I've never heard the perspective of someone who's watched this show without playing the game first so that was pretty interesting. This is an adaptation of the penultimate chapter in an eight chapter story so I can definitely see how the story would be hard to follow if you're just dropping right in there without any background knowledge. But still, as you said, the animation for the series is so incredible that you can leave the story as background noise and marvel at the visual splendour.
I have not played fate grand order butI watched it likes this. 20mins of ep 0 and then watch the fate grand order first order movie. It is logical to do that bc it explains the singularities the best way
I know only the "base" Fate. I mean, the Visual Novel and Shiro's story. And I can say the only thing, THE ONLY THING, I like about Fate as a whole are the servants. They are such a cool concept to me.
And guess what, Grand Order is basically "Servants and cooler Servants the anime" so, even though I know basically nothing about Grand Order, I enjoyed it. I can't believe I liked Gilgamesh. And Ereshkigal is best girl and must be "protecced"
So yeah, Servants are the stars so let's forget about the Shiro's in the franchise, please (?
What was my point again?.. Oh. I enjoyed GO even though I didn't know anything about it.
I respectfully disagree, imo the servants (and the lore around fgo in general) have always been the least intresting thing in the nasuverse. Modern fate is focused on the servants far more then the characters, thing is that most servants fall short of their historical counterparts in writing and quality. with notable exceptions like gilgamesh or arturia who is barely even the same character as arthur. fate has always been at its best when its not focsed on just retelling history imo, it's why waver is universally almost everyone's fav zero character for example. It's why archer or angra mainyu are probaply the most beloved servants because they barely resemble anything historical (archer being litteraly from the future). it's why vn elitist also say that mahouyo and tsukihime are far better then anything else in the nasuverse. tough thats just my view on it as a vn elitist. (also imo shirou is like a billion times more well written then every character in babylonia combined, it's why anyone intrested schould really try the vn it's one of the most influential things you can find in the visual novel medium). still a beautifull and enjoyable anime
It's not that the story is hard to follow, it's that it isn't very good.
@@AnimeReference mate, the story is awesome, as FGO player i already see the background story and its dang awesome if all singgularity is being animated until the final singgularity (one of the climax story) Fate Grand Order would be one of the best anime "Series" out there

I prefer Gilgamesh in this version of fate than fate zero or the other ones.

The issue with Babylonia is that it's literally the penultimate chapter of the first story arc of Fate/Grand Order. The importance of and seriousness of the events that take place in that chapter are hard to understand if you haven't played FGO or at least know the story of the 6 previous Singularities leading up to Babylonia.
The reason it was adapted, as opposed to any other portion of the story though, is because it was requested by the fans of FGO - alongside Camelot (which is getting those films.) It also represents some of the best writing in the first arc, along with Camelot. It really does seem like it was a series made for fans who have already experienced it, or at least fans of FGO who already know the basic elements of the story they're playing through.
This was the first thing of the Fate series that I watched. They totally illustrate that they have had many adventures like this before and that this one is a bigger and more apocalyptic than what they've had to face before. Nerd audiences aren't dumb.
@@Theyungcity23 It's less that they don't show that they've been on many adventures before, it's more that it's difficult to appreciate the stakes the the character development that's been built from 6 other large adventures. Like how overwhelmingly powerful the main antagonist is, who shit stomped us without breaking a sweat. This chapter was the 1st one to truly encounter a beast-class (Tiamat), and we know that the main antagonist is also a beast (and likely stronger). Mash can feel flat from this story alone since she doesn't really develop, but Babylonia is basically the culmination of all of her character growth that you don't really see (granted she's still kinda boring regardless).
Well there's also all the terms that wouldn't really appear in the other Fate mediums such as "Beasts" and "Authority". Not actually knowing of them means you don't really understand their weight.
Actually I agree.
They made this actually for fans who already playing the game.
Its their gift and present for us.
