Here he's really struggling on the high notes, but finally he changes tone and all what follows is amazing again. Note @02:45 how he kind of complains against his own voice.. or better he seems to think "wtf finally now it works again, damn!" :-) And then the satisfaction in his eyes @04:10.
This is the toughest verse of all GN'R's repertoir. From the front row we could really see all his suffering. We're with you, Axl!

One of my favorite songs and it's so difficult to sing -- I think this may be the best I've heard Axl belt it live.
And it's even more impressive considering his age and the stress he's put on his vocal cords over the years.

I fucking love their Chinese Democracy songs and I love Axl and would love nothing more than to hear IRS live but Axl doesn't have the strength in his voice to pull off IRS and make it sound awesome, hell, he struggled when the song was new 😂 such a bitch of a song to do live

The verses have always been difficult to sing live, as in the studio it was all different takes cut together - but he really has it together for the screams!
He was saving it for the scream, which worked because it was so satisfying
All axls vocals are different takes. According to Alice cooper when they did the garden Axl sings every line individually. Not as a full song so that’s why he effortlessly goes from C2 to F#5 plus he also layers the vocals in multiple octaves and even does them like guitar chords like doing a high F# a middle and prominent A and a lower D

Buckethead really did do an awesome job (as usual) when writing for this song! He was definitely an odd choice for axl to go for when recruiting but it definitely a good idea! Slash does a pretty good job here but its not quite the same

@@alejandrobenitez795 Suena demasiado alto pero muy "hueco" y en varias ocasiones muy perdido. Creo que su mejor etapa fue la del 2009-2012, decayó bastante su nivel. Tengo entendido que Brain de vez en cuando esta en backstage ya que no se que tipo de relación tiene con Melissa pero bueno, ojalá el cierre de Axl en Guns sea con Brain, Matt o alguien mejor que Frank.

Eu amo essa música, mas o fato do slash ter praticamente mudado o solo todo é complicado. Entendo que cada guitarrista queira (e deve) dar seu próprio estilo ao solo, mas mudar ele completamente é fod@. Em "This I Love'' misericórdia. Deve ser por isso que o Axl acaba errando a letra e o tempo.

They still can’t ever seem to get this song right either lyrically or musically - and I’m saying that in support cause it’s a monster to play. The closest I think they came was in Latin America they have featured on their channel. Axl messing up the lyrics with literally a half dozen teleprompters on stage is so Spinal Tap. 😂
Why would you say that mate? This is an good Performance of the whole thing. Of course slash interpretates the solos of buckethead differently and axls voice change through the years but he hits the notes and used not too much distortion as always. The Piano and String parts and the whole Arrangement of the other Instruments are also great and don't sound wrong to me so why do you think that?

@@kuhanblock9380 Would be interested if he could do them. But I'm "afraid" that he would do them better than slash could and some fans would be disapointed not slash playing "all" solos. But to be honest a lot of the solos played on Chinese Democracy arent his style of playing and beyond his ability. Why should he do crazy tapping stuff. For Buckethead or Bumblefoot it was easier. They just had to play the good things slash did all the years and a lot of it was played by all of them quiet well with a little bit added here and there. For example Bumblefoot adding a little bit of tapping for the end of the SCOM Solo. But most of the time they kept the original.

Steven Tyler was always a trained singer, Axl wasn’t for a long time
opinion as an average singer here, when i sing raspy voice, it strains my throat to the point i always get cough and almost throw up..for a professional singers like them they use some techniques of having not damaging their vocal chords especially in their throat area..
Trust me Steven, Brian Johnson nor Mariah Carey will not sing this song. It's ain't a play thing.
@@rugalsugal that is true, but added rasp will always take a toll on your voice no matter how "healthy" it is, and to think how long axl's been using that technique for nearly every song on three hour shows for years is incredible from a longevity standpoint even if its only for brief moments now.
