Hungarian football no longer enjoys the reputation it once did. And yet, football’s popularity within Hungary has never waned.
That nostalgia, that willingness to do better and be good again, has great resonance in the Hungarian conscience and Viktor Orban, the country’s Prime Minister of the last nine years, knows that better than anyone.

Hungary liberalized its market and 100% opened to the EU in 2004 after we became member. But the EU founds tenders, which arrived to the country won only by foreign companies, thanx to our leftie, home treator corrupt previous politicians. Until 2010 almost every profit stealed out from Hungary by big foreign companies, and over the promises, we found ourself scammed by the EU! When Orban steped into power (after 8 years opposition in 2010) he forced the multies and banks to pay extra taxes to Hungary, until the crisis not finished. After 2013 these taxes left out. Orban used Mészáros and few other players, to kept the EU founds and moved to hungarian origin companies, and minimalize the profit pumping out process, which was general before 2010. What was the consequence? The economy blowed up and since then growing like crazy. Mészáros used the EU money to revitalize the home actors and the profit turned back to the hungarian economy! This I call protectional economic policy!!! Of course globalists and multi-sponsored leftie NGOs hating this, and attacking Orban with every fake lies. But you know what? Hungarians voting to him, including me, because we know how and why the things going under the surface, and this misleading and manipulative reports not touching us, because we know who and why ordered! 🙂 (All the stadiums built on the last 8 years costed 1% of the one year GDP of Hungary, this is the "big money" about their crying, ridiculous)...
Orban much closer to Trump, as to Erdogan. Trump called him "twin" when they meet on two weeks ago in the White House. In Hungary the opposition have every right, and opposition media bigger than the conservative media. Orban is a christian democrat, not half dictator or not any other name as those bastards calling him, in Hungary the opposition calling him "01G", which mean "Orban is a sperm", and nobody treating them. Noone sent into prison because of his political view.
So Orban was in power 13 years, in opposition 16 years, he lost many elections then he rebuilt everything to win back. He is a big democrat fighter, and those who not allowing different opinions calling him "dictator", its a nonsense. They are the dictators! .. We will see, history will judge, but the fact that he is the best to Hungary, and the leftie puppets suffering, because they feel under their skin, that THEIR TIME ID OVER!

As a foreigner living in Hungary for 20 years, I can confirm this video to be fact based. Funny, this is about the football, but touches on the politics. My Hungarian wife often complains about Orban building stadiums instead of hospitals and healthcare service went downhill in the last 10 years very much. Exodus of healthcare professionals is a fact. Finding a good specialist is vey difficult and I hear of stories doctors brought from the province to treat some difficult cases, since noone in the capitl has the expertise needed. Average Hungarian struggles to make the ends meet, whereas in Poland (my native country) an average person does quite well and finding a reasonable job is not a problem. It is sad to see Hungary go down economically, when other countries in this part of Europe are doing much better. But keep in mind, this is not solely Orban's fault. Back in 2008 then Prime Minister Gyurcsany was recorded on the MSZP convention admitting that Hugary is in deep financial troubles as a country due to almost 2 decades of MSZP (former Communist party) rule. So, this corruption and cronism did not start with Fidesz. It worked like this during the Communism and it continued after the system change. When Orban came to power Hungary was already in deep shit and it was created by the MSZP rule. MSZP actually created conditions for Fidesz to win and Orban simply continued the same political style used by other parties. But even if a miracle happened and somebody else would win the election, the situation would most likely stay the same and another lucky guy would suck the country's resources for their own gain. My wife's opinion is that without some sort of popular uprising (similar to the Yellow Vests) there is no way this corrupt system will ever change and even my parents-in-law in their 70's share this sentiment. The point I am making is that the elites are corrupt all over the world and they do not show any care for the populations they rule over and this will eventually lead to some sort of uprising.