But of course they still try to make people who just know in the anime is somewhat get interested or become more "what is this guy talking about?" "why this guys just show up and act so important??" etc etc wwww
@@Theyungcity23 it's less about being dumb and more about knowing WHY and how the events were significant. There were so many characters, concepts etc which Babylonia anime doesn't explain because it's done introducing them in the six installments that came before it. It ends up feeling like unnecessary jargon to non fans and they get either bored or confused. And seeing it's your first Fate outing, you have no idea what it is the significance of Gilgamesh being a caster or Rin faced Ishtar working together with him (it's very ironic considering Fate Zero and Fate Strange Fake) or the silhouettes of unknown servants shown in one of the endings (the game fans knew but they didn't get mentioned in the anime) etc
It's more of a tribute to the fans that have already played the game, you can't really condense that absurd amount of info into a TV anime
Trying to condense all of the previous 6 Singularities into a massive infodump would've been catastrophic.
Imagine the new/casual fate fans wondering who was that Hassan guy.
Very True... They made a 23 episodes anime from a singularity in the game that you can complete within 5 hrs or so.
Try to picture them explaining Authorities, Quantum Time Locks, and the Beasts of Humanity in an infodump. It just wouldn't work.

And gilgamesh was amazing in this show
To be fair, Deen's Fate/stay night adaptation is only unpopular in retrospect. Back when it came out in 2006, it was considered ahead of it's time in terms of animation and stuff. It's only more than a decade later, when animation in general has improved and we have the high production standards of Ufotable to compare it to, that Deen's Fate/stay night ends up looking unpopular compared to it.
Yeah, that's absolutely true. I got into Fate after the Deen anime had started feeling dated, so that's definitely skewed public opinion on the series.
DEEN kinda butchered the story too. The issue with that anime isn't just the quality of animation alone.
Gilgamesh LFX but you can't denu that the soundtrack of Fsn is ahead of its time
Even as it was quite popular by that time, Ufo was already working on Type Moon works since roughly a year later than that Deen version (Kara no kyokai was 2007), and had a production and quality not that far from what we've seen in UBW 2014
Sorry wasn't ahead of its time at all. Naruto had nearly Babylonia type animations in the high budget episodes in 2003. Of course not every episode but it was absolutely doable. Overall when it comes to 2D animation you just have to put more time into it.

8:36 Fate is lore heavy in general, and FGO takes it up to an eleven. These concepts are usually introduced and explained gradually in the game (Babylonia is the 7th installment of Part 1 of the game)- and the show was aimed for the fans, so it's unrealistic that it would be that easy for newbies or those who've just watched FZ and ubw to jump in and completely keep up with everything.
Exactly it’s not just fate but the Nasu verse as a whole has so many concepts and ideals. FGO is just a small part of fate so I don’t know why he expected to know what was going on if he hasn’t played the game or have any background knowledge on the characters. I’ll admit I’m not on Babylonia and I watched the anime (yeah I spoiled myself lol) but I’m a huge Gilgamesh fan and have played FGO so I was ok with watching it but this dude doesn’t have any prior knowledge of fate besides the anime which isn’t gonna give you much.
And with LB arc drifting into the Nasuverse lore with the appearance of Black Barrel and ORT, people will just get more confused with it.
The Babylonia anime (& the upcoming Camelot movie & Solomon anime) is more of a reward for players of FGO than a simple anime adaptation since it is the penultimate chapter of Part 1 of the game. Both Babylonia (7th Singularity) & Camelot (6th Singularity) won in an in-game survey as the players' favorite chapter(s) of FGO during the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of the game in Japan, with Babylonia getting adapted as an anime series & Camelot as an upcoming animated movie. Anime-onlys watching this anime would be understandably confused, & the best way to fully understand the story is to, well, play the game (or watch the game cutscenes on UA-cam, but where's the fun in that?). Though they did throw in some big words here & there, the anime is actually easy to follow & digest (though that's probably because I've played this chapter in the game so I find the show easy to understand & I love the Fate franchise & the Nasuverse in general). In the end, the anime did its job really well: be an eye candy reward for both players & non-players alike, & a hook for potential new players of the game.
