    Gen 2 looks sweet, I have a Gen 1, it's been a great optic!

    You did an excellent job with the comparison. The best I have seen in a long time. However, you need to update this for glass clarity. This would require full magnification at long range, using close to 70moa. This will determine the quality of the glass working together.

      Jumps Jumps I did originally attempt to do this as part of the comparison however the camera really didn’t do the scope justice and I didn’t want to give off a false impression of the true clarity

    Nice review, but I don't recall you staying what the tube diameter was. I have the Gen 1 6-24x50PST and that's a 30mm tube. I was going to go with the razor, but I already have a bunch of high quality 30mm rings and didn't want to invest in a pair of 35mm rings.

      DocTango both tubes have a 30mm tube. Thanks for watching!

    Good video. However, showing if there is a difference in glass clarity and showing the illuminated reticles would've been a good touch. And when you talk about the MOA range of adjustment, jt would've been nice to know what the difference would be in MILS as well since not everyone uses MOA. good vid overall tho. Thanks bro

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  6 років тому +1

      The Motorcycle Boss I originally did film glass clarity but through a camera it doesn’t do either justice. There isn’t a significant difference in clarity between the two as both are crystal clear. As far as MOA bs MIL, it depends if you use the customary or metric system. Moa is for using range in yards, whereas mil corresponds to meters. A 1/4 Moa adjustment is slightly more fine tuned than a 1/10 mil adjustment. One reason I always go with Moa is because every gun range I have even gone to is in yards and it meters.

    So In your opinion which optic is better and which one has the least amount of scope shadow when not lined up perfect behind the scope

    really considering this scope for my Ar10 308 win build , are you happy with it? Have you had any issues with it

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  7 років тому +2

      Nick Butler the gen. 2 is not personally mine but I have regular access to it through a family member. The owner is more than happy with it and there have been zero issues so far. I love Vortex optics, they are proven, but IF you have issues their customer service and warranty are second to none

    I can get a gen 1 for 529.00. Is the gen 2 worth the extra $400.00? I mostly hunt with my rifle? I think I know the answer for me but I love new toys!!!

    • @4MRRanch

      They are close in clarity, but the Gen 2 is built better and has more aesthetically appealing turrets in my opinion. Depends on if you think it’s worth the extra coin.

    Think a Gen 1 is still worth purchasing? Europtic has a closeout on the 6-24 with ebr-1 SFP for 570$. Thinking about putting it on my HMR just not sure if the FOV at 6x is enough as I plan on using this rifle for hunting as well as out to 300 yard target shooting.

    The sun shade on the Gen 2 does not fit on the Gen 1 and vice versa I know it says 50 but it's bigger than that.

    • @IronAndDiesel

      Plus the gen 2 sun shade is a bit shorter than the gen 1.

      my personal preference: Seekins Precision or Vortex Optics precision matched rings sets (both made my Seekins). They are affordable and lightweight, but built like a tank and NEVER move. On my hunting rifles with a 0-20 MOA rails ending at or just after the barrel, I prefer those rings in in the .97" height...gives a nice tight mounting option but leaves enough room between the objective bell and the barrel to clean and is resistant to straps, branches, rags, etc from getting wedged between them. If you are into AR 10/15s with a continuous rail, go with the same rings in the 1.26" or higher with any scope 50mm or bigger objective for good rail clearance (Seekins also makes a killer monolithic cantilever mount for ARs that I haven't tried). I Run the 1.26" rings on my long range bench/target guns as well because that height is more comfortable behind the scope (for me at least) for extended periods of time. Hope this helps!

      Patrick Ellis the gen 2 set up is not my own, so I’m not too sure on the specs but they are actually Eotech brand rings

    • @4MRRanch
      @4MRRanch  7 років тому +2

      Mikey6048 honestly, nothing extremely drastic. The gen. 2 might have a slight improvement on clarity but both scopes are very clear
