Loved watching this, I worked for a Ford Retail dealer as a weekend job in my teens, funnily enough not far from Hucknall, knew Central Motors well, they had a good reputation. Brought back many memories. Thanks for uploading these, appreciate it.
They talk of this idyl that rarely exists. Recent example, my daughter arranged appointment to test new Seat MPV. At arranged time no-one knew where the salesman was; when he eventually turned up he couldn't find the keys. Daughter went walkabout and found car, unlocked, with keys in and blocked in by several others. When salesman checked the car had no fuel in it so had to go off and get some. You guessed right, she didn't buy it.I arranged to test a new Audi A8 on the salesmans' day off and so his colleague met me to hand over the keys. The experience was a complete let down as the car hadn't been prepped and came complete with all factory protection; there was no feeling of luxury and so I bought one at another main dealer.
Great weekend ford fix 👍 my old man had a new escort popular in white just like the one in the video:the word cheap springs to mind. Wasn't a patch on his older shape ghia he'd traded it in for happy days 🕶
What a fascinating insight into the second hand car market through Ford at that time. I know this is for training purposes, but is very reassuring as the garage genuinely seems to pride itself on it's ability to give the customer a well prepared reliable second hand product. Thoroughly enjoying these wonderful uploads.
Why is the woman who narrated this so surprised at everything 😂😂 the tone of her voice, makes it sound like somebody is tickling her, or giving her a little electric shock at the end of each sentence !!
I love this, fun to see how when buying a car back then was fairly simple. Now it’s buy it on this, this, balloon payments, bend over pants down payments and lease, rental. In the 90’s it was sold to you buy a lady wearing your mums living room curtains and a man in beige with a beige monotone voice. Now it’s shouty ads, click a mouse a van turns up, you’ve not even let your sofa go cold it’s on your driveway. However it was also in the time of the cut n shut so when Mrs Miggins rear ended you potentially you could be seeing your shopping and your behind overtake you. Such good times. 😊
Can relate.... my step dad was a used car salesman (Patturn cars in corsham then Lacock in Wiltshire if curious) during the late 70s to early 2000s. Even the logo was of the old mini metro lol
Back in the days when Ford sold real cars. Not the endless parade of identical, overpriced, dull as ditchwater crossovers they burp out these days. Especially when they recycle the model names from older models that were actually good. The Mondeo is gone, the Fiesta is gone, the Ka+ is gone, and I'm hearing very worrying rumours that the Focus will be meeting the guillotine shortly.

Retail - a stairway to heaven!
At the 11:48 mark, check out that 32.4% interest rate. Damn, that rate would make loan sharks blush.
This was amazing. So proud of his card system 🤣
Great video - talk about polishing a turd!

Wonder what become of the dealers and their staff. Gordon must be at least in his late 70s now. Don't know about Laura
I sent this to the Witney dealer on Facebook. They were beside themselves. So happy. They’re all still live and kicking and running the joint.
Thanks for doing that. We've done it a few times over the years to dealers who have featured in these old videos and it's always well appreciated!
@@rovr no problem. I’ve spoken to a few people from your videos
Check out the APR’s 34% and we complain at 9% now.