I don't know if it will be rewarding at all for non players, I guess even the experience is different between the people that played the Solomon event (and just the excitement of finishing Babylonia and trying to get a couple more of extra bond lvls just before it started) and the ones that catched up later and just had it as a story chapter.
If you know the story behind the Grand Temple of Time: Solomon, the animators (either if it's still CloverWorks or Ufotable possible) will draw a freak ton of frames for *those* moments :DD
Oh god :((

still absolutely mindblowing how they made an anime from a game that's just a type-tapping into this
Bruuuh, if you remove the gameplay from the game, you still have over 11 hours of dialogue for Babylonia and that´s only 1 arc. The NA version has like 14 arcs + the prologues + the events (that are cannon too) and it keeps getting longer.
If you wanna be technical the original Fate/Stay Night was also a game.

I think what I loved the most in the animation of this anime was Gilgamesh's way of walking. It seems so simple in contrast with all these amazing battles, but it was so ... mesmerizing for some reason. A proud walk for a prideful king. And it was also amazing in the second ending. I love it !
Can we just agree that, the sound effects in this anime is just YYEEESSSS

Good to see a non-nasuverse fan's opinion on Babylonia. While "banging my head while they explain important stuff" comes off as ignorant cause Babylonia is the 8th chapter in a 9 chapter arc, and definitely one of the if not the best in arc 1, it can't be taken as a demerit to the show's enjoyment as Babylonia was funded from FGO's players who have played the entire arc and wanted to see it animated.

very informative. Thank you for making this!
There's a reason why everyone wanted to adapt this specific arc - it works very well in game. They definitely failed to communicate the number of townsfolk and the devastation of the Lahmu. In game, their arrival totally changes the overworld map, and Tiamut inches closer as you complete missions, which feels very ominous to play through. A lot of characters are totally extraneous, which is easier to forgive in a format which requires they add multiple new characters every arc of varying power levels. The jarring tonal shifts are a lot smoother in a VN format, with plenty of lengthy breaks for fights.
I was really disappointed, is what I'm saying, lol. I'd never suggest someone actually /play/ FGO, but you can look up the VN portions on UA-cam and get a pretty good idea of what it feels like.
And if we took this perspective i don't really feel good about grand temple solomon since it's basically just a big showdown if the amount of interaction getting cut it will ends up being terrible yet if they prolong the show to give this interaction a light it will ends up being boring idk its just my thought
@@aratabhist 100% agree. Tbh it kind of felt like a waste of time playing it at all.
@@theMoporter its not a wasted man trust me, if you follow the story there is more in the lostbelt Arc, well i just say its the build up of the story is being great so far, to be honest the Grand temple of solomon isn't the final big showdown, its only the begining of the true climax which is the Lostbelt Arc
Galih Gata I agree. Watch Solomon without playing the other singularities is like watching endgame when you just watched infinity war but even worse. So many viewers would be so confused on the roles of the servants and would just end up being a mere eye treat.

Yeah at first my reaction to you saying I dislike fgo's story was FIGHT but I guess their are not that many people who want to explore the Neutron Star that is the nasuverse lore and if you don't understand the concepts the story might seem annoying?
I mean I love both Camelot and Babylonia as stories too but I guess I liked Babylonia more because it was better suited for a game format
Btw here's a explanation door the concepts you mentioned if you are interested
Authority- basically what the god is a god off, Ishtar is the goddess of war and sex so she has a authority over those concepts.
Divinity- simple if u are a god or are related to a god u have divinity the more godly you are the more divinity you have.
The Evils of Humanity- these are the 7 evils of humanity that humanity can fundamentally not abandon as long as they are beings of wisdom. They manifest as beasts that are way stronger than any servants and require a fuck-ton of hacks and (usually) a grand servant to be beaten.
Their are also more than 7 of them because single concepts can have multiple aspects
The ones we know are-
1-Pity
2-Regression
3L- Pleasure(depravity)
3R- Pleasure (lust)
4- Comparison
We know some more beasts but we don't know everything about them so I have omitted them.
