Hello friends, for some reason the audio and video are not playing in sync for some viewers. I've created an updated video for this tune at: ua-cam.com/video/xMu2gJh0NWI/v-deo.html
Oh man, I first heard this song in about 1975. I learned to play teh song, but never learned the intro as I couldn't figure it out. Now, at over 60, I have just learned it. Epic work dude. Bit of practice and it goes live on stage in about 3 weeks. Very many thanks.
Hey Alex V, thanks a lot, thats a huge compliment! Plenty of Beatles coming up, as I plan to devote a solid week to greatest band of all time! Thanks for watching! -Rob
Fantastic lesson! I am 42 and I've loved the Beatles since I could walk. Thank you, your teaching style was well-paced and detailed. Looking forward to your other lesson videos.
Thanks for the very nice presentation. Your lesson is well-structured, without distracting diversions. And, your demonstrations are ably performed. It was a pleasure to learn from you. I appreciate your generosity in sharing your skill & knowledge.
Thanks drutgat2, I'm a full time instructor, so patience is something that really comes in handy! The positive feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks a lot! -Rob
I like to also say thank for taking the time for making this lesson and sharing it. It was fun learning it and I really appreciate it. I've just seen a guitar lesson that helped me out and I wanna shout, na na na na na na. Haha thanks again.
Hey thanks @tloadin1, I really appreciate the dose of encouragement that your positive comment has provided. Keep jamming and expect many more lessons from me. Best. -Rob
I probably could have guessed that with a little more critical thinking haha. So fun receiving messages from people in places I aspire to visit. Thanks for the support, and have a great day!
A good lesson. Thanks for the tips. Just an observation though folks- the intro can be also be strummed and sounds good. Also, depending on your vocal range, the capo doesnt necessarily have to be used.
I got this song down pat for many years (playing since 14 y.o. 'til now 59 y.o.) overdubbing the voices and "fill in guitar parts" and for the life of Me I could NEVER get this beginning intro down properly...That's-a-gonna change thanks to Your terrific instruction, My Brother!...Thank-You, Thank-You and THANK-YOU!....Maybe some day You can get Me over another hurdle regarding "Darling Be Home Soon" by The Loving Spoonful...?...If You listen to the tune the hurdle is at the part where the chords C and Csus4 blend while singing the "But Darling be home soooon...I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if You dawdled..."....Oh well, My Friend...I figured it couldn't hurt to ask...Thanks for any help You can give Me.......I'm subscribing to Your Channel...You're terrific!
+Tommy Regan ...HAHAHA!...How 'bout that, swiftlessons...Picked up My guitar and figured out that "Darling Be Home Soon" thing...It'll take some time to accomplish the way those two chords fit in with the vocal (not usually so but, I'm a bit spastic when it comes to this part, in this song while sionging it, lol!) but I'm going to work on it with the "I've Just Seen A Face" intro...Thanks again, My Friend
Thank you for posting this video and thank you so much for the part on bassline transitions!! I really like your voice, too! The only thing I didn't like so much was when you mentioned the fret positions in relation to the capo sometimes and sometimes you named them as the fret positions they would be if there was no capo attached. Other than that, I really enjoyed your lesson!!!! :)
Hey JoviGoo, thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the lesson! This was a weird thing to teach because once you get into the highfrets it tough to keep sight of the capo. I may have done it differently a second go around. Thanks for watching, I got plenty more on the way. -Rob
swiftlessons You're very welcome!! I tried this song out a bit and I've come across a question I have... At what point do you put the harder strums on the C chord on the "mm mm mm mm-mm mm" parts in the verses? I can kind of figure out where the harder strums go for the G and Em when singing and playing together, but not really the C chord yet... So far I'm just doing the one root note and down, up, down, up, down strum thing, but hope to get better soon!
Because it’s done in the key of A do you think they used a capo on fret 2? Since you are doing it in G shape I wish you did it without the capo because it’s easier to sing and could hear the strings your play without the capo on fret 2. Also it would be nice to see some cord charts.
