The hands are the most egregious one, but yeah it is obnoxious how much MLB umpires are letting pitchers tapdance in stretch. It's leaking into all levels of the game that it's just fine now. At least with RHP. But if a lefty does it with a runner on 1B, it's nearly always going to be a balk. As a hitter, as an umpire, and as a LHP I hate it on all 3 levels 😅
This is what’s so cool about new people like me getting into this sport. I totally get a balk now from this. Well maybe 😂 but it’s super cool to have these breakdowns that really explain things to someone who never played
There is most definitely a double set balk on the 1-2 pitch. Thanks for correcting the edit and reuploading. Clear as day now. And Ross was right. He went too far, clearly, but he was right.
Not heard of this type of balk before so yeah, can definitely see it now. His front leg and shoulder movements were what I first thought he was seen for, but it's hard to tell if this is just his natural set routine. Either way, flinching your front knee or slightly turning your shoulders like that can be called balks too no? I guess if it's not natural or usual for that pitcher.
Because it wasn't a balk. Watch closer. The pitcher's left leg is still flexing as he comes set the "second" time. As long as something is moving, the pitcher hasn't come set yet.
@@RyanRobbins007 I would argue that he balked prior to that because he didn't come to a stop. But if they're letting that one go then they would have to call the balk on the second set situation.
Interesting one. I always thought managers only argue to influence the umps and boost team morale. But it can also deter the other team from bending the rules a little bit.
I have to say Tumpane got it right....Carrasco's lower body never came set when his hands were low on the pitch in question. If his hands DON'T come set in the high slot would you call the no-stop balk because of this? If you answer yes, then it was only a single set with the hands high.
If that wasn't a balk, the rest of his pitches were quick pitches or no stop balks. His usual motion does seem to be to set low, even if he's got slight movements to his lower body I guess. This was a balk.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
In general, I trust Tumpane. No one is perfect, but I think he's very good.
Very educational. I have to admit that it didn't look like a balk to me at first.
It's just not his hands. His damn legs are in constant motion even with his hands held high.

@@2011SoxMD36 Yeah, and don't even get me started on this hybrid set\windup BS. At least the NFHSA is cracking down on it from what I hear.

No you don't.
And that's nothing against you. Go find the CCS interpretation of the Balk Rules. They put it in another video. :)
He was balking every time before Ross came out, wasn’t stopping as well as the double set. 4 umps all missed it is a joke
This is a balk in my opinion.

I'm also not sure why Ross got tossed. Didn't seem like he was too demonstrative. He explained to the ump what happened and got tossed?
Arguing a balk/non-balk, like balls and strikes, is grounds for ejection.
He must’ve personally insulted the umpire. Otherwise that was a lame ejection.
How could four MLB umpires miss probably the most obvious start/stop balk you're ever going to see?

That was a very smooth balk, which is how he got away with it.
The cubs have been called for multiple balks themselves lately so Ross was clearly frustrated by the double standard
Re-upload? Thought I just watched this one about an hour so ago???
I thought the same thing!

Yes, we spliced a pitch into the opening sequence.

I still have nothing. Pitchers leg is continuing moving before he came set. NOT A BALK. Love these vids.
Watching real time I had that as a start/stop. Gotta call it as such at this level
Yep
He balks every single time, leg never stops moving, the double set was ridiculous
Yeah, balk with that double come set...
Villar from angels just got ejected last night!
We got our money’s worth for the 14th time this year
Way more than that...
@@FactsMatter we are only counting the dings that CCS do
Absolutely.
They were all balks. Once or maybe twice is one thing. 3 or more..Ross is right. Umpire needs to wake up.
Say did you know that Aaron Judge is really tall?
BALK
That’s a double set. Balk!
Some baseball rules are weird...
It's a balk.
I hate how people feel the need to explain things in the video
Stone cold balk.
That was a balk how'd the ump blow that
It's clearly a balk
Balk
I hate Ross and the Cubs but that was a balk
Looks like a double set
Quick pitch
No, that is not what a quick pitch is.
Obvious balk
Balk all day…..
He balked at least 3 times. And yeah I think Tumpane is one of the best ones. But 4 guys missed those.
Here’s the thing. Does that deceive the runner tho?
Like yeah he missed it, but was it that bad?
He violated a pitching rule. It does not matter if he deceived the runner.
The legs never stop moving on the first "set", So not a double set, so not a balk
Except that he never came to a complete stop. That would be a balk.
@@alanhess9306 He did on the second set. It may have been instantaneous, but it was still a stop
@@dalegarraway9865 There were at least two I saw where the was no stop. I'm surprised these were not called. Look at the 0:16 mark.
I gather Ross is really upset about his team having the 3rd worst record in the NL.