2 is Tiamat
3R has some chances of being animated but 3L has almost no chance being animated
Other 2 will probably appear somewhere in the anime
@Ethan Yuwono Yeah, he said it in one of the final episodes

Honestly, the way Babylonia showcases the NPs is beautiful, and really nails the idea that this is an embodiment of a Servant's ultimate achievements - what gives them their identity, an integral part of their legend, unleashed.
They are literally breaking the laws of reality to recreate their greatest achievement, the very thing that made them a _legend._
Can’t wait on the next 3 fate movies you might do
Gilgamesh is Bae! 👑
I really enjoy this anime, can’t wait for the Camelot one as well for the Solomon.
5:36 Swords?? Catser Gil is using staff and spells against him, except the flashback when he still uses swords.
Honesty, when this was first announced I wasn't expecting it to make me as happy as it did. It made me scream and shout about events that I already knew about.
Talking about Fate,
0:48 - 0:56 Though the characters are different, that part actually reminded me to Tournament scene in chapter 4 (or 5) of Fate/Requiem light novel.
Especially the beheading part.
Most complaints I heard about to Deen was mostly of the animation. We cannot forget that the anime has his age right now, but it was the one that introduced me to the series. For its time, the animation was good. But what would always stand out to me would be the soundtrack, following me for years after.
After that the ride through the franchise has been something of a roller coaster for me with ups and downs.
The next pieces I watched were Zero and Unlimited blade works. I love to watch fights that show the combatants personality, fast paced, but still allowing the viewer to see what the characters are actually doing. That is a also a bit of reason why I enjoy for example playing Tekken. That is why one of my favorite battles in the franchise from Zero up to this day. Unlimited Blade works also possessed incredible moments. But that is because Ufotable has been known to deliver action scenes. They had a few Tales of animes and some portrayed their expertise extremely well.
Going on to Apocrypha I was split. There were good moments and bad moments. The fights mentioned in the video were a spectacle for the eye. Karna's showed off his destructive power perfectly, showing how otherwordly Karna is, even for a Servant. The one between Atalante and Achilles encaptures their speed, reminding us that these two are without a doubt the fastest Servants Greece had to offer, ending it with a touching moment between a little brother regretting the end of his older sister, one he viewed as family. It would have made even more sense if they actually put in how he viewed her as his childhood hero thanks to Atalante's fellow Argonaut, Peleus, telling his son about her, but that is something entirely different.
But in the end, both fights would not make it on a top 5 list for me, as it is just that: A one time spectacle. It was to me like back in the days when I was a child and watching dragon ball Z again.
After that, last encore. I like Nero. She is pretty much my favorite Saber without contest. But just like Apocrypha, there have been good parts and bad parts. The drawing style itself I had no problems with and was some incredible choreography in the battles. But there were some parts that were just...off. It didn't help that the story of Extra is to some even more confusing than Fate Grand Order, which I can completely understand.
In that regard, I was incredibly surprised by Grand order. I myself do only know the bare basics of FGO. I cannot play the game for the life of me because of a hatred for Gacha and just not liking turn based RPGs in general. I am more of a Xenoblade type of guy. But I knew enough to understand what was going on and just read up on terms I did not understand. The animation was phenomal for me. Fast paced, capturing the attitude of the fighters, yet still allowing us to follow and see what is happening. There are countless examples and I can say with confidence that for me, Grand Order was one of the most enjoyable fate experiences I was allowed to watch.
Anybody who has read this wall, thanks. It must have been quite the climb XD Keep in mind that this is just my own opinion here at play.
@Ezio Fernandez Thanks for reading that text wall XD
even the sound effect is epic
Banging your head while they're trying to explain stuff important to the story... just comes off as ignorant tbh.
I mean you said it yourself there's a fight in every (almost) episode and while I wouldn't say no to more fights (one of the many highlights of a Fate series) what else is there but talking and dialogue? Most of these things like divinity and authority are VERY important to how characters interact with each other and say why one character who seems like they are overpowered af doesn't just blast another character off the side of the planet; it matters it's integral to the world and what characters can do.
