The word of God is clear on these issues. Men complicate things when we put our ideas above God's word. Situational ethics should never shape how we think only God's word should shape us. God's word is confrontational. The Bible clearly points us to Jesus Christ the Redeemer of our soul.

    • @unc1589

I always thought that ethics apply to situations.
Solomon was a situational leader. People brought him their situations.
The ability to discern is empowered by The Holy Spirit.
Study Jesus’ confrontation of the women at the well.
God’s word shapes us only if we understand the spirit of it.
      The letter killith.

The Bible is clear on these issues. We need the Bible. We need to read our Bibles. We need to study God's word. Our identity is found in Christ and if we don't repent and turn away from sin to Christ we will die in our sins. We need Christ. We must crucify our flesh and submit to God and love righteousness and hate sin.

How we makin out with that in our personal lives my sister?

  • @unc1589

    Sin is sin right?
    STILL Jesus ate with sinners!
    In the presence of everybody.
Religious leaders had a problem with that.
Sinners got saved because of it.
    Jesus set them straight.
SO. Who is ARB acting like?
    Jesus or the pharisees?
    Careful!

    • @bupss7553
      @bupss7553 2 роки тому +1

Jesus also told sinners (adulterous woman & the invalid by the pool of Bethesda) sin no more! If there is a mesage about choices, I think the core component of that mesage should be, yes He will forgive us our mistakes and allow second chances but he expects us to make better choices. Or am I mistaken?

      @@bupss7553 Hey Bups,
You are right! Choices matter. Thing is, Jesus is aware of the fact people are not that good at making right choices.
So what does He do with them?
What do we as believers do with with our knowledge of the bad choices of others?
      Abortion is a bad choice.
It’s usually a bad choice that was created by a bad choice.
You probably can trace an abortion back to a multitude of bad choices.
How does the church respond to such matters without condoning the sinful act or condemning the sinner?
ARB made me step back and reevaluate what I considered a black and white/ right and wrong issue.
Pastor includes cultural realities when making leadership proclamations.
      The church? Not so much.
The pharisees would drag the woman into court with no mercy.
Jesus led with mercy but still acknowledged her wrong.
      Quietly. One on one.
We would not be in error if we took that same approach.
Plus, we can’t align ourselves with the pro choice/ pro life narrative.
Both positions come with baggage from the wicked one and can often be a setup.
We’re shooting for the mind of Christ in these matters.
Grace is not a part of man’s nature. Ask Jonah lol.
      Jesus has it in abundance.

My brother unless the Holy Spirit conveys the truth it will be used as a weapon to cause hurt and harm to souls, wether we are conscious of it or not.. Please don't use names allow the Holy Spirit to do it's work. Pray for God to continue his work in this world through all his saints. "On the day of harvest, the Word states, God will do the separating " We should all be continually asking God in our daily prayers continue to flow through us. God bless.

Can we really claim to be following Jesus and to be in agreement with the Holy Scriptures but then decide to disagree with God and His precepts, the patterns that He shows us and His principles, based on our own knowledge and life experiences?
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of following an all knowing God if we think we know better or if we believe there are gray areas that God may not have taken into consideration. Could it be that there is a slippery slope to leaning on our own understanding and justifications?
I heard the pastor say "Christians have their heads way up in space somewhere'" but the Holy Scriptures say we are to set our minds on things above. Am I mistaken? Yes we are to support and not be in hypocritical judgement of others, we are taught to love, forgive and to display and act out mercy and kindness, but wouldn't you say that its an act of love, kindness & discipline to teach all of Jesus' words no matter how unpopular some of those words may be?
Isnt it the responsibility of the church to teach about repentance, striving for holiness, seeking truth through His wisdom?
Pray for your pastors and the poeple who you follow in the church building, regularly and with all sincerity because despite the titles and intellectual posturing they are only men, mere mortals who need Christ as we all do. He is the author and finisher of our faith not the preachers in the pulpit.
No judgement, I pray that God continues to bless you all & that you seek His truth, knowledge, discernment and ultimately His wisdom.
    God bless you.

Ah patterns and principles! Who taught us about that again?
Pastor in no way shape or form is soft on abortion.
I doubt any woman that heard the sermon walked away thinking abortion is “ok”.
What we did observe is an exercise in discernment.
How would we handle this dilemma?
The pharisees constantly tried to trap Jesus into one of these ethical dilemmas.
I think pastor has studied our Lord and tried to emulate Him as best he could.
      Masterfully in my opinion.

@@unc1589 Amen & we’ll said. Dr. Bernard has done an exquisite job educating on the real life application of God’s word as well as how to be good Shepards that emulate the love of Christ. Christ came to redeem but how can the redeemed say so if Christ is so far removed from them that they can’t KNOW Him? The word teaches that Jesus is our kinsmen redeemer & High Priest BC He has been touched by the feelings of our infirmities. Jesus knows what it feels like when we wrestle with HARD things and He STILL loves us more than we could ever comprehend no matter how we choose. The word says that He who has begun a good work in us will continue until the day of Jesus Christ. God doesn’t give up on us, leave nor forsake us. THAT’S the Gospel & the work of the church. That’s the God who saved & continues to walk with me. That’s the God I know, serve & love.

Hi @@unc1589 thank you for your reply.
ARB has mentioned principles and patterns but it is my understanding that principles and patterns are apparent from bible study a lot of other pastors mention also.
I totally agree as I mentioned in my last message that we shouldn't condemn and should act with grace and mercy.
I also take on board that human beings are not great at making choices that reflect God's will but isn't that what prayer is for are we not supposed to be lean on His Holy Spirit for understanding or restraint? Yes there will be struggles, temptations as Jesus came up against but we are told in 1 Cor 10:13 that faith and trust in God will allow us to escape it.
I think the real issue is that the message of choices can be misconstrued to suit or vindicate an individuals actions. If we are a new creature in Christ, renewed in mind where are the gray areas around ending life?
Yes we can speak of consequences but wouldn't it be more beneficial if during church services, pastors spoke more on leaning on Jesus, strengthening faith, spiritual warfare, obedience, presenting the body as a living sacrifice. Its very possible to deny Him with our actions and that is an important message. Why would other pastors be concerned about offending the opinons of people within the congregation to the point where they are asking ARB what to say? Why not ask God if there is faith and personal relationship? We shouldn't purposely offend but isn't it more important to live as God intended. When we love we do what is in the persons best interests even if the truth is hard to deliver or receive alongside love, aiding prevention of bad choices is the role of the church.

      Hi @@MidwifeOFynn
I agree we strive to emulate all the aspects of love that Christ displayed and be moved with compassion. He also says part of that love is to rebuke and discipline. Although we have choice, He tells us be earnest and repent. Yes we love people in the world but aren't our thoughts and actions supposed to oppose those of the culture? Am I mistaken?
Do you think obedience is required within our walk with God? Do you think repentance and faith go together? What is Romans 12 about?
What is the real life application of what we should do when we wrestle with hard things in the culture?
Isn't Jesus THE example of willingness to go against cultural norms in obedience to God? I welcome your thoughts.
