Paul and Kathy: I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching your Missouri Katy Trail trip. I'm from Missouri! My parents grew up in Blackwater and Nelson which is about 15 miles west of Boonville. My dad was actually born in Sedalia. Our Missouri roots are in the Lake of the Ozarks where our Irish ancestors homesteaded. I'm one of seven kids, and we actually grew up in Kansas City. We were always visiting our grandparents and cousins all over central Missouri. We go back sometimes and just drive all around the countryside looking at the rural, magnificent beauty of Missouri. I just happened upon your Facebook page and checked out your postings. It's awesome to get to see America through your eyes. God bless you and Kathy. I have fond memories of you guys at Cornerstone Church.
Good to hear from you! MO was a good trip. We're heading off in a week to ride from Buffalo to Albany, and then catch the train to NYC where we'll ride it home in the sleeper car back to Atlanta. Now that I followed Kath into retirement, there's nothing stopping us from being fully adventurous. If you subscribe to the channel, you'll see the video(s) for the upcoming trips. I'm so excited!
We rode the Katy Trail in 2015, had a great time. Rode it west to east from Clinton to St. Charles. Great video, thanks! Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany; then the Cowboy Trail. 🙂
Nice. I did Kansas City to Clinton to Jefferson City and bailed due to rain. I had rain every day and the forecast was 4 more days so I decided to catch the train back to Kirkwood on Day 4 and avoid all the rain out to Machens. So this trip I was able to see St Charles, Hermann, Washington, etc.
Awesome! Save room for the food at the Hermann Wurst Haus - really good stuff. Another really fun stop along the way was the Meriweather bike shop and café right on the trail in Rocheport. Loved that place! Great to sit outside and get something to eat in the middle of the day
Thanks - I think these get better each time. I decided to stretch this one out into 18 minutes instead of a two-part but kept with the ~3min per day. I find the pacing of that works well.
Thanks! We had a great time. There's nothing like bike touring to get one's mind out of the day-to-day and into what I call the "cycle"-cadian rhythms of eat, ride, sleep, repeat.
@@AdventuresWithPaul I agree. It's therapeutic. I just got a GoPro recently but haven't had the time to upload but I will soon. I am in Central Florida
I live in st. Charles county and these bike trails are incredible but please wile on the trail please take a side trip to one of the 100's of wineries in the state
That's a good idea - next time I ride through I'll look into wineries. Even if I can't carry bottles of wine on the bike at least I can enjoy a tasting :-)
Thanks - hope we can get together and do another tour. Shannon wants to do RAGBRAI but next year is the 50th anniversary so I think it's going to be tough to get in with the lottery. Probably better RAGBRAI #51.
not for this trip, we ended in Sedalia and I decided to make this trip all in one video. I’m currently on the Ohio to Erie trail in (where else?) Ohio so stay tuned for that video to drop once I complete the trail. thanks for checking in
sure do! you can access the route at the bottom of this page www.cycleblaze.com/journals/mktduo/day-1-back-in-the-game/. at aroun 10 miles the trail goes off road onto bike paths
Started in Kirkwood Sep 18 and finished in Sedalia Sep 24. Looking at your channel, it looks like you've done a lot of stuff in the Atlanta area as well (we both have videos on Carrollton, Swamp Rabbit, Silver Comet, etc). How did you like the Katy?
@@AdventuresWithPaul exactly why I reached out, we did the Rock Island to Katy from KC to STLO from 10-15 September. Monument to Monument. I have a simple proposition, meet in the ATL, compare notes as you were the one who convinced us to try Carrollton, you even got credit.

When did you do the ride? It looks like we went through about the same time in the other direction.

Let's looks towards November - maybe we can do a day ride into town from Decatur or something