They are laying this down as even though this is the seventh story essentially that could be told in the FGO series, nothing has come before it animewise that really does explain all this and if you aren't a FGO player you're gonna be left behind REAL quick without some exposition.
Ragging on the rules that they are LAYING OUT FOR YOU SO THINGS MAKE SENSE is like going into Death Note 30 episodes in then complaining that they're using Death Note's rules so much in the plot it makes you bang your head and say get on with some action.
If it bores you that much then I don't know what to say, can't all be brrrrrr action, and the stories of Fate are as much of a selling point as the fights themselves, I'd say at least on par, and to people I've had watch it that aren't versed in Fate lore like I am they still enjoyed it, much less I'd wager if they didn't have some in-anime exposition to help guide them.
Furthermore Babylonia is one of if not THE best storyline from Fate Grand Order. The whole reason it was made into an anime was because it was voted in a poll of game users and took second place. It is pretty much a love letter to the fans (made probably with our money) and so the fact it can and does stand up as a great anime by itself is a testament, it's really not made for non-players but anyone can enjoy it.
Gilgamesh is almost the protagonist and it's a real flip to see this character everyone hated who was a real asshole in the other Fate series, now this charismatic and dedicated king.
A man who has everything yet has everything slowly taken away from him - His only friend, his advisor and probably the only person who can keep him in check, his people, his kingdom, and the very thing he wanted; for humanity to flourish on it's own and away from the Gods. You see almost a broken man and see him in a different light, and this is what Fate is also great at; ideals and showing us different sides of the same person, reflecting the good and bad and different paths we take to be different people. Shirou and Archer for example.
If you aren't a fan of Babylonia (imo the best FGO story to date) then I don't know what you're getting from watching Fate at all, besides I guess wooo you young animators show them boomers!
You went full fanboy, you should never go full fanboy :v
While im with you on the second part of your comment, (even tho I completely enjoyed Gilgamesh in a really really different way than you)
I DO find that there's an argument to be made about all the rules and the explaining/exposition about powerlevels
FGO has this problem as any other big franchise that gets bigger than its original scope, the power creep and the fanservice, there are many times in fgo that the rules are broken, circumvented, forgotten, overwritten, "re-clarified", "corrected", "expanded", I've been a fan of the novel and lore since DEEN's version was still on TV and I've seen countless times in diferent media the rules laid by the novel and the nasuverse be broken just to leave place to "better" and new things to come, and many times the only difference I see between what happens sometimes in FGO and shitty nonsensical anime is that FGO writes and "excuse" to make it legal and not out of the blue.
The understanding of how a servant becomes and alter - the fact that Assassin servants are ONLY Hassans, old men of the mountain, the requirements for classification to different classes of servants, the nature of noble phantasms, the nature of how Alaya selects souls to enter the throne of heroes, the nature of the servant system, the extra classes, the contrived nonsensical power levels (OBVIOUSLY), what the stat blocks in servants represent, how important the hierarchy is for spiritual beings, those and many many many other things that are changed, forced, retconned, etc etc, just to keep the story going, and having new things to spend money on...
So, if you ask me as a fan if I find that really appealing, Id say... not much. And im DEEPLY interested in the nasuverse lore, I do get excited sometimes if the narration is well made and the exposition is on point and coherent to the systems laid before in the franchise, thats why Camelot is my fav order, it was refreshing to read Nasu again writing for Fate and it shows as he's the one that used to know most of his universe's rules...
@@Lozak I thought that the only hassan rule was something put on purpose in the Fuyuki system.
@@86Fallowcp that's what I heard too
Though I almost agree you're also coming at it from the standpoint of a Fate fan. An anime needs to be able to weave a cohesive story outside of its place in the grander scheme of things.
The singularity in the FGO mobile game is not accessible until you have completed all the things that lead up to it, the things that prep you with the necessary story knowledge yet the anime doesn't (and realistically, can't) do that. They also can't water it down however for the sake of the fans.
The Fate jargon, like divinity and authority are just annoying encumbrances to most people but Fate fans. I love Fate and I love those moments but that doesn't make anyone who doesn't ignorant.
