Excellent video but if you change the home city say Tokyo, to receive a signal from the app won't that require to re set tide settings on a G-Lide model when you go back to the home time?
Thank you. 🙏 Great question, Tim! I’m afraid I don’t own any watches with tide settings, so I am unable to test if this would be impacted - my apologies. Perhaps someone else can weigh in, if you see this comment, as I’d love to know the answer too!
@@goatreviews I have now both the G-Lide GWX solar radio wave and the Casio G-Lide battery without the radio wave. In Australia which would be best? I can confirm that the sync app is great but the problem is that once you change home time to Tokyo you have to reset the tide settings. Consequently it is just as simple to change the time manually and practically, unless you are spending time overseas there appears to be little benefit in the radio wave function. Having said that it is fun to do but fiddley. It is easier to set the time manually. Also on the GLX the battery is 7 years and the print is marginally bigger and more legible. Both have pros and cons. It is amazing how Casio has these subtle differences between various models.
G'day Tim! While I really like the face of the battery model (and the vibe alarm!) I'd still go with the GWX - If for nothing else than the Tough Solar. Sure, you wouldn't be able to make use of the Multi-Band 6 (As you said, you may as well do so manually since it disrupts the tide settings), however, that doesn't mean it's worth writing off this watch for use in Australia! Great point. The long 7 year battery life is tempting, along with the MIP display, though I have found these displays get dirty a little easier. It is indeed a tough call though. That's just what I would choose! Which option is pulling you, Tim? 🤔💭
@@goatreviews I'm thinking of keeping both. I have a dressier titanium mod for the black GWX and can set home time to Tokyo (with Japan tide info) and while in Australia just have the world time as Sydney to keep time. Then use the GLX for surfing, running etc so it has the local tide info when I need it. The GLX also has a 24 hour stop watch while GWX is only 1 hour. Interesting to compare the two.
Man, that's so cool to hear you're using it for Surfing@@timmcdonald5335! I love hearing about G-Shocks getting put to the test "on the field" 😁 A fair call. You know, I almost suggested the GW-B5600 to you, as that one has the option to use Bluetooth instead of Multi-Band 6 to keep atomic time! (It's what I use in Australia) But it sounds like the Tide Settings would be too useful to be sacrificed for a G-Shocker like yourself! 🏄♂🤙
Hello. Can you please help to decide me which application to choose for Bluetooth synchronization? Casio watches app or G-shock app? I have GBD-800 watch.
G'day Cane! My understanding is that the app needed is the "Casio Watches" App. That's what I have my GBD-200 connected to 🙂 I believe they are migrating people from the old G-Shock app, and you may need to create an account to log in. Hope this helps! 🙏
I live in Jakarta, Indonesia, not much cities in the world with GMT+7 and no cities in that time zone is within range of all 6 multiband towers. So does that means I can only set my default time to Beijing or Tokyo right? and I'm guessing that you live in Perth? because you have same time zone with Beijing
Great question, Aji! 👌 I do know that you only need to be within range of ONE of the 6 towers to have your time automatically updated (If you enable Multi Band 6). However, as someone who isn't within range of any of the towers, I wouldn't know how the watch would behave if it received more than 1 differing signal, nor which tower ranges include Indonesia, unfortunately. Perhaps someone else can weigh in with some experience in this area. Yep, I'm in GMT +8 😁 Best of luck! 🙏
If your watch is a single-band Japanese watch, then set your phone's time and time zone to Tokyo, set Clock Wave to JJY station & "Auto" time zone, and set your watch's home time zone to Tokyo to sync. It will take more than 10 minutes. After syncing, set your watch's working time zone back to GMT+7. If your watch is a multi-band watch, then yes, you have to set your phone, Clock Wave, and watch's time zone to Hong Kong/Beijing or Tokyo to sync. The user's manual often has a section explaning "Radio Controlled Atomic Timekeeping." Changing the watch's home time zone also changes the frequency that in internal antenna looks for the signal. Since GMT+7 has no frequency, you have to change the watch's home time zone to where there is one.
The cell towers can if the congress want it. However, the congress decided on something even smarter (but not necessarily cheaper for civilians), which is that the GPS satellites emit a signal (un-degraded since year 2000) that can inform the accurate location and time anywhere in the world (originally intended to guide ICBMs). Thus we have GPS solar watches now.
@@gesalbte Understood, but if the cell towers would emit it, all the watches not GPS watches would work which is the mass majority of them. Thanks for the response.
@@mac11380 You are making an excellent point. Currently, most radio watches are JDM watches, because most of Japan is well covered by the 2 JJY signal towers. Radio watches have not been a popular offering in the West. For example, most North American Citizen-branded watchs are solar quartz models that require manual timekeeping. So for the typical watch guy who hasn't even heard of Clock Wave, he or she would be better off going for the GPS quartz watches or manual-timekeeping quartz watches.

