Really fair reaction, Kevin. I really appreciate your thoughtful and respectful analysis of this potentially inflammatory issue. I was just talking to people about this topic today at the expo. Free handling hots like cobras is awesome, but it won't end well.
Collaboration with Kevin when? Think it'd be cool for you guys to go over something like the history of BP morphs (even though I'm not a fan of them) or something like that. You guys both are fine examples of what our community is. Keep up the awesome content!
Clint's Reptiles when is your Red Blood Python video coming up? I'M INTERESTED in purchasing a captive bred and born baby normal Red Blood Python. I also love NERD's videos on Red Bloods.
Arnica Moana yea really stop acting like the guy doesn’t use them to make money. At least we know Tyler and those guys do it as a business and understand they need to make videos people want to watch. Nobody is going to watch a 10-15m video of a Boa no matter how beautiful the snake is.
THIS. THIS IS WHY I RESPECT KEVIN. Better to be boring rather than being “sensational” and stupid. It’s just... you see so many of these people who claim to respect and care for their animals but then they turn around and pull off dramatic stunts, terrorize those same animals, and create “tense” situations just for views and click bait. It’s frustrating to see so I find Kevin’s “boring” content waaaay more enjoyable and wholesome because you can tell he ACTUALLY cares.
You're not "boring." You're informative. Your videos fit a broader target audience. People who don't know if they want a reptile as a pet. Majority of us won't be gertting a dangerous animal as a pet. Keep up the awesome work!
I love that the star of this video isn't the gorgeous venomous snake you're dealing with, but the absolute ham in the tank beside you going all out to draw some attention to himself
Watching this feels like having my dad sit me down for a talk about how he loves me, but he's worried about some of my recent decisions. It's actually pretty heartwarming.
I would rather watch Kevin just talking, EDUCATING, and gently interacting with the gaboon than someone waving a venomous around (not directed at Tyler.) Quality, responsibility, and maturity counts. 🔟/🔟
Josette Taylor agree like Tyler actually know him a little bit have met him gotten some tattoos in his shop. But is a little loose with the handling of the venomous reptiles so regularly it’s not a matter of if it’s when it happens and it will again if he does it SO often I think he should think a little bit more of the venomous reptile community, opposed to his channel and personal excitement. I due believe this hobby will abruptly end of it continues especially people taking it the wrong way and using an excuse like children. And saying look children are going to copy. Which I can say will shut it down and I don’t want to lose my collection.
Steve Irwin is a perfect example of how quickly and how tragicly an accident can happen. One of the great treasures of our time . A ambassador unequeld in the beauty and stewardship of Animals , lost to us and the generations to follow.
Steve irwin failed his death like many celebs that will be reapereing soonish don't worry...but even if he was dead...technology to bring them back is about to be released soon anyway...so don't fret.
I can respect this man and his snakes. I hate free handling I feel like it’s a great way to get bit, I don’t find those handlers fearless I call them stupid. I’ll support this channel 100%
Lol yeah leave them in a 1 ft by 2 ft enclosure for their life with no enrichment.. just because you don't do something doesn't make it wrong the wrong way to do things 😂
That was a beautiful gaboon viper, that’s one of them snakes you wish wasn’t venomous so you could hold it like you would a ball python. Beautiful but deadly
There's one at the closest zoo and... video doesn't do them justice, it's an utterly breathtaking species. If they weren't hot, I'd have 3 by now even if I had to literally, and very illegally, sell one of my kidneys to do it
@@markw1791 defanging a venomous snake would not make them any safer to handle. It would still be possible to be envenomated by a snake missing one or both fangs if the snake secrets venom out of their venom glands while biting a person if the person has any kind broken skin(cut, scrape, Knick, bite wound, etc.) near where the snake bit.
The voice of reason! Ive been handling venomous 45 years plus and Im more convinced today then yesterday that free handleing is simply not necessary ever.
Love how Kevin treats the beautiful Gaboon Viper with care and respect. His discussion of free handling venomous snakes is logical and sensible. One person's chance taking mistake casts a shadow on the community inviting more restrictive laws. Thank you Kevin.
Snakes are my greatest fear but subscribing to this channel was the best choice I ever made! Came here from the Reptile Channel video (great work btw) and now I can't stop watching! There's so much to learn, slowly understanding and appreciating them as animals has been a great, keep at it. Channels like yours make a difference :)
This was a VERY responsible video. Kevin brings up excellent points about not “poking the bear” of possible legislation preventing the possession of venomous snakes in our state. He calmly let the beauty of the animal speak for itself in that respect.
