You were verrry careful and polite, and others have already given the context for why your comments re: energy level and execution were on point, so I just want to say it's great that you're honest when something isn't working for you or could have had more impact. I love how detailed you are; you're not bashing, you're extending a group of professionals the professional courtesy of serious analysis. Kpop fans can be a scary crowd and it leads some reactors to just gush bout EVERYTHING, but like, I can do that on my own. I love seeing real critique both because it's interesting and because when there are "wow" moments, they feel so much more earned/genuine. I'm glad this popped up in my recommended and I will be checking out more of your videos!
Your comment truly makes me feel so supported and encouraged. I totally understand the realm of analysis and the subjective/objectiveness from both sides that comes with it.... I told myself when I started doing these that I have to stay objective because that's the whole point of maintaining integrity as an educator... To be open minded to other perspectives, always keep growing and to help bridge the gap for others! It truly means a lot to hear this from you and I'm hopeful to continue this journey in this way!
Turn around was super fast, they were prepping this comeback while promoting their last one, and it really shows. They did well with what they had but it was pretty obvious this was a push from the company to release another album before the year was out. I would recommend checking out the stage performance of Megaverse because it seems a lot more polished than this. Some other suggestions would be their Domino, Maniac, Thunderous, TA, God's Menu (TMA Version) dance practices and their S-Class VMAs performance
They have a LIVE performance of this posted from the Dome Tour. It’s on the Stray Kids page along with Leave. It’s much more polished with better camera work. You may enjoy checking it out. This was also the FIRST performance of this song, before the album was released or the MV. It was a special spoiler for the Tour event. It was probably a rushed job for the dancers, and this was the camera marking rehearsal. They don’t usually release these under the heading of “Dance Practice”.
You might be interested in the 5-Star Dome Tour docuseries episode skz just dropped on their channel today. It follows the behind the scenes leading up to the concert where Megaverse was performed, including them learning the dance and practicing. A good third of the video is focused on Megaverse specifically. You don't have to react to it on camera necessarily haha (it's long) but I thought you might be interested in seeing it on your own time. Thanks for doing these videos! As a non-dancer, I find the detailed breakdowns really interesting.
I definitely think this was just a run through during the prep for their concerts in October, they just happen to decide to release. And with the name tags I’m guessing it’s for the camera crew. Considering they do hours long concerts with a lot of powerful choreos it’s not surprising they don’t go full out during rehearsals maybe a day before or even on the day, Since this appears to have been recorded at the dome venue). But I agree not an excuse really for the dancers. Just wish we got this view for the live performance. No dancing btw in the MV. I think you’d enjoy their domino dancepractice ❤
I can agree with this! It was interesting seeing the bibs here because of what you said groups normally only wear those to mark through shows and not for choreography takes. I feel like I will be looking at this group a lot more in the future!
@@jess_holyfield they did record this song and another one (leave) during the concert to release on UA-cam. With all the zoom ins and so on. So like a show recording. (But I’ve seen behind the scenes stuff before where they’d wear the bibs during concert rehearsals. So maybe for the camera crew during the show for the big screens in the venues 🤷🏻♀️)
I truly agree with the expectation for the dancers esp because this probably might have been the best monitoring shot of them on stage 😅 it's different from being at the studio, where based on its origins is less about the stage but just abt the dance. They do have the actual live stage for this, but it has cuts(which mightve hid the chaos going on). But i guess it might give off a more performative look... Oh and honestly, it mightve been because of the time table the company did which lessened its quality. This was for their special unveil and was just a few months after their last album. A lot of fans were also bothered by the short span of the two albums which demands quick learning of so many choreos esp with more dancers than theyre used to having on stage. They really are fatigued despite enjoying the new music they released, they just worked too hard to meet expectations that needs time.
You should really check out their dance practices for Lalalala or s-class, I‘d be really interested in what you think. I also felt like their movements here were muted, they seem tired and definitely aren‘t giving their absolute best. I really love how honest you are, a lot of other reactors just gush over everything and it seems forced.
Yeah i also feel that dancers mistakes and underwhelming performance didn't justify the dance practice video. But stray kids did their job as a artist really good. Your analysis is really great. You should also see their gods menu dance practice video. That shit is epic from my perspective but as a dancer that video will provide you the variety.
I have plans on doing a full marathon of this group in the very near future! Because I can also agree that seeing more of a variety from them would be very beneficial for me to see their recent work with better context! I truly appreciate your feedback!!
you're forgetting that they're also singers not just dancers and they need to reserve some energy to breathe and actually sing live that's what Stray Kids are known for THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES, unlike other artists who usually just lip sync and put their all into dancing, no hate tho u do u.
Hey there. Thank you for taking the time to watch and respond. I 100% agree with you regarding your point, and from 8:30-9:34 of this analysis specifically, I do state your exact point of Stray Kids are singers and need help with presenting the energy needed to carry a track like this ,and the dancers are underperforming to make that a success with this video in isolation. I did request to see more footage of this routine in hopes that I got to se it executed with adrenaline but nothing was found that would help. At this point I know that they are capable of performing WAY more in terms of energy compared to this, and others who have commented on this video have also stated that this does give the impression that they are doing a simple run through and not applying themselves as much as they do with other Dance Practices. Thank you again and look forward to seeing you in other analysis that get posted!

Domino has been coming up A LOT from other viewers! I definitely feel like I will need to check them out!

That makes so much more sense. Thank you for the clarification!
I love listening to professionals analyze and critique their profession. Very interesting watch!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! Means a lot!
I do think that this is a marking run through for camera placement since they are wearing name tags!
That's what my gut was telling me as well!
You’re so respectful and well spoken I enjoyed your take on this
Your words are so encouraging! Truly means a lot! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!

So many points spot on here! I’m hopeful that they are able to healthily promote and work without as much fatigue in the future!

Thank you for the support here! I have a feeling they will be a group I marathon in the future so I know I will get to those eventually!
I really liked this choreography. It's been a long time since the last time skz presented a choreography that I really liked.
I really see so much potential in this choreo!
I NEED MORE SKZ PLS
I hope to be able to look more at their work in the future!
I love your analysis on the choreography. Please react to their dance practice and live performance of Domino. Thank you.
I definitely have it in my plans to continue reacting to this group! Hopefully even some of the recommendations you suggested!
My favorite is Thunderous
I've heard of that one! Excited to possibly take a look!
