We’re Marianne and Chris, a married couple from the UK. After some life changing events we decided that life was just too short. We sold all our belongings, bought an old Campervan & rented our house to travel full time. The aim is to attempt to visit every country in the world in either our van or with a backpack. We started videoing our travels for our family and then decided it was a wonderful way to document and share our adventures.

3:11 3650 endemic plants out of the 11707 plant varieties grown in Turkey grown only in Turkey.. that is more than 30 percent of the plants that grow in Turkey only endemic plants specific to Turkey.. This number is more than the sum of endemic plant number in all of Europe.. Yes, Turkey could be agricultural giant of whole Europe if she wants!

All stone blocks of Bodrum castle belongs to Mausoleum of Halicarnassus which is recognized as one of the seven wonders of ancient world and they were carried by Knights of St. Jean from original place during construction of castle at early 15th century. Mausoleum already has been destroyed by an earthquake before building of castle.
This castle, 15th century was built in the century, where different civilizations lived centuries ago, it is a very impressive place that we can visit in this time.(actually due to the corona not these days). I havent seen The castle before your video. I think it's definitely a historic place to see. Thanks :)

hi there travellers good to see things going well for you and also thanks for all the buddy more information you share with the global or should I say the world I know Bodrum quite well I've been there a few times in the past and also thanks for reminding me about all those Good Food wonderful places to eat in Turkey where I live we do have two Turkish restaurants and a takeaway but I don't think they would taste the same hope the ferry trip goes good for you and arrived safe myself on Total lockdown for the next few weeks just because I've been abroad as always promise I will keep an eye on your website and also introduce new people to it all the best Ricky in the UKxxxxxxxxxx

Bodrum, Mamaris and Fethiye are the Gulet ,yacht capital of the Turkish Rivera region. I learned about this region while researching my Gulet cruise spring of 2019, where all the Gulet begin. I was hiking on st Nicholas Island, hikers were very friendly to each other,so I asked the Turkish lady after she helped me took a few pictures, "which Gulet are you on?" She pointed at a big private yacht, anchored next to our group. I felt bad for them later that night because I of the Gulet was partying until 1am . There were 3 Gulets and her yacht that night along the coast

Have been going to Turkey for 30 years but never been to Bodrum for some reason..but around there I have been. Usually visiting my husbands relatives in Izmir and Istanbul they dont let us go cause they want to see us...Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!

Great video. Beautiful area. Loved the tiles around the trees. This area adds wild peacocks to the list of animals around town, loved seeing them. One of the best advertising presentations for a product I have seen with nomads. I might sign up for the magazines. It would be fun if you took us to Greece for a few days.

I’ve been a few times :) I’d fly to Bodrum, spend a few days, drive up to Kusadadi- and stop off at Lake Bafa on the way. There are some ruins and rock tombs by the lake, and a few places to have a nice bit of fish! (And bread and salad of course!)
Ohh and the milipark by Guzelcamli is spectacular :)
I still have my pics from when I walked around the castle back in 1997, when I was young and skinny. Great memories !

Love your channel. Me and my wife got married in Bodrum Castle in 2016 and had our reception in Gumbet. Absoltely love the Bodrum Area. Strange to see it in winter, but still looks beautiful. Thanks for all your content, very entertaining. All the best

Bodrum is the second most beautiful place in Turkey after Istanbul, and you're lucky to have the most suitable time to see its entire beauty
There are so many places for us to visit that are beautiful and full of nature and friendship ... but we did have an amazing time in Bodrum and made some amazing friends
Glad you liked Bodrum ! Too bad you couldn't take a ferry to one of the Greek Islands. We took the Ferry to Crete one spring break and attended a Greek Easter service. We also took a Ferry from Izmir to Italy during summer break, and that saved us a lot of driving. I don't imagine they run during the pandemic. Maybe you could try Cyprus, since it's half owned by Turkey.

They did that castle up in 2018, it was covered in scaffolding and there were several cranes, they did a lot of work on it
Those holes on the castle wall overlooking the coast were probably for cannons to protect the castle and control of the area.
On the description above the window of the domed cistern you visited, the following is carved on in Turkish, written with Arabic script (The Turkish language was written with Arabic alphabet from the 11th cent. until 1928) :
"Giridî Elhac Hasan Ağa'nın eser-i hayrâtıdır. Sene 1222".
The translation :
"It's the work of charity by Alhaj Hassan Agha of Crete. Year 1807 (or 1808)".
I am not 100% sure with the date of construction because I can't clearly distinguish the script through video. Wish you a nice adventure.

The weather of Bodrum has the second highest oxygen rate in Turkey and the town is always windy. So you can take breath and don't feel humidity in summer. That's way people love Bodrum and it's special place in the world.

The building inside the castle is originally a church converted to a mosque by addind a minaret.

I rarely seen videos of the famous Gulet cruise, but Bodrum,Marmaris, fethiye are the Gulet capital in the Turkish Rivera region. It's totally worth a few days to the the coast line from a Gulet once a lifetime

have been to bodrum many times, bodrum does have problems with the drains when they get severe heavy rainfall.plenty of videos of cars floating down the side roads.
You are for a long time in turkey. Have nice trip.
Try lokmas filled with chocolate. There are lokma shops in coastal towns selling only lokma varieties.

Announcement you've heard is probably about someones death, informing everybody and calling them to prayer hence the lokma it is a tradition to do charity when someone dies(giving food or treats is a common way)
Lokma for me means piece meal (small piece of food)
Turkeys fauna is so extreme that 1/3 of the worlds flowers originate from there.
But the cactus is imported, they don't even naturally appear anywhere else except North America, And a small island outside of yemen,

My uncles are living in Göltürkbükü which is the northern side of the peninsula
When the current COVID restrictions are Relaxed a little, maybe a trip to Northern Cyprus? I think you would like it a different version of Turkish foods and traditions highly recommended

The Bay of Maramaris is amazing but Marmaris, outside the small old town, is a bit like Torrelemenous. Stay at the village of Turunc to the south and explore the unspoilt datcha peninsula
