What Roy Keane achieved in football is far more impressive than what BOD did in rugby and that’s no disrespect to him. The sheer number of people who want to play top flight football in England is nuts, Keane dominated over there for 12+ years and has the medals to show for it. The difference in scale of the sports gives it to Keane imo
People have quickly forgotten how impactful BOD was from day one as a test player. Ireland were in the wilderness when he came on the scene and he singlehandedly made them a team to contend with . He was a superstar from his test debut all the way to the end. Sexton was a very average player in his twenties and developed into a wonderful player in his thirties, helped by a far better team than BOD had at the start of his career.
You are forgetting the powerhouse that was Keith Wood. He carried a far worse Irish team for years. BOD was the better player, he’s arguably the best northern hemisphere player ever. But Wood laid the first bricks for the Irish revolution
@@oliverhunter9495 Agreed, he was a true warrior . Probably the most lethal hooker I have ever seen on the hoof and a proper darts man at line out time
Guys I agree with ye both on how great BOD and Wood were, but to say they did it single handedly it so disrespectful to some of the brilliant players they played with at international level. Ye forget that both played for Ireland in the Lens debacle ; losing to Argentina in the World Cup? It was under Warren Gatland that the revolution occurred , when he wasn’t afraid to make wholesale changes and back youth.
BOD is the greatest in terms of his ability and talent. Like his quantifiable attributes you have to say him. But Sextons impact in terms of reading the game and calling plays and that passing into the Leinster and Irish teams, has done more for the game here than anyone else has even come close to. To me, sexton has had the biggest impact on improving the team and the game in the country, so I would call him our greatest ever. However if you see me in person I will deny I ever said this, ROG and O Connell all day 😂
New Zealand achieved more with Cory Jane compared with Jona Lomu... The argument of judging individual players on teams honours is absolute brainless nonsense
BOD single handedly carried the team with him from his debut (think early 20’s). Ireland were a very ordinary team that was capable of real magic when BOD played. Sexton was part of a proper functioning team in his latter years and only really developed into the star we know in his thirties.. BOD had no quiet years….Sexton was a very ordinary player for the first 7-8 years of his career.
@frostysfreeway2320 disagree with that, it was the Munster pack of the noughties who made us really competitive as a team but BOD was the cutting edge we needed. It's also about the position, you have a lot more responsibility and control over a game at 10.
Ahh yes, Brian o'driscoll. Best Irish player ever. Still he never won a world cup (one player or play does not make a good player. As a Saffa, o'Driscoll is a ledgend of the game, but Sexton did more for you guys and the way he brought that team together.
Neither did Jona Lomu... So by your brainless logic the greatest player in history shouldn't even be considered anywhere in that conversation because his team weren't able to win more trophies. You're not the sharpest tool in the box. Saffas have no respect for the game and the spirit of the game, constant classless braindead bashing disguised as humility.
O Gara. Also the greatest pundit. Slammed SA for an easy path to their win in 2019, and tipped Ireland to trash SA and win 2023. Then he went to groumd. He should remain there
Sexton dropgoal against France was the best individual piece of skill by an Irish rugby player ever. Throwing the ball over hickeys head was mickey-mouse.
As a very proud munster man may I say I 100% agree
I feel like BOD is 13 in the greatest XV of all time?!
From a Kiwi
He's your best ever
Top bloke as well
From NZ , O'Driscoll is Ireland's Greatest Player.💯👍
Irelands top try scorer by the age of 23 says it all.
Best Irish sportsperson period!!!
Conor McGregor
Katie taylor
Roy Keane
I don't think he could have periods.
Paul O Donovan, no one comes close! And who ever says McGregor, I hope you choke on your breakfast in the morning.
I sat in a pub in killarney on my own watched him scored 3 trys against France . Out of no where. The pub today will be dull for a French game
Bod by mile. To me best Irish sportsperson ever. Despite his banging drums👀

Totally agree!!!
Totally agree. He was amazing.
One of the greatest
Forgot Willie John McBride and Keith Wood in his list
Great players ❤
He named who he could on the spot. I'm sure if he sat down and had time to think about it, those players and several others would have come to mind.
Is that his brother?
What episode was this so I can listen to it in full?
BO'D no 1. Keith Wood no. 2
Best ever and an absolute gent.