I owned a “hot” copperhead and she was an absolute sweetheart. I never free handled her. Not out of fear, but because I didn’t want any backlash from the Government. She was an awesome animal, and even my wife was heartbroken when she passed. My brother has a “hot” cottonmouth that is absolutely a placid animal. A bite from any venomous snake can and will ruin your day.
I don't understand having them as pets when they're confined to a tiny cage. 2nd, while not highly toxic as bite from either can kill pets or a person if it got out. But that's your choice.
I'm always amazed by how beautiful Gaboon Vipers are. They are definitely one of Mother Natures finest works of art. I'm not even into snakes , but I know beautiful when I see it.
I don’t know how people can say “mother nature’s” art.. you are acknowledging something this amazing had to be created, without giving the creator credit 😂
@@CHloE748 , It's just a figure of speech. Evolution through natural selection is the process by which it happens. As far as "a creator" , none of those god myths is any more than superstition and an attempt to explain what at the time humans didn't know or understand. Of course there were more uses for them but the origin was just humans attempt to explain the world around them. It got bad when some of them figured out that they could use the ignorance and superstition of their neighbors to amass power and wealth. That continues to this day.
You''re a really easy person to like. You're very relaxed, chill, calm, speak clearly, educated, thoughtful. I admire you! Huge fan now, so I guess I've gotta watch more videos to support :)
Mrs B. There’s a greater margin of error there with venomous snakes than there is for driving cars or flying planes. Not to mention you’re not the only party involved in freehandling- there’s another living animal on the other end that doesn’t necessarily appreciate it most of the time.
@@SlenderTroll its actually worse a greater margin of error with driving cars if you add the drunk drivers the texting drivers and the dope drivers and the rare but not out of the norm sex while driving all leading to lots more deaths then free handling
Edward Tyndall You’re comparing something universally done by most people on the planet to something done by very few. First false equivalency error. Secondly, if you’re not driving like an absolute invalid you have more control to avoid those incidences, also considering the time of day you drive.
Kevin McCurley is the god of the reptile industry. The dude cares about his animals and shows it in his videos every time. I love watching his videos and I learn so much more from him than anyone else!!!
The biggest thing about Kevin is he dont just talk the talk he walks the walk from being vegan to the way he socializes his monitors and retics and anacondas from birth till they go to their new homes.
Very diplomatic and I 100% agree. We have a responsibility to represent ourselves and our hobby in a positive manner. It's also vital to remember that there are always consequences for our actions
Freehandling is just really douchey. Yeah, I did it several times in my youth, and the cool factor lasts a few minutes, but beyond that, it's just for showing off. perhaps, I'd have been extra cool with the obligatory tatts, and piercings, I don't know. 40+ years of Herpetology with no bites, beats looking cool for a few minutes, any day.
Yeah to each his own with a comment. I watch Tylers videos every time he posts one. I could care less about his tats and ear things, and I appreciate his taking care of his animals....all of them. His other chill out videos on his channel are pretty awesome too. Too nit pick someone providing education and entertainment for many, about the way they look, talk etc. is not only douchey, they are,as I see it the top of the douche bag list. And as for not getting bitten so far...................good for you champ.
@Joshua Jason Karl Nah I'm way to old to get butt hurt, with the exception of roids. I like to repel, from rocky cliffs near my farm. Is that douchey? To each his own I say. I enjoy watching the dude handle the hot ones. He lives a cool life that's entertaining to me. Big boy toys, and at times dam good looking women. So what if he wants to show off his life, and get paid for it. How cool is that?. You were the one butt hurt about him showing off etc, commented about it and I replied.
