Agreed! My cat Maddie passed in September and we rescued a new kitten in November. The kitten looks like Maddie's sister that also passed years ago so we like to think she sent the kitten our way. 🐾
A rescue is a great option and loving another dog is a way to honor Bailey!

I totally get the Post holiday blues! Even though it's still decorated in my house through January, the blues hit December 26. Even as a full grown adult, there's just something so magical about Christmas time.

Absolutely adopt a rescue dog! There are so many in need of a loving home. We have only ever adopted, and it is the most rewarding experience. Merry Christmas!

I have to share the story of my dog Kirby. It's one of those meant to be stories. My previous dog died around Christmas and I was so sad. A few months later I opened my Facebook page and his face popped up as free. A little black and white shih tzu 10 years old. It was 6 in the morning and I had to stop myself from calling until a better time. Well long story short, they brought him to me. He is everything to me five years later. 💓

Rescues are the best! Each dog that we have had over the years has been a rescue. I had the same “feeling” about our current rescue and she is wonderful. It was definitely a great decision for us after losing our 15yo rescued Beagle.
All my fur babies are rescued. They make the most awesome pets and there are so many out there needing loving homes.

I get sad, too, Crystal. I feel like all we have to look forward to is a long, cold, dreary Winter. Christmas is so much fun and most people are so jovial and happy. Then, when Christmas is over, things go back to the same old same old. It's nice to know that other people feel with way as well. I enjoyed watching you wrap your gifts. Thanks for a fun video.

Crystal, you always make me smile, except when I sobbed at Bailey’s passing. The chat was nice…I felt like I was sitting in the room with you and sipping hot chocolate out of MY Mrs. Santa mug while you wrapped gifts! 😂🤣😂. I am so excited at the prospect of you guys getting a new fur baby! If they don’t give you the pup, they are missing the boat! Good Luck!
Please, please rescue a shelter dog. When my 15 year old cat passed away, I didn't want to get another pet. My daughter, who was young at the time, wanted another cat. Long story short, we now have 4 shelter pets, 2 dogs and 2 cats, and I couldn't imagine life without them. It doesn't diminish your love for Bailey; it's a testament to that love. Shelter animals so desperately need someone to love them. As a side note, we also went through the home inspection process and it's no big deal. Your family will pass with flying colors.

So happy you are searching the rescues rather than a breeder. You can get wonderful animals there. I have 2 little dogs and I can't see myself without them.
Our dog died in 2008, and my husband is just now considering getting another. He really took her death so hard. We all did. Prayers for that wonderful dog. God’s timing is always perfect.🙏🏾
I get the holiday blues too Crystal, and it’s not just after Christmas. It’s after any special event , like birthdays, anniversaries…ect.
I’m looking forward to January because we’re getting all new hardwood or laminate flooring in our home.
I guess I just enjoy having something to look forward too.

Looks like Christmas at your house with all the snow....love seeing the kiddos trying to help u shovel the snow. . .such fun and good teaching lessons too

I enjoy watching you because you make us feel like friends. Talking to us as you do is so nice, especially for people like me who live alone and retired. Your parents must be so proud of you. Had fun watching your boys today too. First shoveling and then with the gifts. I'm glad you are looking at rescues and shelter for your next dog. They need good homes like yours.

I have finished shopping, but I'm waiting on some more packages so I can start wrapping and filling stocking .
We had 2 labs, they were 14 &15 when we lost them just a few months apart. We had spent so long in the geriatric dog stage it was so strange to be so free to do what we wanted. It took us 2 years to be ready for another dog. I think everyone is ready in their own time. I’m excited to see your new family member!

Get a rescue dog, you won’t regret it. We have had 3 rescue dogs and never looked back. They were all mixed breeds and I find they have fewer health issues because there is a lot of inbreeding in pure breads. My girls were 13, 13 and we still have a 15 year old. As long as you pick a dog that needs a loving home, your family and the dog will be winners. There is nothing like a pets love.💕
Love sitting and watching the kids help you❣️A recuse pet is so rewarding. I recused my Lady Grace in February. She is such a blessing and brings me much joy. I hope it all works out for you!!! It is so hard to move on. You will never replace Bailey, but you'll find all kinds of room in your heart for a new doggo! When it's right, it will happen. My story of how I found my Piper about four months after I lost my Colby was just a ton of circumstances lining up just right, and she us just perfect for me ❤❤

Glad to hear you are interested in getting a rescue dog. We have gone that route before and with success. Nothing ever replaces your pet that has passed but we are able to give love to another pet. I too have the post Christmas blues. I just get so hyped up getting everything ready and then it feels like the bottom drops out. I usually just get to cleaning and decluttering and that helps. 🎄🧑🏻🎄♥️

This is the first year in 30 years that I am completely ready for Christmas this early. Usually I am wrapping Christmas Eve. Feels great.