That being said, there’s many out there who prioritise having that pin-point time as being worth the effort. This one’s for them! 🫡
Exactly, right? 👌 We’ve got soooo much space here too. Why not set up a Multi-Band 6 tower right in the middle of Australia, to cover the whole country 🤩💭🗼

Thanks Harlest71, it’s safe to assume this is an opinion shared with many! For myself in Australia, and others outside of the Multi-Band 6 zones, the inclusion of the feature is ‘incidental’, not really affecting our purchasing decision. @@gesalbte Interesting! Thanks for weighing in 🙏
Nice full of information thanks
All good, Jonald! 😁 Glad it was useful 👌
I love hearing about G-Shocks getting put to the test "on the field" 😁
A fair call.
That's what I have my GBD-200 connected to 🙂
I believe they are migrating people from the old G-Shock app, and you may need to create an account to log in. Hope this helps! 🙏

I LOVE CLOCK WAVE
Haha, cheers Tommy! 😁🙏
I do know that you only need to be within range of ONE of the 6 towers to have your time automatically updated (If you enable Multi Band 6).
However, as someone who isn't within range of any of the towers, I wouldn't know how the watch would behave if it received more than 1 differing signal, nor which tower ranges include Indonesia, unfortunately.
Perhaps someone else can weigh in with some experience in this area.
Yep, I'm in GMT +8 😁
Best of luck!
Thank you so much!!!
All good, Tdinut! Glad it was useful for you. 😁
Thank you!
You’re welcome, friend! 🙏 Always happy to help 😁
It would be nice if cell towers could emit the clock radio signal.
Mac, that is a BIG BRAIN IDEA! 🧠💡 I can picture it now, and it would be amazing 🤩💭
G Shock Connected now replaced by Casio Watches APP
That's correct Barry! 👌 Thanks for pointing this out. 🙏
What are your thoughts on the new Casio Watches App?
Radio watch sync is free and very good 👍🏼
Thanks for the recommendation, Jesse! 🙏
Unfortunately I can’t find it in the iOS App Store - perhaps it’s an Android alternative!
Thank you. :)
No problem, Lock! 🔒🙏
Glad it was helpful for you 👌
thanks.. its works
Glad to hear it, Jeenal! 🙌
Dude, I live in Moscow and the only working way to synchronize with the tower in Germany is to leave the watch lying on the ELECTRIC SCOOTER!
@@trvecvlt2007 On the scooter? 😂 Hahaha, that’s really interesting! 🧐
I suppose the shaft of the handlebars may be acting as an antennae, amplifying the signal! 📶
@@goatreviews No, I put the watch on the scooter deck in the area of the controller and charger. There are many power elements there.
@DeadMorozZel Interesting! 🤨 What do you suspect the reason for the improved signal is?
@@goatreviews Most likely, in the large amount of metal in the scooter frame and power elements (including coils) in the charger and controller.
is it death persons hand language?
Haha, nah I just move my hands when talking 😅 I have toned it down a bit since this video.
Chicago..ZNAJDZIESZ ZNAJDZIESZ MNIE-??
Cześć kolego! Wierzę, że ta aplikacja powinna działać w Chicago. Rozumiem, że sygnał MultiBand 6 działałby w Chicago natywnie, bez konieczności stosowania jakiejkolwiek aplikacji 😁
What model?
Hi Karrio, the model used in the demonstration is a GW-M5610U with the following upgrade kit installed:

@@Karrio73 happy to help! 👌😁
Its a nice simple app, but it would be so much easier and MUCH quicker syncing the time manually on the watch using an online time service as a reference.
Thanks DanRc, I very much agree! 🤝
That’s why, as soon as I hit the roadblock of that high-pitched audio, I had to ask myself. Why don’t I just set it manually when needed?
That being said, there’s many out there who prioritise having that pin-point time as being worth the effort. This one’s for them! 🫡
_Not all of us G-Shock fan's are fortunate enough to live within the range of the Multi-Band 6 towers_ - Like us, here in Australia. 🙄
Exactly, right? 👌
We’ve got soooo much space here too. Why not set up a Multi-Band 6 tower right in the middle of Australia, to cover the whole country 🤩💭🗼
@@goatreviews It was shut down, because the government of the day and Telstra who ran and maintained it, saw it as an unnecessary expense. It's not coming back.
@@channelsixtyeight068_ Woah woah woah 😨
You’re telling me we used to have one?!
“Unnecessary Expense”…
That’s insane! We need to petition Telstra to get this badboy back online!! 🤩
@@goatreviews - It's not going to happen. It cost money to run it and the government won't fund it. For a quick reference look at the "Radio Clock" article in Wikipedia. It's ridiculous that we don't have our own synchronised time keeping broadcasts down on the LF bands between 30khz to 300khz.
@channelsixtyeight068_ Aww man. I’ll have to keep dreaming then 🥲💭
Thanks for the info! 🙏
The reason I bought a Multi ban 6 Casio was so I didn't have to rely on my phone or the internet.
Tough luck if you're located in a place too far for any of the transmitters
Thanks Harlest71, it’s safe to assume this is an opinion shared with many!
For myself in Australia, and others outside of the Multi-Band 6 zones, the inclusion of the feature is ‘incidental’, not really affecting our purchasing decision.
However, it is nice to know there’s a workaround if we ever need it! 😁
The radio / atomic signal is not always available in my area. It's kind of hit or miss. Hopefully for you in your area its better.
It REALLY annoys me that Casio was too lazy to make this app for all the people who can't use the Multi-Band Transmitters !!
Man, this is a great point, actually. 👌 Why don't they make their own version? 🤔 It would be much more accessible.
That being said, I really dislike the Casio Watches app they do have... Just today I found out it had been tracking my location at ALL TIMES even with the app closed, in the background for 3 days! (A feature the app encouraged me to 'enable' to ensure I could Bluetooth sync my watch 🙄)
@goatreviews The Casio app has a HUGE list of problems.
I had a friend who couldn't get notifications working properly on his Casio smart watch.
I searched for a solution.
There's thousands of people complaining about it since 2020 and no SW update from Casio 🫤
you talk too much
Thanks for the feedback 🙏
