used in an animatic. It was done by Mangomomm. She also has a brilliant Phantom of the Opera animatic as well.
It doesn't quite fit, but this almost feels like a song that would belong to Stanley and Stella from A Streetcar named Desire. The whole "he's a brute and she's afraid of him but at the same time drawn to the brutality" thing, if that makes sense.
Gods this is phenomenal, kinda wish they made some of the actions more obvious. I love the subtle touches, but when you're in the audience, those things can be hard to see
Omg her opening of that song was phenomenal. I loved it even more than Linda. So much contextual and colorful emphasis. Simply a masterpiece performance. I mean damn, what Highschool are you people from? Like for real? Fuck. Incredible Job Noelle!
If this boy doesn't play the phantom I don't know what I'll do.
Hannah Maria yeah, that's what I was thinking but they already did the musical.
They could always redo the musical and invite him back to the academy to play the role, just like how they did with Titanic and Aida
Her "no, no, no" genuinely scares me. I love his singsongy, sadistic voice. But dang that Hyde is handsome. I know he's a psycho, but still...the man can act. And she's fantastic. Not to mention the singing. THE SINGING.
Yes is voice is fantastic sadistic so much sexy
@Sarah Hamilfan sing with pain and desire
Evil is supposed to be seductive which is why I never understood the need to make Hyde ugly or monstrous. The evil man does what the righteous man desires.

This young man is putting a lot of effort into his low voice, but his high parts are great. He'd make a great phantom
Yeeees! That’s what I think too! He’d be a great Phantom!!! 😀🖤🎶
i thought the same exact thing
He’d be a great Phantom! Got ALL the TOOLS! The voice, look, energy, intensity!!
that’s a future phantom and christine right there
Yes 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I second that!! 👻👻👻 🎶🎶🎶
IKR---i can simply see them sing 'Past the point of no return' xD
The set itself reminds me of the one in the Phantom of the Opera movie starred by Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum
Yeeees!!! 🎶🖤👏🏼
phantom, hyde, Dracula... I'm beginning to question my taste in men
Maddie Rus me too........... why??
Me too!
Same!
Same here...
My only taste!

I agree with all of you slightly. I think there needs to be a valence between the too, not too much/ more of one or the other
I couldn't agree more. So scaringly seductive, gives me chills.
Seriously when he has her cornered and she’s singing “no, no, no” my heart just breaks. Also terrified of Hyde. The acting is so GOOD. Linda is unmatched, a rarity that will be difficult to find in the foreseable future. A gem
Linda is an accomplished singer but sad to say, never really an actress. This lady, Noelle, however, possess both vocal and acting skills
Is it just me, or does it seem that he’s
Every once in a while fighting against Jekyll trying to interrupt? Either way, I’m absolutely entranced by this AMAZING performance!

HE is
Actually I believe Hyde brought Jekyll there
ive watched this 50000 times. I dropped out of school so I could watch this more. I've created a time paradox just so I could watch this more. rip
this is my favorite youtube comment ever thank you
I would reply but- (insert time loop)
One of the best Lucy's I've ever seen and Hyde seems so sadistic I love it
Honestly,Gregorio gives Hyde the same charisma and likable-ness that Johnny Depp gives Sweeney Todd.
And,Noelle? I believe..My Word ,that voice!
This is phenomenal! I love the guy whose playing Jekyll! The way he talks to Lucy makes you hate and love him at the same time.
DAYUM Hyde isn’t supposed to be that hot
Ummmmm...that's a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
I LOVE HOW THEY ARE CHILDREN, DOING THIS! 17/18 tops am sure
It's amazing how they stole the show in this scene!
It takes years to be this good!
My goodness! I love how they move in to a dark corner at 4:46 It almost filled me with dread somehow? Again, Gregorio is a great Hyde! And I love Noelle!

Is it bad that I really like Dr. Hyde?
Mr. Hyde*
Nope.
Probably 😂
@lady ali , you’re right; Henry Jekyll has the PhD, but Edward Hyde doesn’t have one
HYDE WOULD BE A TEEERRIBLE DOCTOR

Is it a problem that I want her dress?
Nope, totally get it
this Hyde is hot!
She reminds me quite a bit of Carrie Hope Fletcher, similar tone of voice. I mean, Gregorio reminds me a bit of Ben Forster but with a slightly deeper pitch. Both incredible!
Their voices are amazing
This was incredible! amazing job!
She is the most talented actress I have ever listened too. I hope good things happened to her.
AMAZINNNNNG. Needed a little bit more strong of an acting but it's absolutely OUTSTANDING. AND THEY'RE SO YOUNG!!!!!!
Okay everyone I LOVE Gregorio here but check the 2020 version! He is somehow ever better!

I've never been tryna slide a villain my number more than now

Her voice is amazing!
Edit: So is his
Yeah lol
God I would do ANYTHING to be Lucy in this scene
I like Lucy’s outfit

( I’m high )
My Edward, come to me!🌺❤️
Who the heck are these kids? 👏👏
Gods this is phenomenal, kinda wish they made some of the actions more obvious. I love the subtle touches, but when you're in the audience, those things can be hard to see
His voice when talking is amazing and both sound great singing ! Does your description mean this was a HS production bc if so that’s insane !!!
Oh wow ❤
Better than hasselhoff
This version of Lucy seems more repulsed by Hyde than other versions.
Omg her opening of that song was phenomenal. I loved it even more than Linda. So much contextual and colorful emphasis. Simply a masterpiece performance.
I mean damn, what Highschool are you people from? Like for real? Fuck.
Incredible Job Noelle!
damn boy! lol
3:25 boi he MAD
❤
That boy is good at turning on the sliminess
Is there a way I can see the whole show?? This is amazing btw from what I’ve seen