I've never liked the relative to the capo thing...if you are jamming with other players it can be confusing for them if you stick to that language. If I was just strumming open position chord alone they its fine, but if i'm traveling all over the neck, i'm not going to minus a whole step from every fret I play. I also wasnt sure if my capo would be in the shot, so seeing the double dots on my 12th fret but i'm calling it 10th could be a bit confusing as well. its preference I guess.
Great lesson! I learned a lot from this. I had a question though... The lesson ended after the chord transition section for the verse. Is there nothing to the chorus except straight strumming?
Hey Freebird Rising, I just took a listen to the original track and it seems that Paul just continues with the same strumming pattern throughout. I'd say keep it basic, as the chord changes come pretty quick and are very entertaining on their own.
Love the video and I've got the song down for the most part thanks to you. But the only thing that's missing is the solo. Is there anyway that you could do it in the tuning you used?
Shnoz16taylor Thanks, glad you are digging the video. I'll get around to doing a video on the solo soon. I know its very easy in the G position, as its all done with the top two fingers of the Gmaj chord.
Love your lesson and teaching style.. extremely learnable and helpful!! However you should know there's a lag in the video between your motion and sound after about the 10th minute or so... makes an almost perfect lesson video a bit difficult in the last four minutes.
Awesome lesson! I noticed that when you pluck the base not you kind of turn your hand outwards. Is this because thats the proper way to do it and I should do the same or it's just what's comfortable to you? Thanks!
Uri Henig Thats not something i've ever really thought about...I'm moving just enough to pluck the root, coming away so that I miss the other bass strings on the down stroke. I always say, if it works, it sounds good, and it doesn't have a negative consequence, then go for it...everyone has there own ways of doing things.
Why did you key up to A with the capo, instead of playing open, which keeps the natural chords?, though these are simpler chords in a way. You must have a higher voice than i. Now that i think of it, i can hardly recall seeing any of them with a capo on....not that i sat around with them all the time, logging their every move :P Good Show!
Kilgore Trout The original key of the tune is Amaj, and so you could play it with or without the capo. I was going by the Paul McCartney unplugged performance I believe, in which he performs the tune in this position. Always more than one way to skin a cat, this one might be more beginner friendly. Best. -Rob
Thanks Rob, you do a great job! You are so right about approaches to playing. The strum pattern of this one is pretty jumpy, i have always enjoyed it. It and "Two of Us" kinda have a similar country-ish 50s sound to me that i find to be natty little gems in such a varied catalogue
The Beatles definitely did use capos. I don't know for sure how they recorded this song originally but I wouldn't be surprised if they used a capo. Really I think G is a much more natural key to play this kind of bluegrass influenced song.
Is not the first open cord e.g. e.g. e.g. you left off the last note G like most people play it over the Internet, how come? Because the rest of the cords are e.g. e.g. e.g.

Great Job! Love this song and lesson a lot. I do it in G without the capo because it`s better for range of my voice.
Oh my gosh! Notes for the cords for on our way back home within that song.
A good lesson. Thanks for the tips. Just an observation though folks- the intro can be also be strummed and sounds good. Also, depending on your vocal range, the capo doesnt necessarily have to be used.
Nicely done Rob! This will be very extremely helpful....

Thats great carlilir, congrats on the success, glad my videos are helping!
and please do the solo, #swift rocks
Great:)
😍😍😍
☺️
The first part only has five notes because you hit the three base and then the rest of the song has six notes?
seth rollins who?
that's the issue isn't it. Capo or not?
didn't know matthew mcconaughey could sing ;-) ..
Instead of going G E G E G E, I go G E E E, It sounds more like the actual song
Why don't you just call out all the notes relative to the capo. Keep it consistent
that was pedagogic as fu#$k
Это.просто . ахуенно

Are you leaving off the G in the open cord because in the intro base run you do a open low E?
I hate the Beatles sorry not SORRY
It’s okay, you don’t have to like them 😂
@@swiftlessons thanks for the lesson tho