@@serpentinewolf7085 if you had ever been bitten by a venomous snake you would definitely not say that! When the venom starts poisoning your body, the pain is horrific. When you can’t breath and you can feel everything shutting down, blood starts just leaving your body through your itinerary and you can feel that things are bleeding inside because your organs are shutting down and bleeding. It’s horrific, definitely not a way to ever go. It’s painful and traumatic and slow. And yes. I know this personally. I’ve been bitten by a tiger snake and I lived to tell the tale
I’m here to be educated about reptiles I love that there are no gimmicks here. I guess I’m just boring but you guys thoroughly entertain me and feed my quest for knowledge of animals. I would love to jam with Kevin lol
Hey bud. I just need you to know I enjoy ripping on Kevin. By no means do I not see a value in what Kevin is doing in these videos - 🎥Donny Rapture🎬 - My IG - bit.ly/2lVu5WG
Yet another great piece of educational content added for the masses! Love the video. I’ll take a NERD video about reptiles, over click bait any day. The next generation of reptile keepers need this level of explanation with the whys and the whatnots. Thumbs up for sharing your knowledge with the world.
Kevin you are the perfect example of a snake keeper. You being responsible is how EVERYONE should act. Even though you didn't want to point it out. Tyler was not reading the snake at all, throwing it around. I'm not saying he doesn't know how to read them or doubting his skillset as you put it. But on that particular video. It was not reading the snake at all. I agreed with every word you said in this video. You are a great example. The stuff you said about steve almost made tears. I didn't know him personally like you but, what a great man. As are you.
Thos is one of the biggest reasons I love your channel . I'm not a fan of snakes, spiders, creepy things that are venomous especially.. But I love nature and feel everything has it place in nature. I go out of my way to avoid them. And especially to avoid harming or killing them. Your channel is so educational in a great positive way.
Handling venomous reptiles is like handling a gun. It's always loaded, ready to go off, even when you know it isn't. Always be strict with safety procedure, the first time and the thousandth time.
Great vid Donny and very well said, Kevin. I love Tom and Stacy, and I've had my eye on Tyler and Chandler for a while now. They're both great young men. While I appreciate their need to have a personal choice and absolutely agree with that need, I think everyone who owns a reptile, hot or not, needs to make the unselfish decision to think about the bigger picture and share responsibility with everyone else in regard to public perception. The powers that be sah we are privileged to be the caretakers for these animals. In essence, that means We can easily lose that privilege if each of us doesn't do our part. Its not right or fair that others dictate what we do in our own homes or facilities, but it is what it is. Good decisions and good stewardship are the only things that enable people like Kevin and USARK to fight for us. Yep, its boring. It doesnt get views or create great content, but its taking the big picture into consideration always. Well done guys!
Tyler comes off to me as extremely lucky. He's used to things going very well for him. At the same time, he has a passion and a working knowledge of that passion. Sometimes it reads like arrogance and entitlement. Other times, he seems like a kid in a candy store. Chandler is a different kind of person. He has this wildness inside that really reminds me of Steve Irwin. He loves to please the crowd but he's extremely eager to give back to the environment. I'd argue that Chandler is more careful than Tyler, and that's why Tyler rarely handles king cobras. I feel like I can't give Tyler enough credit, but then I can't stress enough that his luck might some day run out. Then there's Dingo... I have very mixed feelings toward Dingo.
You absolutely nailed all my thoughts on Tyler and the Naga situ. I’ve watched that particular video about 4 times, it was a perfect storm for him to get nailed from that cobra, if he was the professional he says he is, why did it happen?? New sub, you talk complete sense.
Yeh been a bit since I watched that video but I think that snake was about to b or was in shed and watching all these videos, I’ve even learned they r cranky at that time and they should b left alone to chill during that time. I was surprised Tom was willing to let his snake b handled like that too. I just remember thinking that as I watched it happen. Tom was standing there and u could tell by the cobras movements, it was very worked up. I just think if u care about ur animals u wouldn’t wanna put them under extra stress at a time like that. I do like both of them. Just thought that was a bad judgement call and I think they felt that way too after all that happened
I'm less interested in seeing the snakes eat and really interested in seeing the snake so relaxed it's yawning. You know how rare a snake yawn is to see? I LOVE seeing these calm snake videos! Also super funny seeing the Lilith video knowing Kevin now owns that snake LUL
Free handling hots? No, simply, but it isn’t black and white. This is, of course, a personal choice. I’d say allow that personal choice. But I am almost completely anti-filming it unless for educational purposes. Don’t encourage your reckless choices, don’t make us look bad, and don’t endanger others’ potential to be licensed/renewed.
Agreed, that’s why it took Tyler a few years to post the video of him getting bit, because he didn’t want it to be a news headline that affects the venomous laws.