@@Aldrnarii fact still stands tho that this is a project dedicated to fgo players and fate fans ... but they still made it as new commers friendly as possible
Nicely done. And Gilgamesh vs Enkidu was certainly one of the most spectacular fights, although it was actual staffs vs chains
You know what I hate the most about babylonia?
*The fight scene is so short*
And need more gilgamesh always more gilgamesh xD
@@FemkjeMW mot enough earrape from Gilgamesh
Not just the anination but the sfx they used is superb!!
It’s really not that hard to follow. Sure they throw a bunch of big words and concept but it doesn’t really matter for the basic story is just to get the grail and beat the big bad. Also I love how you describe servants as sex gods.
The problem for me is not that it's hard to follow, the problem is that it's boring to watch at best and at worst fells like they are reading the nasuverse wiki, I would know l also read the wiki for fun, but I don't want a wiki Page in the midle of the actual story
@@yurineri2227 Of course it's a problem for you because since Babylonia, just like many Type-Moon works adaptation isn't meant for newcomers for the series. Otherwise they would animated the works in order instead of jumping from one to the other. If they really want to made this for new guys, they would continue from [First Order] to [Hundred Years' War of the Evil Dragons: Orleans], which is the order of the story. Instead they skipped the 2nd to 6th chapter, adapting the 8th chapter (Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia), followed by adapting the 7th chapter (Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot) and finally the 9th chapter (Grand Temple of Time: Solomon)
Even if they animated things in order, Fate/Grand Order is not suppose to be your first Fate series. You should had at least some understanding of Nasuverse in general before getting into Fate/Grand Order. All the specific terms isn't being explained for that very reason alone. You're expected to go through other Fate/ series before getting into Fate/Grand Order.
@@gilgameshlfx7006 like a said i am not a new comer to the series and i don't have any problems following their explanations,my problem is that their explanations are not fun to read or watch, nasu has this problem since tsukihime and in my opinion that's his biggest flaw as a writer,i still overall really like his writing but he sucks at exposition
@@yurineri2227 His writing sucks at exposition? I think it's quite the opposite actually. The exposition is actually so vast, most of them need to be cut out from adaptation so it doesn't suffer from slow, dragging pace. For example, just look at Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works Caster vs Shirou + Archer. Compare the anime and the original VN. You will find that there's HUGE chunk of information missing from the anime.
@@gilgameshlfx7006 i am refering specificaly to his expositions for lore related stuf, don't get me wrong I love the lore of the nasuverse but alot of times their explanations suck(the explanation in the original fate/stay night vn for angra mainyu being particularly bad imo)
Hey canipa please also make a video on dorohedoro increadible 3d animation
The temple of time or solomon which is the final chapter of fate/grand order part1 surely will be a hype season when it's gonna be release soon though, it's been announced that they were animated with the same studio and i hope they wont use much CGI animations this time specially to goetia...
I pulled summer mordred while watching this video ty
WAIT THE PRODUCTION TEAM IS RETURNING FOR SOLOMAN!!!
My break down in f/go animation
Make several scene look good so that the hard risky scene that done used by cgi can be bearable
Yes, the Animation is absolutly stunning. BUT! There are also very extreme cases where they didn't put in as much heart. The most extreme example for me is the last Episode with King Hassan, where he several times looked like he didn't belong into the Series. He looked like a Cartoon-Thingy from Fate Stay Night 2006.
As for your gripes with the Story - it was made upon request by the Fans of the Fate Grand Order - Game, who all played that part already. Neitherless, i have to agree that understanding the "Conepts" of Fate is difficult and this story which had other things to focus on made it hard, if not impossible, for newcomers to understand them.
The Fate Grand Order game also had a terrible story.
@@AnimeReference only if you play the first five chapters. Still better than lot of console games story
@@shutup1037 he's obviously never got to Camelot nor Babylonia, nevermind Solomon and the Lostbelts. Where the main writers of Fate started making the storyboard for FGO after realizing how popular it can get, like Kinoko Nasu and Gen Urobutchi

When are we going to hear fabulous Frog-kun again? I miss it a lot.
