    That illustration footage freaks me out. I know I've been exposed to asbestos from work in the past. Now I know how serious I need to be about protecting myself and others. The old footage of asbestos factory workers breathing in clouds of that shit is Insane. Even more crazy is that some of them never got sick. It's like those chain smokers you here about that live till 90.

      You’re not the only one who’s been exposed. A lot of people have, myself included. It’s single handed lay the the only thing that scares me more than anything’s else. I know I’ve got to die of something, I’m not too bothered about that but I certainly don’t want to die because of asbestos because I went to work one day.

    My dad died of mesothelioma in the mid 80's. He was 56. In the early stages of the disease, before it was diagnosed, he had a chest x-ray which didn't show any problem. It wasn't until months later, and the symptoms persisted that he was checked into a specialist heart and lung hospital where they opened him up and actually looked inside they could make a formal diagnosis. Detection may be better these days at the early stages, but even so, it's always fatal, unless benign (which can happen but is rare) After diagnosis, life expectancy is 12 months at the most, usually.

And the heater has always been on with asbestos on the pipes and next to all the stuff in the roof My dad has had a cough for a long time and I’m worried it’s because of the asbestos and we’ve been breathing it in 16 years and I’m just so worried. Asbestos is not dangerous as long as you don't touch it or try to remove. One of the reason why it was so good was that it didn't fall down as fast as cement and that it didn't burn and was a good isolation material. So don't touch it and you'll be fine. If you trespass it a couple of times in your life it isn't dangerous. I believe that your blocked nose are because of your old house and not because of asbestos.

    No, this video is actually pretty harsh about it. Short exposures of high amounts and long exposures of small amounts isn't harmful entirely. Eventually your lungs with cover up the particles inhaled, however, very long exposure to asbestos will cause the lungs to continue to cover up and eventually become smaller, and have more scar tissue. This is when real problems begin occuring.

    Wow, I had no idea how harmful this material could be! It's as if you inhaled microscopic glass shards. Millions of tiny splinters that neither you nor your body can do anything about lodge in your lungs for the rest of your life. Only increasing chances of cancer risk and respiratory failure as you age.
    Honestly, this stuff looks a million times worse than anything cigarettes could hope to do. At least your body can recover to a fairly healthy state once you quit, but this lasts a life time! And all it takes is one accident to cause immediate problems that you're stuck with.
    It goes without saying for most, but if you're working on an old home, please, for your health and well being wear a gas mask.

      This is wrong on so many levels. If you smoke, you’re 600 times more likely to develop an asbestos related cancer. There is no such thing as a safe amount of asbestos. One fiber or one million; the risk the same. Unless you’re a trained professional, do not touch asbestos. It is only to be removed by asbestos removal contractors.

    • @tamadnapagong7860
      @tamadnapagong7860 4 роки тому +1

      @@mikethomas2238 The risk is certainly not the same. A person exposed to asbestos only once is less likely to get cancer than a person who had been working with it for years. Smoking also doesnt have a safe amount but you dont see everyone who inhaled a puff of smoke get cancer do you?

    They even say that if the fiber was big enough and didn't attach to the soft tissue of your lungs the lung sistem may remove it and you'r safe.
    But neverless, avoid asbestos.

      +Larry Jung it would require highly invasive surgery(literally tear apart every tiny piece of your lung) to get rid of tiny particles that you can barely see.It may actually be better to create an entire artificial lung, than it would be to go in and clean up each and every one of those tiny particles.Remeber thos asbestos pieces are inorganic solids, they don't degrade with time.Once they get in they stay there and accumulate.

      +Solar Gaze "Nano Technology" combine with chemistry and biology can find a way to cleans/destroy microscopic asbestos particles in the inner human body if research is done in this area.Microscoptic nano machines design to destroy asbestos particles chemistry makeup thereby cleansing the inner human body of asbestos fibers/particles which would prevent asbestos related diseases!.
