Your English is excellent. I didn't notice a single instance that required clarification. A native English UA-camr would add many colloquiolisms, but they're not necessary since you also reach out to many second-language English speakers. You could pass for an American, as your slight accent doesn't hint that you are from Germany. And most Americans have a regional or cultural accent anyway. Thanks for your language videos.
Personally if you're ever a guest in someone elses country out of pure decency you should learn an appropriate amount of their native language for your stay. Even though I'm only visiting germany for a week for heavy metal festival and to see the black forest and would probably get by with 0 german, I'm still refreshing the german I learnt in school and through gaming and learning some other stuff. I cannot imagine being rude enough to just ask a german person if they speak English in English. The least I can do is show that I have made some effort.
I totally agree with you! Making an effort to learn even a few phrases in the local language shows respect and can create a better connection with the locals. Plus, it’s always rewarding to try something new. Enjoy your time in Germany and the heavy metal festival-sounds like a blast! Is it Wacken?😃💥
@@SpeakFluentGerman Sadly not. It's Power of the Dragonflame Festival, first year it's happened, though Wacken is on my radar, just waiting for a good enough line up. Figured as it's ~80km northwest of anywere I've heard of in a town with 2k population that English speakers might be at a premium so I should probably learn stuff like directions, stuff when shopping/filling car, ordering food/drinks etc. I used to game with a lot of german people so I can piece together some stuff that probably isn't technically right but probably makes enough sense and shows the I'm trying (E.g "Entschuldigung, Ich komme aus England also meine Deustch ist nicht sehr gut, kannst du nochmal sprechan aber langsam bitte" I assume is not techncially correct but would understood as close to "Sorry, I'm from England so my German is bad, could you please repeat that but slower"
@@JohnTCampbell1986 Love your mindset and yes, it would be great to know more daily life practical German if you want to go to Wacken! :) I have a lot of videos here on this channel about daily life German. So, I hope that helps! Ja, sehr gut! To repeat translates to 'wiederholen' in German, so a clearer way to say that would be: "Entschuldigung, ich komme aus England. Mein Deutsch ist nicht sehr gut, kannst du bitte wiederholen, aber langsamer bitte." - So your version was close enough! People will understand :)