@Josh R Actually, I have been told by many King Cobra keepers (and keepers of other, less handled species, like the Gaboon Viper) that free handling can be preferable to hook handling, as a big, heavy snake leaning on such a small, hard bar can cause broken ribs, and in turn cause the animal to lash much more violently. Many species of snakes in general can potentially be harmed by the pressure point of a hook. Educating on proper free handling can be beneficial to both keepers and animals. Even if the prior situation wasn’t so, there should still be education on how to do it properly so morons who *really, really* want to do it and are going to do it anyway will at least do it correctly. Please don’t be so quick to say something like that. :>
You never hear someone say "I only free handle without cameras around". What bothers me most is when some of the people that free handle speak about antivenom shortages around the world... Well, every bite from free-handling is taking away from a person who was envenomated by accident or in the field. Hopefully with how many people post about it, people stop caring about and it dies down.** since people think I’m going after Tyler on this... let me clarify. I have a close friend that works in the venom production industry, I hear about all the bites he consults on, and know how many have been related to free handling. The main issue is gaboons. People love holding gaboons. Further, seeing as my brother free-handles and I tell him I hate it and it’s unnecessary, I would gladly tell my brothers friend the same thing, or Tyler. Because while the doctors were telling his girlfriend and my brother that they have him under control, I was hearing it direct from people being consulted, how bad he was actually doing.
In a similar vein to hearing them talk about antivenom shortages it kind of annoys me when you hear them talk about the dangers of free-handling whilst doing just that. With respect to Tyler I tend to avoid his free-handling and venomous videos because I just end up thinking what exactly will it take for you to learn that it is unnecessary? You've already been bitten once and lost 2/3 of your finger, what is next? As Kevin said it's just a matter of time before that accident happens (whether that's through mishandling through poor knowledge or whether it is a random freak accident) and next time it could mean his life. Is an ego boost from idiots online really worth that?
I watched a Tylor video yesterday he removed a blue viper baby from inside the cage while the parents were inside!! He removed the glass and left it wide open for a good 10-15 mins both glass pieces removed and sitting on the floor. I just could not believe it! I know he loves his animals but he needs to show viewers safety first!!
Kevin, you're so much like Steve Irwin. That calm, confident, attentive body language that comes through whether you're handling snakes or not reminds me so much of him. He's one of a handful of people whose loss absolutely broke my heart, the other two being dearly beloved relatives, and it's deeply heartwarming to see someone so much like him in those key ways.
I just remembered watching as a kid Steve Irwin screeming all the time at the camera while touching these animals and making a point explaining how those animals don't like being handled and dislike loud noises. So right then and there even as a kid I was like... He'll eventually die doing this shit and I won't be even sorry. It was so cringy.
Gaboon vipers are my most favourite snakes. Saw a documentary probably 25 years ago where they were looking for them and the dude was literally stood about a foot away from 1 and didn't see it, the camo was so good, since then I've loved them ❤
I could watch this all day - What a gorgeous snake!! I have so much respect for your argument Kevin, and I absolutely agree with the message you are trying to convey - These animals are so beautiful, and honestly I would still watch them through the glass of a cage in every video - I actually feel mostly uncomfortable seeing anyone free handle venemous!! Thank you once again for taking the time to educate and explain your viewpoint - Hopefully your message will circulate and have a positive impact on other handlers!! ❤ #NERD4LIFE 😆
Watching freehandling videos I have come to the conclusion that most go in expecting to look like Steve Irwin, but instead come out looking like Jackass.
Definitely spend some time educating people on respectful venomous handling. I watched Chandler because I really just love snakes, and learning about them. Tyler I follow for so many reasons. I think him showing the video and showing that mistakes can happen was great.
I have a question, this is an old video and I probably won't get an answer but here goes. If you are free handling a venomous snake , about how long before it bites would it begin to give off signs , if at all ? I don't know anything about snakes but I doubt that it's going to try to " sneak" you with a bite , I'd imagine that their venom is valuable to them and not something they waste. Thanks to anyone who answers !
That's a great point I try to teach people who are so afraid of Copperheads. They do value their venom & don't want to bite just because. The fear of Copperheads in the SE is insane & causes people to fear/ kill any snake they see. This has actually caused more Copperheads as snakes that hunt them are taken out. As far as the hots that are kept, each snake is different. You can predict some behavior but not all, safe handling is the only way to prevent bites.