I loved the Fate Babilônia anime, it's fun, full of action from start to finish, good storyline, beautiful! Beautiful traces, top characters, ambience and era of the gods, fantastic final boss I loved it! The powers of the Goddesses, Ishtar and Quetzalcoalt ❤️.
Guilgamesh and the servants, the struggles. The protagonists and the original SOUNDTRACK of babylonia are to be applauded! Is awesome, I watched it crying. Translated by Google translator
The moment I heard Merlin’s theme I really went YES SIR.
Now i know what i will watch
The most visually incredible show to ever exist.
The result of 200 years of animation indeed.
Now do you think you can make a video on OLM animation? They’re always striving for improvement.
I thought I was the only one who noticed Babylonia did lack of in between frames in some of their scenes yet they just proved even with the lack of in between they still managed to smoothly animated them. Kudos to all the staffs participated in Babylonia.
This is one of the few rare anime where every couple weeks, sometimes days, I'll go back to watch an episode or two with some of the fight scenes or just visually impressive scenes even though i normally don't really like rewatching stuff partially
Also as far as the story is concerned, this was made purely as fan service for the players, not getting the story of you haven't played the game and haven't experienced much or anything of the Nasuverse outside of Fate then you're guaranteed to be confused, the Camelot movies might be a bit easier to swallow because i don't remember that much terminology being thrown around in that chapter but the 9th and final singularity, Solomon, will definitely leave you confused if you haven't played the game because over half of the story will be meeting up with allies from the first 7 singularities and defeating enemies that got introduced back in the 4th singularity
In case you want a quick run down on the story (based on my assumption you know the story of Stay Night) then keep reading:
The game takes place on a similar timeline to Fate/Stay Night with one of the differences being, that one of the masters in the 5th holy grail war was replaced with the father of Olga Marie Animusphere, her father managed to complete the Heaven's Feel and wished for infinite funds to build the observatory Chaldea, what his servant was and wished for will be revealed in the last singularity
Within Chaldea, 3 projects were developed that Animusphere planned to use to preserve humanity from any threat, the demi-servant project to contain servants within living humans, the rayshifting which is essentially time travel except history will correct itself and erase you unless you can constantly prove your existance or the potential change to history is already too great (which creates a singularity in the first place) and lastly, the actual tool used to observe history, Chaldeas with the magical lens Sheva, how exactly those work would take forever so just look it up on the wiki
After the assassination of Olga's father, she becomes the new director and during that time, the first singularity appears in 2006 Fuyuki, the time when the 5th holy grail war took place, so they prepare to send out their elite team of 7 highly trained and talented masters and have the rest of the replacements stand by, except you because you fell asleep and made her mad, you get sent to your room where you meet the head of the lab team so to speak, Roman
After hearing an explosion you head back to the rayshift room where you find everyone dead except the demi-servant Mash, together you get rayshifted because of a malfunction and so begins the tutorial chapter, singularity Fuyuki which is technically the first singularity but the game calls the next chapter the first so it's kinda eh, anyways story kinda sucks until Camelot and the only noteworthy things you find out are that grand wizard Solomon was behind all this and he has sent 7 grails back into human history so evil individuals can go wild with their power though unlike the Fuyuki holy grail, these grails are rather weak and only really serve as a big mana pool for the holder, otherwise they could just open the path to the Root and become Zelretch 2.0
During all these singularities you always fight a demon god pillar which were essentially slaves or servants or something of the likes to Solomon, they become kinda irrelevant in Camelot and don't even show up in Babylonia (mainly because the age of gods the singularity is happening in, was before Solomon existed and the bad guys don't have time travel like you) and that's pretty much it up to Solomon, a bunch of events happen in between that are all canonical, some of which are really good like the Fate/Apocrypha event which continues the story of the anime and the Kara No Kyoukai event which was probably only there to bait people into watching those movies so they don't have to explain mystic eyes shenanigans in-game anymore lol
I liked hearing your opinion.
