  • The Lenormand cards are a set of 36 oracle cards that are read in a way that is very different from the Tarot. They are becoming famous all over again as more people are bringing these divination cards back to the world stage. A lot of this interest comes from being able to quickly learn and answer specific questions about everyday life by looking at simple, familiar pictures. Lenormand readings are often much more direct, correct, and useful than Tarot readings. Learn how to predict problems and chances, describe people and events, compare options, predict outcomes, and even answer yes-or-no questions.
    We'll talk about:
a brief history of Lenormand cards
    what each card means
how to approach the cards by topic (money, love, people, job, and which cards are good and which are bad).
    - how to put the cards together to figure out what they mean.
    - different card layouts, like the 3-card, the 9-card, and the Grand Tableau
Papa Gee gave this Lenormand card class at aromaG's Botanica in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a cut-down version of the 90-minute class that was taught before. In a class for beginners, each card's main meaning is taught. Due to lack of time, it does not give the full meaning of each Lenormand card. I think you should keep learning about Lenormand and the many other things each card can mean. Also, there are many more detailed ways to read the cards than could be taught in a 90-minute class.

I discovered Tarot in 1978 and have never stopped collecting decks and reading books. When I was first buying Tarot decks from a paper catalog by mail order, I bought a Lenormand deck, too. The cards had verses on them and the sheet that came with the deck did not explain how to use them. I considered them to be a game but kept the deck all these years because the four corners of each card were gilded. Recently discovered the explosion of Lenormand decks and instruction books and bought quite an assortment. One book in particular gave so many possible meanings for each card that it was useless. Then I found one of your videos and bought your book: Lenormand Basics. I would recommend it to anyone just starting with Lenormand. The card meanings you provide are classic and concise; the perfect introduction to the cards. I’ll save the thick books for later. Thank you.

I love your store and just ordered for the first time from you guys and got the good mojo lenormand deck and I'm definitely going to visit the store bc I have been wanting to for so long and am only like not even 2 hrs away. Thank you all for your videos. I tried looking for a new customer promotion code but couldn't find one. Thank you again. I would love to have one of those lenormand books to help one day.

Every site I read gives different meanings for the cards, I’m so confused. I thought they all had very clear, simple meanings that are the same across the board. For example, you said the Book means learning and going back to school, but others say it means secrets. You said the Cross is sacrifice, I read somewhere else it is the card of grief and bereavement. Another is the Whip, which I read means abuse and arguing, but you said it is about whipping something into shape. I want to learn the cards but I don’t know who is correct with the standard meanings. I understand like Tarot that you’re meant to use your intuition, but also I thought Lenormand have more definite meanings than subjective ones.

Would be interested to know what sources gave those other meanings. We try to stick with their original meanings

@@AromaGs the first thing that pops up on Google when you search “whip meaning lenormand” is abuse, punishment and aggression. Where do you find the original meanings? Is there a definitive Lenormand meaning book that came with the cards when they were first made?

The issue here that you're not taking into account is that the *context* of the one question being asked for that reading at that time is what determines how each card is to be interpreted. Under one context, the Book can be secrets, yes, but now let's say we ask about someone's schooling. Now the Book becomes a book report/project or studying or doing research on something. The CONTEXT of the question is what is going to tell you how to interpret the cards. There are many different contexts, which means there are many different interpretations of the cards to fit the context of the question at that time. Every card has many different layers of meaning depending on what is being asked. Read Rana George's The Essential Lenormand. It is the Lenormand Bible and explains the importance of context and then some. Hope this helps!

@@AromaGs I just came across this also. There's a female reader on YT that said that the Whip means physical abuse and that it means a bad person who's abusive, the 'closed' Book card means secrets, Birds means gossiping or talking about someone, House can mean family or your physical house. A sample reading I also seen online elsewhere came out with a 3 card which was an answer to the question; I have a crush on a guy and I thought things were going really well and then suddenly he won't talk to me...what happened? The cards in the example that could have been pulled were Birds - Mountain - Heart and her interpretation was that there was gossip about her and it created a block to his heart towards her. When asked, "who was gossiping?", the card pulled was House. The reader interpreted that to mean it was someone in his family that was telling him not to see her anymore, or that they said something about her that made him question continuing to consider her as a potential love interest.
I don't know if that is correct or not, as I am just learning this.
It is confusing as I would like the correct meanings and not something that someone decided would be the correct meaning because they are influenced by tarot or oracles.
Although Lenormand is direct and the meanings of the cards proper shouldn't change, I think there's too many resources that are altering them.
Aside from your book, others recommended were from Rana Hexe (has a personal story for every card in her book), Caitlin Matthews (influenced by tarot), Andy Boroveshengra (heard he puts a more shadow or dark meaning to the cards), as the top 3. Then there's Alexandre Musruck (who I found out is influenced by Catholicism and adds angels and Christian themes to the deck even though it doesn't have those originally). There's others but it will get too weighty.
      So what do you do?
I can certainly learn these cards easily enough with the meanings, as I already feel by looking at the pictures I have the simplified meanings. As a part time tarot reader professionally and oracle reader for myself, I was never able to fully memorize the tarot which I found frustrating and so solely relied on intuition and my medium abilities and used the tarot as a supplement. I found the tarot to be wishy/washy and felt it was very passive aggressive and didn't tell you the full story or would put the issue back on the quertent. Meaning; if I asked if I should quit my day job it would say something like, 'well you are unhappy and have some struggles with the co-workers not respecting you (okay I already know that), and you could look for another job and you would be happier working somewhere else, but you have to decide if you want to take that risk'. While Lenormand could say, 'your co-workers are not nice, so a new job will be better for you and you will be financial stable and happy'. or it could also say 'your coworkers are jerks, you can't afford to quit, so ignore them and keep doing your job because you are good at it'.
Way more solution based and direct rather than floaty and wishy/washy.

The cards used in the class aren't the White Mojo Lenormand - they are traditional Lenormand cards which you can find a very close deck here: www.aromags.com/product/grand-tableau-lenormand/. But, if you're referring to the ones used at the very end of the class, unfortunately they are out of print.