I love how boring you guys are!! But seriously your content is awesome and so informative! I love how responsible you are and how much love you have for your animals and your community.
This was an amazing video, I was on edge the whole time that the gaboon viper was out. I'm not a huge fan of venomous animals, but I definitely do appreciate them. They are gorgeous animals that absolutely need to be respected. Awesome job guys!!!
I love the gaboon viper she’s so curious she definitely seems to be a lot more curious than a lot of other pit vipers I’ve seen it shows how talented Kevin is at handling these animals that she clearly trusts him not to hurt her.
As I watched a young man on another channel handle an enormous king cobra I was thinking to myself what happens to all these animals if something happens to him. If he gets bit things will go horrible for him & the domino effect it'll have on the animals that depend on him will be great as well. I know there's a little more money to be made by showing the free handling which in turn helps take care of the animals but the big question we must ask ourself is at what cost. Idk about anyone else but I for one would still happily watch a handler that's using good protection gloves . Of course a few viewers might stop watching because they're just waiting for that deadly bite but better to lose a few viewers than lose your life & ability to care for the animals that depend on you.
I didnt think i would make it through the whole 25 min video but the way Kevin talks and explains makes a 25 minute video seem lile 5 minutes. This Dude is awesome bro, new subscriber here!
Would love to see Kevin's collection of venomous, completely agree on the free handling side of things and so much respect for putting the animals welfare and the hobby first before using them for more views. There's way too many videos of free handling out that are nothing but shocking to watch
Could anyone else listen to Kevin talk about snakes all day? Learn so much from him. On another note....totally love Gabbys. Gotta be 1 of my fav venomous snakes
That is one of the most beautiful snakes I have ever seen. I do NOT find this boring in the least bit. I know they are highly venomous, and I love that you are promoting safe handling. Not everyone is you. You probably can and do free hand off camera. But YOU’RE DOING IT RIGHT! Those other people were just lucky, but luck runs out. I am glad Tyler lived to tell about his bite. And I STILL miss Steve Irwin. I follow both Bindi and Robert on Instagram and I’m so sorry Steve isn’t here. He’s about to be a grandpa, and he’s missing it. :(
Hi, Retha from South Africa.. I respect you so much for speaking out and agree 100%....people should show more respect to animals venomous or not and in so doing not jeopardizing responsible people's opportunities...great stuff
@14:48 idk about you but when that bite happened I got so spooked. Holy shit, I think I would legit never want to be anywhere near any snake I would be scared out of my kind.
To answer the question the reason why you should be able to free handle venomous snakes is not only to get them comfortable with you but if you have to treat them for any reason; which is part of the husbandry of caring for an animal. Same goes for anyone in the animal community or the care of animals period; cat bites 95% cause infection in the joints of the fingers which can cause serious damage but yet millions of people have them. While I get a snake bite will kill you faster than an infection from a cat bite I think there's a time and a place for free handling and it shouldn't just be willy nilly as a "look what I can do." As a vet tech I can't tell you how many times I've had close encounters with almost getting bit but if you listen to the animals, know animal behaviors, and know what you're doing you can avoid a good majority of bites. I've always enjoyed your videos keep up the good work.
I appreciate the fact that Kevin cares more about his animals and the hobby than his ego and views. I would love to see more venomous videos mostly because it would be great to get education without showboating. And i totally agree with Donny #kevinneedsazoo
Really these guys like tyler nolan or Chandler (wild life) or davidsfeed ( the Oracle snake) rescue many many snakes and other animals. A lot of the animals they have are rescues. These guys didn't just pick up a snake yesterday they have been doing it their whole life not like some idiots who watch a UA-cam vide and think their a professional snake handler.
I enjoy watching Kevin for his medical knowledge and the respect he has for the animals. I have watched the free handlers, and I always end with saying that they are fools. I worked with snakes, had a lot of respect for them, and had no problem. Others would get bit from the same non-ven. Thank you for holding your ground and not handing them. You can tell your experience just by that!
I love nerd but your right i started watching chandler and Tyler's channel because of there venomous reptiles but i watch every nerd video because Kevin is so smart.
The "boring" educational content is the best content. I would rather watch Kevin teach for 10 hours then have to sit through even a minute of a Chandler's wild life video.