As a fgo player I liked the result of this adaptation and what it means. I started to see with low expectations and a lot of fear, because the animes I saw that season had disappointing mistakes one after another and I feared that my favorite singularity would end the same, but what I saw was really "good". It was not perfect because there were things that I feel did not adapt well but there were others that even surpassed the original material in my opinion.
Fgo Babylonia left me with a pleasant feeling and seeing that it was well received I am almost sure that we will be able to see the rest of the story animated, Camelot and Solomon are near, and after that Arc 1.5: Epic Of Remant and Arc 2: Cosmos in the Lostbelt surelly will come, each story with so many epic moments that I hope that everyone at least like one.
As someone who didn’t have any interest in grand order, I was floored at the brilliant animation and direction of this anime. This episode makes me appreciate it even more.
Seeing your name, I guess I can understand why you don't have interest in the game, Tohsaka-san.
>But I'm going to have to watch even more Fate/Grand Order anime.
Us, whove been at this for over 6 years: You get used to it...
8:26 Lmao turn on captions
FGO now is starting to bring things in Nasuverse together in one game not just Fate series but also starting to add other works as well
will you going to do animation breakdown of mha season 4 finale? Bones really put a good job in that episode. It was really close to movie quality. Of course other than animation pacing, song choice, camera angels etc were really good too.
Some of the concepts that are explained become very important in the story. Also, it's a habit of Nasu to make everything that happens and every ability have first a reason for existing, and second a connection the plot. Tiamat's mention of being a beast of humanity is important in the final arc, and it's authority serves to show why the goddess was a threat in the first place, and how it can be countered
5:40 it was chains vs staves.
i would like to know your opinion about episode 8 battle animation (ushiwakamaru vs gorgon)
Stunnnnning. The run cycle on Ushiwakamaru is an absolute highlight! And the poses, especially when Ushiwaka brings in the "shadow clones" is a thrill to watch.
Honestly Babylonia was what got me into Fate I would say. I would not have played FGO if Babylonia hadnt been absolutely kickass
Oh wow you can put the name of the soundtrack now?
So you're a fan of Jaguar Man. A man of culture indeed! Too bad they didn't animate her most awesome moment of transforming into the most badass Onee-sama.
Man I wonder if they'll animate the Epic of Remnant or Lostbelt chapters
Imagine seeing a collaboration work between Ufotable and Cloverworks
FINISH THE VIDEO BEFORE FURTHER READING THIS COMMENT!!
To summarize the entire video (correct me if I'm missing something):
- Fast Paced (but still enjoyable)
- Every angle has a purpose
- Every Character has their own unique fighting style (and are animated the best way possible)
- There is always an action scene in almost every episode
- Every frame has a story to tell
- There will be more :)
Can't wait for the solomon anime but I will wait for it cuz I want it to look just as good if not better
"it just works"

Sir, you should do animation spotlight of 1990s anime - the Golden Age of animation.
Movie: Princess Mononoke comprised of over 180,000 pages to produce a 2 hour film.
Gin Roh: the Wolf Brigade is equally as impressive.
Hell, even Card Captors Sakura. They rarely have repeated scenes.
Want me to set your expectations for you, in regards to Solomon?
Do you remember the scene in Avengers: Endgame where portals open and everyone joins the fight? FGO did it before them (in the game, it's represented as a raid battle), so we're just waiting for it to be animated.
You are absolutely selling it
@@TheCanipaEffect I am just as excited for the FGO Camelot movies (which happens before Babylonia).

they're going to do SOLOMON ? that's awesome!!
Dude, the moment I saw how Mash was fighting, I knew the anime was in good hands
i wish i can have the same view about this as yours
i'm having trouble identifying some scenes as good even if in technical side of things those scenes are the ones that animation otaku will consider as great, as i'm not that big of that kind of otaku myself i kinda consider it as minus than a plus.
I've only seen fate zero and I really enjoyed it. Watching every other fate series at this point seems daunting. I don't even know where to begin or what's truly worth checking out. You guys have any recommendations?