We live in SW Ohio and after Christmas I get the holiday blues BAD! It is cold, dark and blah outside. I find that setting a reading goal helps and I try to cram in as much reading as I can and we go to movies and museums to keep busy indoors.
I felt like I had a really good visit with one of my best friends!! My heart is happy!! I HOPE you get the new pup!! Like you said, if it’s meant to be, it will happen!! I hear you on the fishing!! My hubby is getting ready to retire at the end of the month & he is absolutely ready to have lots of time to go & get his fishing on!! He loves tournaments too!! 🎣🐟

Will be praying you get to adopt the little rescue dog. Animals are so innocent and they deserve all the love they can get. Their love for us is unconditional ❤️ Bailey is very much missed. I think she would want you to share the love you have with a puppy that needs a loving family.
I did away with bows years ago. This makes stacking/transporting the gifts so much easier AND everything ends up in the trash anyway 🤣
Great chat. I could sit and listen to you all day. I think getting another fur baby is great. When I lost my Maci I was so depressed my friend found me on in like 13 days. Adopted another pekingese Luci and she was the best thing that has happened to me. I have no family so my fur babies are it. The only sad thing is she was 10 they said but I gave had her 6 yrs. We just adopted our dog 2 months a go, he is a Golden Retriever and he was turned into a Animal Shelter. He is pure breed and we felt so fortunate to get him. He is our 3rd rescued Golden and we have never had any regards. Good luck, it it is meant to be it will work out.

Thank you, I just ordered 6 Sprout bags. LOL I have rescued my last 3 dogs, and I will never "buy" a dog from a breeder again. Rescue pups are the best. Cannot wait for the day your new friend arrives home, have patience-sometimes it takes a while to find the right one.

We’ve done rescue and rehoming. Our most recent is part I Havenese/schnauzer father, and mother was Bichon/ Havenese. He is 9mo , neutered, and potty trained. He is so fun and full of energy and we love him so much.

I totally understand being hesitant about getting another pet, you want to honor Baileys life and need time to move onto welcoming another new member to your family. But you’ll know when it’s right and to rescue an animal is a wonderful thing to do, they make the best pets!! Go with your heart!! Just ordered one of the Scout bags, I need this in my life 😁

Awe Crystal the right pup will be there in the right time. I think you would be a wonderful home for any pet. It was evident how much you loved Bailey. I miss having a dog so much but at this point in life, we like our freedom.

I'm the same way Crystal. I get really sad. I hate the let down of it being over. It just goes so fast! ☹ I'm excited that you guys are getting another puppy. The kids need a doggie to grow up with. Loved seeing your snow. We don't get that here. We went to see The Chosen Christmas Story at the theater a couple weeks ago. Super good! The kids would be bored because there's lots of christian artists singing for the 1st hour of the movie. Loved it though, gets you in the "true" Christmas spirit.
Bowling is a fun night. We take our grankids and they put up the bumper pads. I know you will find a new furry friend to love. Blessings to your family. So sweet

Crystal- I work for a rescue and I just want to tell you try not to be nervous about home checks. I can only speak for my shelter, but we really just want to make sure the dog will be in a safe, loving home. ❤️ You will have no problem! My Cavalier passed away 2 years ago and I took it so hard I never thought I’d get another dog. 😭 One day I was pulling into the parking lot of my shelter and one of our volunteers was walking a new dog (black and white beagle) I adopted her that day! She stole my heart! You will just know when it’s right! 😘

I enjoyed our time wrapping…you were on such a roll…I have some more🤣🤣🤣. The boys even got in on the fun. I think it would be wonderful to have a new addition to your family…never to replace Bailey, adding to the family. I will have my wrapping party of one…me tomorrow. I am still making ornaments for each gift…annual tradition that I started years ago. I think I just have a few more to make. As always I really enjoy our time together.
I know what you mean about not using gift bags. One year when my husband used a tons of bags - our kids revolted. They weren’t even that young. Too funny

What a difference with the snow! Just beautiful. I miss living in Toronto and the snow...well, a little bit. I didn't like the driving in it. I loved sitting with you while wrapping gifts. The depressive feeling in winter is called S.A.D. (seasonal deficit disorder). You are way too cute and fun to not start planning your Spring & Summer. I really enjoy the music you choose.
I also always made sure my daughters had the same number of gifts and now I do it for my grandchildren.
We always did rescue animals, when we first were married I did a breeder, he was a perfect puppy and we loved him. But I always said the next and future animals would be from the rescue, they have sad stories and deserve a better life of love and giving.
You will know when its time and Bailey would be happy to know you will be giving your love to another. 💞🐾
I still haven't finished nor have I wrapped the ones I have, this year is off because of just having my knee operation and hubby tried to help and you know how that is. 😂
I am loving this vlogmas series this year 👍. Even though my kiddos are older I still make sure they are pretty much even as far as the gifts go. 😂