Thank you for being Boring!!! I love learning from all your boringness information and I keep coming back. Your not boring if boring is being awesome then yes, yes you are!! LoL Also I want to thank you for being a wonderful pet/reptile owner. I can’t own snakes here in Hawaii so I live vicariously through you and other reptile owner here on UA-cam.
Thank you donnie and Kevin for doing this video. Especially with all these channels popping up with people free handing hot snakes. I look at it this way it's absolutely fine if you want to free hand your cobra behind closed doors but it shouldn't be done on video or in a public setting glorifying it. Mistakes do happen even with the most experienced handler these are after all very deadly animals in most cases. I myself an perfectly capable of handleing a venomous reptile free hand but I dont because A I know accedents happen and B it could affect the community if I were to take a bite. My stomach turns watching somebody like davidsfeed because I know that one day there will be a bite as they say its not if you get bit its when.
100%. Though I have had amazing experiences with wild venomous snakes. I accidentally stepped on a red belly, and he didn't even try to tag me. Once I felt movement I was able to rock back on my foot and this snake just bolted off into the bush. Stopped in the undergrowth and let me have a good look at him before he continued on his way. I was super thankful he was forgiving to me, and that he let me have a look at him.
Perfectly said. I especially liked the analogy of driving a car super fast. You might know what you’re doing, but over time you’re more and more likely to have an accident.
Keven youre a pro. The idea of fan boys seeing you do it and then them thinking they can do it is nuts! Example....my neighbor, married with two small kids, in his 30s brought his monitor lizard outside in its aquarium last summer. He left it in the yard. Distracted, doing other stuff, who knows. All I know is two days later I cant leave my house because there is a very large lizard hanging onto my screen door, just basking in the morning sun. I screamed my head off. It was blocking the exit from my house. My screams woke my neighbor who said very surprised "OHHHH THATS WHERE HE WENT". The guy had taken it outside and forgotten about it. He actually accused me of opening up the aquarium and letting it go. When he moved I saw all kinds of very large habitat cases used for animals. His house must have been full. However alot of them were left on the curb because the animal died. Im glad hes gone. Hes no Keven!
IFishSalt FearLess weather you love him or not, he got complacent over time and careless to some degree and it was obvious when watching the things he would do. I would see some of the things he did and knew it was a matter of time until he had an accident, most people and I thought it would be a gator accident. When the Stingray got him is was 100% his fault, careless and exactly what people knew would happen to him one day; just a different animal that got him than we thought. So love him all you want but his death was very dumb, careless thing that should not have happened!
These comments pointing fingers Tyler's way are part of the reason Tyler didn't want to release his bite video as it would come off as sensationalism. It wasn't released for that, it was for awareness and teaching respect for venemous animals. So before some of you yt comment warriors get on your soap box, watch some of Tyler, Chandler or Will Nace's videos and see how passionate and respectful they are for these animals. It's a different way than NERD shows their animals but respectful all the same. I started watching viperkeeper who is a wealth of information but can honestly be as entertaining as watching old people f*€!, to NERD, the young boys in Florida and even non venemous with Camp Kenan and Brian Barczyk. Different avenues of learning isn't a bad thing if it's respectful. Kevin in this video wasn't calling anyone out. He has his method of handling that fits in his comfort zone and keeps everything safe as do the other keepers. Just make sure before you comment that you aren't being biased and have enough knowledge on another handler before you attempt to vilify them.
Dick Wolf Why oh why would it be sensationalism ? He just looked over-confident and playing to the camera and naive. Why the fuck would he handle a cobra in shed ?? Wanted to be the man in front of the older, more experienced herper ? He was showponying and looked stupid when he got tagged because he made some basic mistakes. Hardly sensationsal ... more like embarrassing for him. It speaks more to your mindset that you would view a snakebite clip and package it as sensational ( Tyler still clickbaited those views by sensationalising anyway ffs) ...
Notice how the channels that handle venomous snakes get 100k subs in a month or two. While other animal based channels take at least a year for that many subs.. It's a shame, in my opinion.
I love how respectful you are to the beautiful Gaboon. She's so calm and sweet and curious. She seems like you could actually cuddle with her on the couch. (Don't ever do that with a venomous animal I'm just saying that she seems like she would be completely calm in a situation like that with him) Also She has the most beautiful and cute mustache. What an adorable and calm little chub.
I've only seen one or two of your videos but your love and respect for the animals shows. You're a very sensible and personable dude, keep doing what you're doing dude, it's great work.

