2022 two new Rep judges on NC State Supreme Court reversed previous decisions that kept map very fair making heavy gerrymandering not illegal and abandoned role of state courts policing gerrymandering. Now NC ranks up with Texas for worst maps.
The Court's ruling on the abortion medication is a smal win because the ruling was based on standing. Someone with standing could bring another case today to start working it's way through the courts. A big win would be that Roe v. Wade be overturned or Congress to pass legislation.
Events planned in Los Angeles, Detroit, Ohio and Tennessee have been canceled in recent days for different reasons, with some citing "unforeseen circumstances" while others mentioned rising costs. Eye rolling!
If u win on appeal you do not have to go thru another trial. Once the higher court speaks thats the end of the case. You cant be tried again once the appeals court reverses the verdict to not guilty. Thats double jeopardy.
When I went to my Dr.'s office this a.m. (6/14/2024) there was a sign on the receptionist's desk that said their office will be closed June 19th in observance of Juneteenth Celebrations. But my state, New Mexico, is a blue state, so that explains a lot. Unfortunately our Hispanic and Native American populations far outnumber Blacks here, so it will probably be a small celebration, but an acknowledged and important one, nonetheless.

Personally, as a woman, I think any legislation that supports women's health care is a big win.

Appeals courts rarely reverse to "not guilty"; they may grant a new trial, which is not double jeopardy. (Not sure which case you're referring to.)
