    Yes! This was awesome Andy, thank you for taking us with you. So impressive to see the vast collection at the transport museum! The 1981 Gilair was SUPER cool!! So amazing that you can pop inside and see the cockpit. Loved the music and watching your explore. Thank you for the excellent video!

      Thanks for watching Alessa. The GilAir plane ended up in the museum after an accident on the ground at a local airport. The airline decided to donate the airframe rather than scrap it. I'm pleased you enjoyed the tour of the museum.

    That place was BRILLIANT.
    Absolutely 💯 % up my street.
    I lived right next to RAF Hendon museum. Used to visit that and loved it!!
    Great job there Andy 👌

    Hi Andy.
    Great video my friend, it was a great pleasure to watch. (I love the vulcan, a classic!)
    Warm greetings from Shanghai....

      Thanks for watching Thomas. Yes, the Vulcan is a favourite aircraft here in the UK. Sadly, they are no longer able to fly due to the lifespan of their airframes and ancillaries.

    Hi Andy, thank you for showing us around the transport museum. What a great place to visit! It was fascinating to see all the different modes of transport. It was interesting to learn more about them. Best wishes from us both xx

    Doing some pretty marvelous restorations there for sure!! Quite the contrast between the old and the new. These types of museums are a wonderful tribute to those that gave the ultimate gift to all humanity! If you have never taken off in a helicopter take a flight...quite the rush! Great addition with all the cars too. I'd say that was a great way to spend a day off!

      Thanks for watching Bruce. It's a good little museum with a variety of exhibits. I've not had the thrill of a helicopter ride so far, something to add to the bucket list. Have a great week. 👍

    Fun museum tour Andy. So many planes, trains and automobiles. Cool to see! Thanks for bringing us along. Did Nissan just start up over there in 1985? It was here in the US as Datsun by the 70's. Maybe earlier I'm not sure. The first car I bought after I started to earn decent money was the 240-Z in 1974. We enjoyed the full museum tour.

      @OutandaboutwithAndy  3 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching Dave and Kathy, much appreciated. There is a good display of planes for sure. Nissan started here in the early 80s, before that, all the Datsuns and later Nissan's were imported from Japan. A Datsun 240Z is a collectable car these days. They were once available for reasonable sums here in the UK, but now a good one is around £30k.

    Fascinating Andy ! Lost count at NELSAM bingo tho !! Loved the Museum artefacts and memorabilia along with all the aircraft - some very familiar makes and models captured and like you I too did the airfix models ! A great spot to visit indeed !

      Thanks for watching Andrew. It's an interesting place, ran by volunteers. They don't have a big marketing budget to get their name out there. It's a good place to spend a few hours if you are interested in aviation, transport and modern history.

    I wasn't aware that there is another flight-related museum quite close to National Museum of Flight in North Berwick - I'll need to visit it whenever I will have time. 😍😍👍👍Great video my friend!

      Thanks for watching. It's a museum that's been around for a long while but runs on a budget and that includes marketing it. I think more people are aware of the Museum at Elvington near York than this one.

  • @HereToCheers
    @HereToCheers 3 місяці тому +1

    That is quite the mouthful to say! They need a better marketing department LoL..Amazing to see such a rich collection of transport history in one place. Thank you for braving the weather to bring us this wonderful museum tour. Much appreciated! That's cool you could go inside some of them. Did you get to try any of the simulators?

    • @OutandaboutwithAndy
      @OutandaboutwithAndy  3 місяці тому

      I didn't get into some of the simulators for fear of needing help to get out. Pilots I figure are a few pounds lighter than I am. Thanks so much for watching.

    Nice explore Andy 😊 I reckon I would have gotten quite claustrophobic in the cock pit too. It’s a good place to have a look around. Great tour. 😊

      Thanks, Yasmin. It's worth seeing how small the cockpit is in a Vulcan. The lack of windows makes it feel smaller than a small car interior . Thanks for watching 🙂.

    Looks a good mix of transport there.The place looks or at least seems pretty darn huge. It didn't seem very busy. Pretty cool you could have a good look at the aircraft and get underneath. Well the ones outside anyway. I don't know why but I do like old buses

      Thanks for watching Paul. It's a decent size place, there was even more room when it was just the air museum. They do hold special events here too like car shows, bike rallies and ghost hunts (it is rumoured to be haunted).

    Hi- ya Andy
    Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day. Double celebration!
    Very enjoyable walking tour at the museum.
    We have a lot of rocket exhibitions near Kennedy Space Center, but not such wide range of air and land transportation in one place.
    Wow Dragon Helicopter is really valuable and the design surely suggests the name of origin. cool 3:00
    Wow this place must be massive enough to exhibit various size of air-craft outdoor. wow
    Thank you for sharing this experience and honoring PPL lost for the country.
    See you next one. Hope you visit FL one day....

    Never been, although I do set off with my (then) 6 year old grandson to visit it about 11 years ago and somehow we ended up on a ship at Hartlepool marina (long story. What an absolutely fantastic collection, never know it was as good as this or how much there was to see, so will be taking out youngest 4 year old grandson there (in the dry) as he will love it there. One thing I found really disappointing was the obvious lack of funding to properly house all these amazing exhibits, I have took our oldest grandson to the Imperial War Museums in London and Manchester and they house their exhibits in pristine buildings, for me this would have been a perfect 'levelling up' project that could really showcase everything in there and not have them separated about, with some rusting outdoors in the open. Funny enough my second car was either a Hillman Imp or Hillman Minx (so long ago I cannot remember), so interesting to see the red sports car, although I would not fancy getting a bump in it mind. I did get there all the way to the end and very enjoyable it was too, cheers Alan

      @OutandaboutwithAndy  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for watching Alan. It's definitely worth a visit. They often have classic vehicle rallies on weekends, so there is even more to see. Sadly, the space the museum occupies is quite small by comparison to neighbouring Nissan and I'm not sure if there is much room for further expansion.