@@szobione Comparing the EU with the Soviet Union is bit far fetched. You might ask your parents and your grandparent about how the situation now compares to the Soviet era. My personal opinion is that eastern european countiers should not have joined the EU in the first place. @@jaaxtohenry3776 The fact that there were 'real' dictators before 90s does not weaken the claim that Orban, alongwith many other right wing leaders, is on the way to become one. I respect your experience under a totalitarian rule, but it is not a reason to underestimate what these guys are doing. I lived two years in Hungary. Orban has been unifying the political power for a while now. Let me add to the video, which I think does a great job in explaining the situation. Orban not only resembles Erdogan, he works with the same people as well. Adnan Polat, who is a corrupt businessman whose construction business made its fortune under Erdogan's rule via corrupt relations with Erdogan, is a close friend and collaborator of Orban. Furthermore, as an example of how football is related to these corrupt guys, Polat used to be the president of Galatasaray, the team I support in Turkey. There are many more resemblances and relations between the two, to such a degree that I felt a sad feeling of being at home during my time in Hungary.
Leaders do not become dictators at one night. Especially nowadays. They become dictators by using a populist, nationalist, and nostalgic rhetoric to overcome democratic institutions in their country. So, yes, there are semi-dictators.
FYI, I am not a leftist and I don't think labeling people without responding to their claims is a valid way of reasoning.

@@MrMmnngghh na, Hungary is incomparably worse. Imagine having a social welfare system where one's eligibility for unemployment benefit is only given if they're already in the "public work" system. This in practice means that in rural areas town mayors deciding who gets the job to tidy his garden flowers or plant his crops. Feudalism-similar power situations between the different classes. Now, in these rural areas the same Mayor has a very high leverage to pressure the town's citizens into voting for FIDESZ, which they can monitor through the very shady voting system. If one doesn't vote for FIDESZ, they won't get the job, and they'll starve.
One example of how they can monitor voting in these sectors: since there's no pay, and only those eligible to register in a certain area can apply for counting the votes and monitoring the voting procedure during election day, in some poorer rural areas where almost every citizen is dependent on this feudal-type system, there are only Fidesz-related vote inspectors. In these towns it's also very common, that the people with leverage monitor who voted for what from the town's pub. One might ask how is this possible with secret voting in the 21st century. Well, let's imagine you're also living in a poor rural town like this. Lets imagine your monthly salary is a little bit shy of 150 Euros. That's when you were lucky during the month. You have no money to move elsewhere with better opportunities, nor enough human capital to be worth anything on the job market. You were born in poverty, and that's all you've ever known for your whole life. There's a pub in your town. Inside that waits for you the usurer (loan shark, but entirely illegal, but inevitably existing in these regions. They have huge power inside their communities). You enter the bar, he gives you a heavy stare and an empty envelope. He tells you to put that in the urn, and bring out another envelope from inside, with the voting sheet inside it. You do what he asks. You take this envelope back to the bar, he takes the sheet out, puts the cross next to FIDESZ's name, puts the sheet back in, and asks the next guy standing beside you to drop this envelope in the urn and take another envelope with the sheet back to the bar.
It's pretty clear now, that with this method, for the cost of only one vote, the people in power (whom are always FIDESZ related, but that's another story) can monitor every vote, and thus can basically ensure that every single individual eligible to vote puts a tick next to FIDESZ's name.
Fidesz has informally and formally created a myriad of other informal or formal similar mechanisms, which ensure that they get as many votes as possible. This, paired with an election system which was also created by them with their first 2/3 majority back in 2010, and which heavily distorts towards the biggest minority (some call this a "winner takes it all system"), with which they can get 2/3 majority in parliament with only 40% of the votes, makes Hungary a pseudo multy-party system.
Hungary has a hybrid government. It takes away all your rights, but still tries to rely on the same legal system to sustaim it's ideological support.
TLDR: Hungary's voting system is fucked up. Hungariam society is also fucked up. Economy? Fucked up. So what if you are Hungarian? You're fucked. Even if you don't think so.
God, how I hate to love my country. But Budapest is my only true home.

And why should the football academy be in the town where Puskás was born?!

    • @andrew7taylor
      @andrew7taylor 3 роки тому +1

Pointing out that Puskás has nothing to do with the team named after him isn't biased. It's a fact.
The biased is you who goes on the offensive when you think your Dear Leader is attacked. If he's an adult, he doesn't need you to defend him, much less in the comments of a youtube video.
For the record, after Puskás and his wife returned to Hungary, Szöllősy György (the editor of the aforementioned Nemzeti Sport and a servant of Orbán) managed to charm the elderly couple while Puskás himself was suffering from Alzheimer's and they signed over all of their rights to curate Puskás' memory to him.
As a result, Puskás' name is used to prop up Orbán's pet project despite him never being near Felcsút. But the club where Puskás actually played from age 10 to 29, Honvéd is legally banned from using his image. They can't even sell a T-shirt if their most famous player ever is on it.
If you don't think that's fucked up, imagine the same situation if Gyurcsány, Karácsony or somebody like that orchestrated it. Would you not think the situation as ridiculous?