@@derekdevaney2242 Yes very valid point.. Gatland deserves some Kudos for his contribution
@@oliverhunter9495was probably yes until the arrival of Saint Anton who is a freak a god in a man suit he has raised the bar comfortably
I totally agree, but another man who rarely gets mentioned is Willie John McBride, in my opinion Irelands second greatest player ever.☘️
My favourite was the( jack Russell) stringer cause he was some player and showed everyone that even small chaps could do damage
People who say a different player is better have just forgotten just how good BOD was

All time lion great aswell
BOD was great but Sexton did more to make both Leinster and Ireland better! We achieved more with Sexton!
New Zealand achieved more with Cory Jane compared with Jona Lomu... The argument of judging individual players on teams honours is absolute brainless nonsense
Somewhat right. Sexton had a better team to play with. BOD dragged a lot of average players with him.
No doubt BOD had the best individual skills but for me, for his overall impact on a team, it's Sexton

100 per cent agree. By a 100 miles
Imagine peak BOD in the present side? 😮
What he at theses days is he in coaching?
Tv
Apparently Jack Kyle was pretty insane
100% agree.
If he was so great where are his World Cup medals? Good in Mickey Mouse games but give me Willie Duggan any day.
Fergus Slattery, Willie John McBride
Just imagine BOD and Mike Gibson as a centre partnership!
Ahh yes, Brian o'driscoll.
Best Irish player ever.

Sexton would not exist without Brian
Agree!!
O’Driscoll
Keane
Katie Taylor
Top 3
Brian all day long. Genius.
For me O’Driscoll also.
Not only is he Ireland's greatest player.
I believe he's the best 13 in the world.
No one can compare.
Just my opinion.
O Gara. Also the greatest pundit. Slammed SA for an easy path to their win in 2019, and tipped Ireland to trash SA and win 2023. Then he went to groumd. He should remain there
Agreed.
Agreed☝️
By the end of his career could Sheehan be in the mix?
BOD almost always gets selected by ex-professionals in their international dream team, Sexton is regularity omitted.
BOD is the only one who is ever mentioned in a world XV team.
There isnt anyone close.
Yea there isn’t really an argument Brian O Driscoll was just meant to play rugby from the pitch he somehow always had a Birds Eye view.
Dunner is correct.. bod 1 and its not close
Like be in an Irish team that beat the All Blacks
It’s hard to pick all Irish players r legends
It’s Jean Kleyn. Only Irish international to win a quarter final.
Keith Wood
Sexton is close. I'd personally go Keith Wood out of love. The Raging Potatoe!!!!
Best by far
Ronan ogara 💯
I'll argue this
O Gara was great but he wasn't a rounded player. Anyone with such poor tackling techniques cannot be up there.
WILLIE JOHN MC BLOODY BRIDE NEVER GOT A MENTION?????
Whoever lost the most WC qf's is your best player.
Na bondee Aki for me all the way
Kieth Wood enters the chat 😂
Sexton dropgoal against France was the best individual piece of skill by an Irish rugby player ever. Throwing the ball over hickeys head was mickey-mouse.
easily the best..
O' Driscoll easily irelands best player
Johnny had a better rugby brain . Brian had better skills
BOD was definitely the best Irish player of all time and the best 13 to ever play the game.
Mike Gibson was better.
Will we be say Hugo is are best all time player
He was unplayable in the early 2000nds
Mike Gibson was better but played against better teams.
Bod was " him "
Willie John? How many Lions tours?
Doing fancy tricks does not make you a great player!
Yeah O’Driscoll was the best.
Tony Ward was the best ever.
Tony ward
Dricco was the best
Nahhh Jonny sexton. Please see squidge rugby tribute video as a reminder why this is wrong
Amazing video but BOD is geniunely a whole level above sexton. Like comparing Scholes to Messi.both awesome, one on his own planet
Sexton played with much better Irish teams.
only great when you guys eventually win a world 🌎 cup I don't believe that they never will just like France
...and not one of them can get Ireland out of a quarter final 😂 🇿🇦🏆🏆🏆🏆
SA are a joke in the Rugby Championship. Couldn't even win it last year when NZ were in a mess 😂
