This is certainly the first time I've seen the photos and heard the music from this 1966 Shea Stadium concert. The photos and sound take us back in time in an incredible way. Congratulations to everyone for this gift.
Finally, this second Shea show gets the respect it deserves. You always hear about the '65 concert but this one was even more important. It was one of their last ever! Plus a great set list! Okay, it's not complete, but I'll take it anyway! And the photos are gear too! Makes me feel like I was there! Thank you Elena!
It's good to have this. But it's not a great recording of a mediocre (at best) show & their "effort" shows. Also the poor audio at that time for a stadium concert. The Beatles were the first at that.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 The 1966 American tour was enveloped in controversy, because of the public's reaction (in America, at least) to John's "We're greater than Jesus" comment in an interview. There was a Beatles backlash, especially in the southern states, with mass burnings of Beatles records and anything related to the group. So it's not really a surprise that the 1966 concert didn't sellout like the 1965 concert had.
@@robertzastrow4648 Thats true. Plus a lot of the great songs on Rubber Soul and Revolver would be hard to reproduce on Stage. In their 1966 Concerts they were still singing songs from 1964.

Every year on tour playing every day, and sometimes twice a day, the same songs. The Beatles were on and off the stage in about 30 minutes. No wonder George couldn't hardly remember some concerts.
These photos have historical significance. Amazing. Also...I believe this was the last year the Beatles toured, having tired of the madness and deterioration of their music for not being able to even hear themselves.
Astonishing viewing, wow thank you Elena. Looks like they are dressed in their 1966 attire. Have never heard of Shea Stadium concert from 66.So cool George doing If I Needed Someone, classic melody. They did well to stay in time & sing it out. They would have looked ab fab in leather... the complete audio recording would have topped this off. Thanks again :)
Thank you for these fantastic photos, this is history in the making, just about everything we experience today at Stadium concerts, thanks to this one, lessons where, learnt and acted upon, as usual The Beatles with the first, The Beatles just about changed everything, has Elton John said on many occasions, without The Beatles none of us, ( meaning pop performers) would be around, and he is so right, I'm so glad I grew up with the Beatles, I first saw them on Granada Television when I was 8, and they have been in my life ever since, I'm 64 now and every day I listen to The Beatles, all I can say and I really mean this, god bless the Beatles.
Amazing photographs. Even though this concert wasn't filmed and the audio wasn't recorded, it was still very well covered with lots of amateur footage and lots of news footage and interviews...and these photos. It might have seemed like a bit of a disappointment having fewer tickets sold than the previous year but there were still well over 40,000 people. This must have been one of the Beatles biggest attended concerts ever, behind the first Shea show...and maybe the Philippines?

Wonderful photos. I’ve never seen a majority of these. Is the concert audio from there last ever concert at candlestick park San Francisco ? Anyway great video many thanks, you never disappoint.
Yes there is an audio recording of their very last paid-performance, in San Francisco, on Aug 29, 1966. It was recorded - not professionally - on a small portable recorder, and the tape runs out on their last song. But it's all that exists.
At a Rolling Stones concert this summer I sat next to a woman who told me she saw the Stones on their first USA tour..I ask if she’d ever seen the Beatles..she replies “oh yes, Shea stadium in 65 and 66 my dad bought us tickets” and proceeds to give me details of each show. There were about 12,000 empty seats at this show. Nearly 54 years later, I bet a lot of people in the New York City area are still kicking themselves.
But they still sold more concert tickets that summer than any other pop band.
The statement about Jesus and Beatles was the problem.