This comment is everything. 😂💕

Tyler made a mistake shi happends
Steve Irwin is a perfect example of how quickly and how tragicly an accident can happen. One of the great treasures of our time . A ambassador unequeld in the beauty and stewardship of Animals , lost to us and the generations to follow.

Lol yeah leave them in a 1 ft by 2 ft enclosure for their life with no enrichment.. just because you don't do something doesn't make it wrong the wrong way to do things 😂
Showing respect to that beautiful animal is not boring. Keep doing what you are doing.
Kevin is one of, if not THE, best advocate for the community snake keepers, in the country. Keep up the great work Kevin, thank you for what you do.

I don't see the point in having a highly venomous snake .. as a 'pet'.
That was a beautiful gaboon viper, that’s one of them snakes you wish wasn’t venomous so you could hold it like you would a ball python. Beautiful but deadly

U can tell about 4 min in the video this guy was hard as a rock holding that snake 🐍
Cant you defang them?
Caitlin H this is great to hear!!!! Thank you for that. Nice to hear you are learning and enjoying ...... opening your mind!!!

Actually, it can ruin all the ones you might have had if you did not get bit.

WikkidVyxen thank you very much.
Josh R Also, was this video about free handling venomous reptiles, featuring free handling of venomous reptiles, not educational to some capacity?
@@arnicamoana7861 Why they have broader headed hooks for the heavier bodied snakes.
@Charles Doyle This is true, but the hook still is not nearly as gentle nor as dextrous as a hand.
Littlewings - exactly!

Steve Irwin was the hero of my early childhood. Even though i cant remember that much, i still remember crying when he died.
Watching freehandling videos I have come to the conclusion that most go in expecting to look like Steve Irwin, but instead come out looking like Jackass.
He is the legend of reptile educating ❤️ I’ll never forget the day he died- where I was. Just wrong place and wrong time 🙏🏻
What about the videos where the person and snake are just chilling and relaxing together?
I love your back ground snakes climbing around its like they wanna be in the picture hahaha
I think that you’re spot on with this. I don’t think anyone pays attention to the “do not try this at home” disclaimers.
Never a dull moment with these guys ;)
Thank you for trying to teach people how to intelligently handle animals. Most injury’s are created by the person not the animal or reptiles.

I wish I could work for this man in his facility with his animals and learn a fraction of the knowledge this man has on reptile husbandry.
So much respect for you, it can be very hard to see past ourselves. Very well done.
I enjoy watching Kevin for his medical knowledge and the respect he has for the animals. I have watched the free handlers, and I always end with saying that they are fools.
I worked with snakes, had a lot of respect for them, and had no problem. Others would get bit from the same non-ven.

When he talks about Steve Irwin, he fails to mention that Steve was stung by a ray that was buried in the sand. Steve never even knew it was there.
Actually he was stabbed by it and you make a very valid point!
Re: your "boring" point... professionalism usually is "boring" to watch. Keep it up!
No need to convince this Australian that free handling a venomous snake is a bad idea
Heck yeah, feed a king cobra! That sounds great, and I’d love to see where NERD gets its feeder snakes from.
Allot of them are caught in florida. Because they're invasive there.
Absolutely love Steve Irwin. We lost a legend that day. Respect!
Absolutely love Kevin. A legend in his own right. Respect!
It’s called luck, and it does run out
Smarter than the average bear!!! Much respect my man... ✌🐍
People hate on Kevin because he says what needs to be said
Around 11:18 is that lilith? The blue eyed leusistic king Kevin bought?
It's a shame, in my opinion.
cause the name of the titles and youtube's algorithm
I have personally subscribed to a couple...”less seasoned” hot keepers just so I can get that “OMG VENOMOUS BITE!!! Amputation??” Clickbait title.
Some people just want to watch the world burn
I love watching the THICC snakes dance in the background
I love how respectful you are to the beautiful Gaboon.
She's so calm and sweet and curious. She seems like you could actually cuddle with her on the couch. (Don't ever do that with a venomous animal I'm just saying that she seems like she would be completely calm in a situation like that with him)
Also
She has the most beautiful and cute mustache. What an adorable and calm little chub.
I've only seen one or two of your videos but your love and respect for the animals shows. You're a very sensible and personable dude, keep doing what you're doing dude, it's great work.
